Try the UK - No limits there

emery, hope you're back to normal soon - great work on the yard clearing! I'm sure the dogs will love it too :D

Got home to find OH had forgotten to turn the heating off this morning  3 toasty roasty animals  especially Louis who was all 'rugged up'. No panting, so I think they were all probably relishing the heat

So many people getting the flu this season - so glad we all got the vaccination! Hope you feeling better now Emery.

Well SO impressed with Rivergum, had Rosie's follow up apt today and when i went to pay i was told there was no charge.... I said, sorry, are you sure?

LOL anyway, we have to with draw the anti inflams and keep doing what we are doing for another 10days and then if all goes ok, to introduce more activity.

Hmmm I think that sounds pretty standard - I haven't been charged for a follow ups with Kenz either. Speaking of which fingers crossed Tuesday is her last trip back to the specialist.

Anyone know any councils in the perth metro area that are more relaxed about allowing more than 2 dogs? what about country wa areas? are they generally more accepting of more than 2 dogs??

I am in Shire of Manjimup in the country and it is the same. Max of 2 dogs within townsites, unless you have a kennel licence or exemption under the local Dog Act. Up to 4 dogs allowed outside of town and then same applies if you want more.

It is amazing how much shires vary in their approach to licencing more than 2 dogs. I have sleddog friends in Collie and Dunsborough who both have permission for about 6 dogs in surburban size backyards (obviously they do get out and about and exercised daily). Yet I hear of other shires that won't even allow 3 dogs, despite letters from neighbours etc saying it is OK.

I guess it all depends on the personalities within the shire, and the experiences they have had in the past with multiple dogs.

I wish the whole country would adopt the NSW dog act.

thumbsup1.gif Granted, the only thing I know about the NSW Dog Act is the no limit on dog numbers, as long as they're cared for adequately, but this alone makes me want WA to adopt it, too!

Personally i like the 2 dog rule as i wouldnt want regular folks have heaps of dogs in their backyards. I think number of dogs should go on property size. Was up at my friends yesterday they have 4 acres and the 5 dogs had heaps of space to run ( they only have 2 plus 1 houseguest and my 2)

I can't see many regular pet folk people want more than 2, why would you think that would mean every backyard would have hoards of dogs confused.gif It is restrictive to responsible people who want more than 2, whether it be for showing or performance reasons, or otherwise. A bad owner is going to be a bad owner regardless of dog numbers, the same with GOOD owners. Oh and if someone wants more than 2, they're going to have more than 2, so why not just make it legal to do so and have council gain extra registration fees out of the dogs that people are currently hiding!

They have these rules in place for a reason, back home people are allowed as many dogs as they want and it makes for streets of barking dogs. If there wasnt this rule heaps of people would take advantage and have extra.

I don't really agree 100%... if that was the case NSW would also have hoards of dogs in every home. There are things in place with their councils regarding complaints etc

Most people can't even fathom having more than 2 dogs.

I agree, ST. The rule allowing more dogs is not going to make people rush out and buy more dogs just cos the council say they can! Absurd to think that.

I have lived in NSW and never witnessed any dog issues over there. We had 3 dogs and it was no problem.

I just dont agree with it i think on most blocks 2 is ample and our yard imo is even too small for 2.

Maybe for two active labs but others could probably comfortable fit three SWF's or multiple lazy Grey's in a small yard :p

Anyway hi everyone! :) Been a bit absent from DOL, no real news here.

Hey RV its a lovely photo of Zora on FB thumbsup1.gif

Hmm I have too many dogs to fit on my bed eek1.gif

Tumbleweed - when I lived in Bunbury I used to send challenges I called them to Livertreats in Perth - so things like your challenge this week is to be able to leave the kids in a sit stay in the lounge room and for you to walk to the kitchen open the pantry door and return without them moving. She also taught her kids scent discrimination by correspondence - so it can be done and its a really good idea for motivation. You could perhaps start a thread and issue a challenge for people to try and report back on - just a thought - you could even use the training thread.

Its been 4.30 starts on all but one day for me in the last week - thank you Nina - the joys of having a 13 week old puppy. Loving every minute of her - I wanted a out there in your face, naughty puppy with lots of attitude and that's what I got. Time will tell if she is anywhere near as good as her mum.

Bedazzled and I are heading to Melbourne with the boys in a couple of weeks time for a drinking holiday/obedience competition - need to do some training between now and then biggrin.gif
