It started out as BISS, that one I could understand, then it was BIS even that I find acceptable. But when the best your dog has got is RUBIS, it is getting ridiculous, it is not an unbeaten dog.

Wow I'm sorry and will remember not to celebrate if my dog gets a RUBIS - it did get beaten after all. What happened to just letting people enjoy their wins?! It's called good sportsmanship.

Adding wins to the name like BISS/BIS etc etc is used worldwide & more so overseas & something people over there use more so than here & with greater pride ,It is a way of acknowledging a dog & its success

I agree ... and I add it mine where applicable ... and very proud of them I am !!!

I only use BIS &/or BISS ...

I think listing PIS BPIS or MBIG and registered name in the DOL profile is pretty silly, however I don't have a problem with BIS BISS RUBIS RUBISS with the dogs registered name.

Yes list it in the text box but not in the title.

What I don't like is BIS or BISS in the dogs profile name if it was at an open show !

Sure list BIS or BISS in the text but not in the profile name.

But do you need to celebrate by putting it as part of your dog's name? I am sure we can help you celebrate in better ways :D

Personally I am all for people bragging :) I don't bother noting if it is a Champ show win as they are more common but do say if it was an Open show win. And while I have been showing for a while it isn't as if I have Group/Show wins all the time so I am going to shout it out to the world

But I do think that putting it as part of the dogs official name is strange as it isn't acknowledged as that on the official register :)

It's really hard to outline why but when some folk do it, its clear they are simply mightily chuffed with their dogs win/result.

Others appear to be bragging. Maybe its all in the subtleties.

Its all in the interpretation I suppose.

can be easily fixed if it's considered a problem on DOL my simply limiting the options availble on profiles... as it is it's a free

text field and people can put in what they like.

this is just another form of advertising ... we can put what we like ...

So if you won BIS 2 at Melbourne ,Sydney or Adelaide Royal you wouldn't brag ??You would consider the win of no importance

I think open shows should be listed as just that, but it doesn't make it any less special or brag worthy!

I showed a dog at a breed specialty open show as a youngster - he went RUBIS(S)... next time at an open show (all breeds) he went BIG under the same judge. Yep, the judge was a trainee, but he was also a breed specialist and knew a damn sight more about the breed than most. Those wins were special and I bragged :)

Anyway, I don't usually put stuff in front of my dogs names... but I did put the above dogs BISS from his Champ show on dogz ;) but mostly I use the text box for braggin'

Hi,

This is what I dont like also......MBIS, BIG etc aren't titles to be put infront of a dogs name.......by all means, brag to your hearts content in the text box.

 Imagine if you wrote all that on your entry form

I was under the impression that the only thing allowed to be added to your dog's name were official titles. Am I wrong about that? Isn't everything else just results not the dogs name or title?

Correct the dogs name should only contain ANKC titles and your dogs registered name, however we are talking about people who have profiles on DOL and mention the unofficial titles on FB.

I always list if its an open or a champ show. my very first ever win was with my girl at an open show i got baby in group, then short listed for baby in show. Man i was over the moon, who gives a hoot it was an open show :)

My next win was a specialty show (open) my boy took out best puppy open show again i am shouting that to the world,

i have got a junior in group (champ) show with him

and both my older girls have gone V rated at a specialty they are my wins for the 2.5 years i have been showing and they mean so much to me, man if i got a rubis be it an open show or champ show i'll be shouting it to the world but i wouldn't put it on my name nless a champ show

I think you can't put your own perceptions on other people. So you don't think putting RuBIS as part of a Ad or Brag is classy, others obviously think differently!

I can't see the point in trying to control how others list their dogs in non-ANKC forums. And I'd HATE to see DOL profile title field limited as then I'd have trouble with one of my dogs as his is Int/Aust/NZ/Fin/Dk/Est/Lith/Nor/Swed/Nord Ch VWW10. If I am bragging I normally shorten it to just Int/Multi Ch.

I don't normally add the all the BIS/BISS/RuBIS/RuBISS letters when bragging for a non BIS/BISS/RuBIS/RuBISS win. But I don't tell other people not to. Everyone can do as they please.

I don't put these in front of dogs names but don't feel its my place to tell others they can't / shouldn't.

However, I do have WAC ROM after the dogs names who have achieved them - Working Aptitude Certification and Register Of Merit - both titles awarded through the NDCA and the ROM is the highest recognition awarded to a Dobermann under the National Dobermann Council of Australia. These titles are not recongised by the ANKC but they test / prove correct Dobermann Temperament aand along with our Breed Survey should be accepted and recognised by the ANKC. I will continue to have these titles after my dogs names and I will continue to use them in any advertising I do as they mean alot to our breed. Hopefully one day the ANKC will recognise them (how is this achieved ? - does anyone know) - it would be nice to have these dogs acknowledged in an all breeds catalogue for their achievements.

Lowenhart can you please tell me what VWW10 signifies? :) I love finding out what some of the stuff actually means

I would imagine its a world winner title from the world dog show Veteran world winner 2010

Like England some dogs have JW Junior Warrant
