Thanks TD. I have antihistamines here and I had planned to give her one if anything happened. I will send her home with your advice. I'm sure if her owner knew about Polaramine she would have brought them with her. She is a very caring owner

That really is fabulous I am so glad for you!

Thanks people I know how to use an epi pen for a person but I guess a dog's thigh is not as beefy as a persons. Mind you I hope I never have to use one.

I learnt to give tablets with a very crabby persian cat. She was quite feral and hard to handle. One person would hold her very firmly wrapped in a towel and I'd pry her mouth open and shove the tablet down as far as I could. Even after holding her and rubbing her throat she'd still manage to spit it out once we let her free. So we added another step. Once I'd shoved the tablet down I'd smear some condensed milk on her lips and she was so busy licking that she'd forget to get rid of the tablet

A dog I am looking after at the moment had a severe allergic reaction to a bee sting whilst out walking with her owner. Apparently she collapsed and it was touch and go even though she was raced to the vet very quickly. It got me thinking is there such a thing as an epi pen for animals? I do so hope she stays away from bees while she's here but it's a worry!

I could drop a peice of cardboard on the floor and they'd gobble it down If your dog is that fussy I'd be inclined to push the tablet down the throat rather than going through all that and wondering if they got it or not.

He is giving it a good fight! Go little one

My point exactly, i am actually a bit surprised. I expected to get slammed for not adopting my pup from a rescue or pound. And they will continue to breed to sell their pups just for the money cause people keep buying them..... If the sire drops dead of heart failure they can always get another.

Oh poor little man :D and poor you.

How is your pup this morning?
-
It really does sound like he needs to see a vet. Can you take him tomorrow? When you bring home a pup it's important to keep their diet the same as they are used to at least until they are well settled into your home before starting to make changes. I wouldn't give him any food tonight, if you haven't already, and no breakfast and get him to the vet in the morning.

In my Woolies, it's in the frozen foods section, not the petfood section - so it's in the freezers with other frozen petfood just a bit fuerther down from the ice cream I don't think they are available over here? I've looked a few times and not found them. Edited to add I'm in NSW

Anyone Feed Red Salmon To Their Dogs?
Gretel replied to Sheridan's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Mine love salmon. Not that they've had it often -
I like the sound of these. Do you aim for a sloppy mix or dry? I'm thinking more dry? And where does one buy spelt? Thanks

Couldn't Get Gerda Desexed - They Found A Tick!
Gretel replied to Gerda the Schnauzer's topic in Puppy Chat
Don't you hate that 'just a dog' bit  No one's tried that on me for quite some time Glad they found the tick - that was a bit scary. With luck she'll hold off coming in season for you. -
A friends dog had a few siezures not long after having the three year vaccination. He'd never had them before. It may well have been a coincidence. He does have immune problems so may have been too much for him

Oh I am so sorry - how sad

Heart Murmur In 6 Week Old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Gretel replied to Meeka17's topic in Puppy Chat
At six weeks old it is most likely an innocent murmur. If it were me I wouldn't take the pup until it had been checked over okay. I really don't think your breeder need go into panic mode just yet. Tell them to talk to some knowledgeable Cavalier breeders. -
I think I'd be getting him checked over by the vet. If he is in pain some meds will help and no point him suffering needlessly.

<Zarah does that also Gretel and she will vommit all up.> OMG BB that wins the gross prize!!!

Thanks I shall try the Thrive D. I tried pineapple and couldn't decide if she had stopped it or not at the time A friend feeds her dogs BARF and one still eats poo.

My 8 month old pup is on a good diet (Eagle Pack Holistic) and raw necks etc but she still does it What bugs me more though is she will bring some in from outside and sometimes eat it and leave bits everywhere Anyone got any ideas on that one?
-
Sounds like your mum would have been a good home for an older more settled dog rather than a pup. And with the breeds he is made up of he will probably be quite active. Active pups and no patience don't mix

Mine love chicken liver and lambs fry (you've just reminded me I have one in the freezer I'll dig out!). When I buy a lambs fry I slice up what I want and fry it and the dogs have the rest raw.

Aerogard on things you don't want chewed works well too
