OMG Trisven that dog is the spitting image of my mum's old dog!!! :eek: Other than a slightly wider blaze... And even the thin coat in the blue areas - we used to say Max was part pig... as the hair was always so thin on his blue patches. :D

If a black dog carries the dilution gene but doesn't express it can they develop dilution alopecia?

Iggy rescue has a jet black whippet x iggy that has colour dilute alopecia. He's been genetically tested by a vet and its def the right diagnosis.

Indigirl I can't find any info on a genetic test for CDA, I don't think they've isolated the allele/s that cause it yet. It could be that some companies are testing for just the presence of dilution alleles and saying that is the same as testing for CDA? If so, dodgy.
