Happity Birthday Bruno Bruno is a gorgeous boy [do so love the reds with black masks].

Paid $1500 for emergency surgery on lacerated front legs when my dog went through the window last year. I thought that was rather cheap considering it was a Sunday. The $1500 also paid for follow up visits, bandaging and suture removal two weeks later. $4000 can rack up very quickly depending on what the cat needs done to it and how badly it was injured. Blood transfusion, antibiotic, fluid drips, pain medication, surgery, anaesthetic, bandages - all adds up very quickly.

North East in the hills, went to Semaphore as it was like a family morning out beach and brunch [my brother came over from interstate] and of course Scout comes along as well :) A quiet beach might be the way to go for him to get used to them more. His senses were so overloaded as there were lots of other dogs and people [he still paid attention to me even when off leash and returned when I called him, but with anything new he can get excited quickly]. Ah wasn't sure what it'd do to him, but the ladies with the Boxer Scout played with said he may feel seedy later. I'm not very au fait with beaches/dogs drinking the water lol so was worried a tad He had fresh water afterwards so hoping it flushed it out.

Beach visits are awesome, I myself hadn't been to the beach in donks so was fun for all. Poor ol Scout is absolutely knackered tonight though, too tired to even eat his dinner [or he could have an upset tummy as he drank some sea water being a doofus - not a lot, a few laps with his tongue as he walked along]. Would be nice to live closer to the beach but it's only about an hour away. He's just used to paddocks and dirt [he never goes anywhere near the dams here so I was surprised he went in the water].

[melbourne] Morons Letting Off Fireworks
Kajirin replied to PepitoVFR's topic in General Dog Discussion
All the animals here don't get bothered by fireworks thankfully, so when the banging starts in earnest tonight all should be ok. More so worried about fires starting from stray fireworks than the noise all dry and the like. -
Took Scout down to Semaphore beach this morning for his first time. He had an absolute ball. Saw and greeted many dogs :D I had him on my horses lunging lead as I wasn't sure how he'd react. We met another Boxer so let him off leash for a play and he ran into the waves like a lil trooper. Checked out the off leash laws before hand and was ok to be off lead til 10am so was happy about that. I put him back on the leash for the rest of the time as a lil pom mix had a go at him and that got him somewhat excited and I didn't want him running over and annoying the dog and lady. Had breakfast at an outdoor cafe afterwards and most places have bowls of water out for dogs, so he happily drank whilst we ate and then just sat and chilled out in the shade. Was a most enjoyable morning, might have to make it more of a habit once a month or something :D But was a nice end to this year for the squirt.

[melbourne] Morons Letting Off Fireworks

They're letting them off nearby here as well [Adelaide Hills], thought I was going somewhat mad and for a few seconds believed it was Tuesday night already. -
I live on acreage here and am somewhat isolated. I have a desexed male Boxer and the summer temps get quite hot. He basically lives inside come summer with the aircon, but he will still bark at anything weird he hears outside and rush to whatever door/window he hears it from. He also has a magnificent smeller on him and can pick up weird scents from inside blowing in through windows or under doors. He has a run under the verandah which he can go out into during the day in summer if he chooses too [easier to check for snakes first before letting him out]. One night when a prowler was hanging around the shedding, he'd scented first and had woken up from a dead sleep and rushed barking to the back door. Who ever it was high tailed and didn't get a chance to break into the shed. Boxers can be very protective of house and home. He will always put himself between strangers and myself at the door, unless it's someone he knows and then will greet normally. Which I don't mind at all when I'm on my own.

Border Puppies, Training, Socialising On Gold Coast
Kajirin replied to Tru Borders's topic in General Dog Discussion
Vets usually hold puppy classes, so puppies of the same age/vaccination level can interact with each other and they also do the starts to basic obedience. -
According to the hidden fence disclaimer So the law has been in effect [or amended] for at least 13 years

It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Xmas...
Kajirin replied to HazyWal's topic in General Dog Discussion
He doesn't look impressed  I will have to see if I can get Nelsson in the Christmas spirit. I plead roo out by the front door and he was looking at it  He was in a sit/stay for the photo and didn't break to go to the window to look out -
My Nan got one of these calls too, luckily she rang me to ask. Told her it was a scam and she's lucky she didn't go ahead with anything. ETA: She was still on dial up so couldn't be on the phone and doing their online instructions at the same time

Mine's helpful in closing drawers in the kitchen when getting things out of them that need to go back in again [or even when just trying to get them out in the first place]. Also helps when cooking, he closes the pantry door constantly. He is very helpful though when I have my hands full and need a door opened, just ask him nicely and he opens it

Pic of Christmas Scout - this is what he wears when he goes out [i just keep it simple]. The tinsel has jingle bells attatched so he jingles all around the place. -

Haven't taken Christmas pics of the squirt yet, but have a vid of the dog, cat and goat singing Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree  -
Had to relocate to get away from neighbours from hell. They used to whinge and bitch about everything our dogs did - yet had the audacity to let their dogs bark at all hours and grow hydro in their spare room to get money to make home improvements. Lived on tenter hooks there with police constantly coming around wanting to use our backyard to spy on the neighbours Sad you had to let your pup go, that would've been most heartbreaking...but in the long run was probably the best and only thing you could've done given the circumstances.

Even though mine is large, he seems small to me - though when people meet him and call him huge I still find it weird. My goat grew up to be bigger than my dog lol but he too seems small to me  Guess once you become accustomed to their size it just seems normal.

Is This A Standard Groomers Technique?
Kajirin replied to Little Gifts's topic in General Dog Discussion
Train my cats from kittens to have baths, they just stand there and let me wash them - totally unrestrained...turn when I ask them lol. Good for summer to get out the excess hair. -
It shouldn't have to Totally agree. I was wincing watching his spine flailing around like that Poor little mite should have been euthanised at birth. If this woman runs a rescue, surely the money spent on the pup would have helped so many other dogs Looks like he has a cart and is adapting to it slowly. http://www.dailymail...cky-around.html Least he has a cart
-
I don't understand why they don't give a backend cart, can't be good for a pup to be supporting it's weight on growing legs like that surely

Posting seems to be via iphone, so can post from anywhere....just saying

With mine he was the last of the litter unsold, so was a happy coincidence for me. Breeder did express that he was the devil of the litter and he sure did live up to that as a pup. But matured into a brilliant dog. He matched everything I was looking for in a pup so was happy all round.

Boxers have been known to be used as Guide Dogs for the Blind and Service/Assistance dogs.

Mine gets the night barks in the twilight - usually though the house roos [wild ones that hang around the house] are moving around to different eating patches, the birds are roosting and I'm pretty sure the dog thinks the kookaburras are actually laughing specifically at him, so voices his consternation.
