Just wanted to add thanks guys for helping out with le brat. Poor baby the table is his fave bit normally and to have soured on it like he did is a little heartbreaking :) So having some of his fave show people did help him on the table. although he could have done without the falling in love with a silly pointer! She's quite the speshial tart Ash!!:rofl::rofl::)

Dragon looked great Deb!! wasnt really phased and OMG the concentration on you when you had bait was awesome!

She is fine, been swimming in her shell all day.. and yes, she does like cabanossi! You know shes going to hit you up for the good whenever she see's you now!

Happy to play with Toby on the table anytime!

Dragon is gorgeous, and huge! he makes my poor squidget midget look even smaller, will be interesting to see how we go against each other for opposite on the sunday at Hillsborough (because both our fabulous dogs are sure to win their classes!)

Thanks everyone for the expert judging/training offered last night! We had great fun!! Toby probably went to sleep dreaming of long, slender white legs last night....:rofl:

Thanks for the comments on Dragon. I think I will enjoy playing with him! See you in the working dog ring, Dotty! Hopefully they won't just want to play with each other in the ring though.

Hello RubyStar ;) ...... I've been very slack. I'll try to put some up tonight. I don't have any stacked photos - should have got some last night but I didn't think of that!!

Thats a dam shame Fiona, was looking forward to another gunner person joining the crew. no one missed mmuch last night except for us having to train ourselves seeings no trainer was there...oh well we all worked hard and i think i made a fine judge...we will be back next fortnight i think!!

If the weather is better next fortnight I think we'll come along - if only to say hi to everyone and for some socialisation for Archie before your class begins

Fiona

Is obedience on this Sunday & seeing it is the first weekend of the month can I sign up? I'm not sure if my entries were too late for a show in Sydney, so it will depend on whether I was accepted or not. Are there more than one class/age group & time slot as I may like to bring along more than one hound?

Cheers...

Well, I've found out that my entries were accepted for this coming weekend...so it will be my first ever show....

What does everyone like to wear...is it necessary to wear a jacket? I'm totally freaked out.....I competed with horses for years so hopefully it won't be as nerve wracking as that!!

Anyone else going to Sydney on Sunday? It's at Glendenning....

Normally it would be on out the back but it is an agility trial this weekend on the obedience field - I think they will run Obedience in the front section though (where we were for show training) .....

All the classes run simultaneously - so they all start from 10am .... - unless you get them assessed individually then they will all be placed in beginners class (yellow) for the first month ... this is for everyone who's just enrolled but sometimes they separate into a couple of beginners classes if there are enough new people and they may do a puppy yellow class (small dogs) and a larger dog one ...

Oooo I just read you're showing this weekend afterall - so if you hold off till April enrollments then Archie and Maja will be in the same class! lol

We will be there this weekend although the OH is stewarding at the agility trial and I will have both boys under a gazebo being a spectator but i will probably wander over and bring them for a walk over the course of the morning....

Woohoo, how exciting!!! :cheer: I'm sure you will do better then me then your first show - Well, my breeder was showing him, but she had to leave in a hurry so threw me the lead and said "you'll be fine" ... I got so nervous I had a disgusting rash and felt sick - a complete stranger offered to take him in for me and he didn't perform and just kept trying to run away back to me, it was such a stupid thing to do lol. Since then I have learnt it isn't that bad at all. Go in, have a laugh and it's just all in good fun! (Though I must admit I still get the "omg i'm going to die" feeling before I go in the ring!)

I am probably one of the most unfashionable people at the shows :) I have one show shirt, which is black/collared/semi formalish and I either wear black shorts (if it's going to be hot) or black pants. Sooo original I know!! And I wear my flats. I'm not over the top, but i'm not such a bogan either. I don't think :p

Yay - have a great time!!! :cheer: I don't wear a jacket - just a neat top and pants with flat shoes, usually the same top and pants each time......I find it so much easier to shop for the dogs than to shop for myself these days! :p Some people wear joggers with suits/skirts if they have to run REALLY fast.

Can't wait to hear your reports back from your first ever show.

Aw thanks for the offer :p ...And, I would take you up on it, but with the squishyness in the toy ring at HB I always get nervous visiting you guys cause last time we went up there we got 'yelled' at for making someones dogs pipe up :)

I think Maja & obedience will certainly be a challenge. My older girl Eve, that I mantrail, is really smart & switched on so I thought she would be rather good at it.....although Maja needs the discipline more than Eve. I think Tracking may start up in April so I will have to see if I can fit it all in with only Sundays off on a weekend. I think Maja & Archie in a class together would be rather cute...I'm sure Maja would be the class clown... :)

has anyone been to Glendenning (Blacktown City Canine Centre)....just need an idea of shade, parking and all that stuff!! I still don't have a gazebo so will probably need to take my umbrella for a bit of shade if the place is quite open.

Any info at all would be helpful... :cheer:

There are trees around the outside of the ground. It is an L shape and therefore there is some shade available. Not as much parking at Glendenning as there is at Erskine Park. There's a small carpark and then there's the grass. Good Luck and I hope you have fun :cheer:

Hi there,

had my first time in the ring handling someone else's puppy just recently..

(in order)

1. Almost missed my call

2. Couldn't get the stack right

3. She kept sitting down :cheer:

4. Found the sausage in my hand completely uninteresting.

5. My pants kept falling down!!! :p

6. Owner had to take over for me.

Oh deary deary me! :) I can look back and laugh now but it was quite embarrassing at the time! I have officially popped my show handling cherry.. and not without my share of dramas LOL.
