Hey Guys I missed the whole point of the thread when I replied at the start as to me work means working dog!! So I just kept quiet and read the responses, very interesting, I actually went to an obedience trial on the weekend ( not that mine will do that for years , if ever but just to look) I admire the dogs and handlers that put all that work in and wow what great results. Its poetry in motion to see well trained dogs. It was great to see the Chis to the Kelpies and of course those wonderful BCs, then the pound dogs who really made a mark in their classes as well. J I agree - I think we all expect a similar response but go a different wayabout it / express what we mean differently Either way - an interesting read! I like hearing what you all do who TID and also just what others do in general to get their dogs 'ready' to work. As cosmolo said - she warms her dogs up but it's probably more for her than the dogs - I'm the same

With dogs that I have worked as in "worked" I used a harness for work, AND A VERBAL COMMAND "FIND IT" all other times was check chain and collar etc. Now I will use check chain and slip lead for walk and basic obedience, and show lead etc for show training incorporating a command for shows as is relevant, I also use the command as I would for toileting, I know its not how most do it but it is how I was taught and it works for me so thats what I choose. J

What about the adds in the paper for a Rockweiler!! I cringe when I hear it ? lol J Agree. The only prob I thought of was the breeder calling them that.As I have heard people say or spell their breed a fair amount of times incorrectly, and I just assumed if you 'had' a breed,people may have at least learned a little about it.. Like German Shepard English Staffordshire bull terrier Rottweeler malinoise etc Enjoy your dogs they are gorgeous!

Welcome to DOL I assume you are still here ? Its common to get 164 questions! entry exam, its because people do care, just some have an unusual way of showing it!! Poop probs all solved Breed Probs all solved Photos solved ( great by the way) Washing hung up, kids in bed and all fed! Gee whizz what an exhausting thread! Enjoy your pup and time at DOL, hope the vet check is all good. I am sure it will be. Probably straining and this can happen when from one environment to another ( the change etc enviro and diet can affect their tums and the consequences !!) Nice dogs and sounds like they will be well loved by all in the household. J
