I did say she did the right thing, however to build her dominance and self assert herself for future cases, , or maybe your right , I only suggest this because its my first reaction and have experience and done it many times. Its in all of us, yes we watch the show and we are amazed but it is quite very simple.

I guess conclusion do what you can do to protect yourself and child and your Dog,

Next time if this happens stand your ground and walk into the other dogs space slowly without fear be calm, as soon as you see it back away you are taking its power away if that does not work poke the dog on the neck with the same intensity its showing, eg, if its at level 5 poke with 6 or higher, like other dogs do to each other with out anger or fear because dogs will reflect that.

This is terrible advice, and I sincerely hope the OP doesn't take your advice seriously, nor any other members of the public that may be reading this thread.

I am by no means a dog trainer at all but even I know POKING an aggressive dog in the neck is just plain stupid and dangerous. The aggressive dog could turn on you in an instant.

My opinion on the dominance theory aside, I think it is very irresponsible of you to give out such reckless advice on a public forum, and citing your credentials so that people will take your advice seriously.

So the caveats on the show about not just picking up CM's techniques and trying them at home are lost on you then?

You have no idea of the OPs ability to read a dog or physical condition, she had a child in the pram and a dog on a lead attached to the pram, and you advise her to start 'poking' an unknown, aggressive dog in the neck? Happy days if it redirects its aggression onto her.

I'm sorry but that rates as some of the most recklessly irresponsible advice I have read on this forum.

From the 'Aussie Dog Whisperer's' site;

Tony Carlucci has great knowledge in Dogs Psychology studying in the UK, he also has Masters in Energy and Emotional Communication and Healing. He has studied Animal packs and their mentality for years. He uses both Western and Holistic approach. All his work is based Educating Dog Owners Understanding Dog's Psychology and using the correct Energy and Body Language in ways to handle their Dogs. He will Educate humans about Dogs and why certain behaviours are created and how to keep their Dogs Balanced. Tony will Also Educate Dog Owners on Dog's Trigger points and certain parts of the body which will assist in Relaxation and help Rehabilitate and bring your Dog back to Balance.

I'd love to know where he studied for his 'masters degree' in Energy and Emotional Communication and Healing.

I sincerely hopes he corrects the spelling and grammar on the site too... what is it with the fascination with capital letters too?

Sorry but I'm just pissing myself laughing at the turn this thread has taken. :thanks: My apologies to D22, I know you had a real scare, but you really have to see the funny side. Love this forum when someone gives 'advice' they shouldn't!

So wait you are Tony or you know him? and why did your name just change from aussiedogwhisperer to doglover007?

am I missing something?

Even without calling this persons training credentials into question, nobody should give hands on advice for an aggressive dog. (Let alone EVERY aggressive dog.) when they do not know the person or the dog. Its completely ridiculous and asking for trouble.

Forum rules that you need to follow

This forum is provided at no cost to you so that we ask that you assist us in making the forum run as smooth as possible by adhering to the following simple rules. They are reasonably straight forward, they don't ask a lot and there really isn't any reason to break them.

If you do, we will either give you a warning (more details at bottom of this page) or give you an immediate permanent ban (either option will be used at our absolute discretion). No correspondence will be entered into if either of these are given.

If you are given a warning and reply with a negative comment directed at the way the forum is run or at the forum administrator, then expect to be banned. If you treat your warning like a badge of honour, then expect to be further warned or banned.

1. Don't attack other members

A simple definition of 'attack' ... the word 'you' (either stated or implied) combined with a negative comment (or image). If you don't agree with what a person has written, then explain why without resorting to insults.

For those that need examples of what we class as attacks, it includes (but is not limited to)

* name calling etc (eg you are an idiot)

* referring to a member by an uncomplimentary variation of their username

* having a dig at someone via a comment / quote in your signature

* calling someone a troll (if you suspect someone is a troll, report the post and let us deal with it)

* any post that we could class as 'just you being a bitch'. You may not like a person or have any time for them or what they write and if that is the case, skip their posts or put them on ignore.

2. Do not make comments that are likely to start or perpetuate an argument.

This is not related to just having a difference of opinion.

It is aimed at posts that in our opinion are overly harsh towards another member and are unwarranted. It is also aimed at negative posts made which are based on your personal feelings towards the person (which then contributes to a series of argumentative posts not related to the topic being discussed). Examples of comments include 'you are a bully' or 'the pack is here' etc. Don't take it upon yourself to be the forum police as you will get a warning for your trouble.

If you have an issue with what a person writes or you feel you are being unfairly attacked, send a report to the moderators via the 'Report' button on the bottom left of the relevant post and let them decide. Before sending the report though, make sure 'your hands are clean' (ie you said nothing to provoke the response) or you did not write something that our initial reaction is 'well what did you expect after writing that'.

If someone insults or attacks you, do not respond in kind. The excuse of "they started it" is incredibly lame and it won't stop you getting a warning. It is also extremely annoying to have to clean up a topic where a couple of people have started an argument between themselves.

Letting really reckless advice stand without objection would be breeching more than forum rules, it would be breeching common decency.

I don't think calling you out on pretending to be your own friend is a breech either.

But if you have a problem with any of the posts, just click that little report button. Troy will sort it.
