Her Majesty Dogmad Posted July 13, 2012 Share Posted July 13, 2012 (edited) I should say that if we had a spare foster carer (we are very small as rescues go) I'd certainly consider offering to foster but unfortunately we don't have enough carers at the moment and have dogs in pounds and other situations that we are having trouble squeezing in. I will try and get some coats to send across as I can't do anything else at the moment unfortunately. I was recently told that the RSPCA in SA have been getting purebred Iggies from somewhere down there, sounded like they've been seized, wonder if it was the same place now. Perry's Mum Posted July 14, 2012 Author Share Posted July 14, 2012 The vet thinks that is the result of in breeding and the remains will be amputated to make it easier for her to get around. Today I met two dogs from a batch who came from the same place less than a year ago. They are still small and light, have rather pointy faces and soft but rough coats, still a bit nervous but friendly and craving human affection and attention. I bought it to use on Lucy but we used it once and she doesn't need it/we now go to the groomers for a bath anyway so its sitting on my shelves pretty much full never being used. For some reason the lady at the pet store was set on selling me this stuff even though Lucy has never suffered allergies or itchy skin so I feel its wasted on her anyway! Guest Ams Posted July 16, 2012 Share Posted July 16, 2012 If 'uncomfortable' means still itchy and sore then maybe just some calendular tea to soothe their skin. I've treated a sarcoptic mange dog and they are in a fair amount of discomfort but I was wary of putting anything on their skin that may react (but I do have a breed that is known for being allergic to life). I had itchy dogs that would ooze liquid from their skin, and I found that bathing them in Selsun gold people shampoo (Not the blue one), has done the best for them over all other shampoos.
