  1. I just let my pup sleep in bed with me, he slept all night and I'd just carry him out in the morning for a wee [otherwise he couldn't make it all the way outside in time]. I did have to put in a bed rail as he was a wriggle pot during sleep and would roll all over the place. He's over 6 months now and still sleeps soundly, sometimes on the floor, on the end of the bed or up next to me [depending on how hot or cold he is]. He also has access to the house at night now as well. I guess the crux of it is to find what suits your pup and what you're happy with [crate or bed]. I've always been happy with dogs on the bed [i now share with two Boxers].
  2. Oh if I want to start watching something on Foxtel Go on the comp, the bell starts ringing by the back door and the dogs just "have' to go outside and do...nothing Lucky I can just pause it
  3. My pup had no trouble chewing/squeaking Dexter the elephant [it was a bit big for him]. It survived evil puppy fangs and nary a mark on it. It's still his favourite toy to chew/squeak and he has his big teeth now. This particular Dexter I got for my other Boxer [who passed on], so it's quite old now and still like new.
  4. Have a bad cuz here but the squeaker went on it relatively quickly. Sounded like it had flatulence from the start, guess now it does silent but not so deadlies The other they have is the Dexter Elephant. It's taken quite a beating/chewing and is still squeaking strong [even with washes under water].
  5. When I brought Sarge home a couple of months ago, Scout was inside. I brought the pup in, let Scout sniff his butt then put him down. Scout got a bit excited, so put him on a lead. After an hour I let him off and they were fine. I was worried as well that Scout would be a bit rough as he plays hard, but no he was very gentle and didn't even do his 'dooshing' [two front paws together pushing]. The other thing was to let Scout tell the pup off if he did something to him and not tell the older dog off for growling, I'd let Sarge know he was in the wrong instead. Rather the pup learn from warning growls than to suppress and let it fester to where teeth get used to make a point. Pup learnt quickly what he could and couldn't do with no dramas.
  6. Hoping the council provide a press release [if they haven't already] and say what actually happened.
  7. in FB just search for save hugo the dog, why?
  8. Was reading that they had claimed to the council that Hugo had died [they were chasing him up in regards to being unregistered]. So were shocked to find a dead dog out wandering. Goldcoast Bulletin article Just get the feeling the only saving Hugo needs is from the current owners who have nfi
  9. Was watching the CI channel this morning and a show came on about anti social behaviour in England. One segment was about the Paws on Patrol initiative, which is basically people signing up to the program and then when walking their dogs they keep an eye out for things like graffiti, burglaries, hoons, groups behaving badly and trashing things etc. They have a numbers to ring [if it's council related or crime related]. They can also keep tabs on the neighbourhood like if mail hasnt' been collected in a while then the council can do a home check to see if the person is ok. Thought it was rather a brilliant idea. But they stress that the dog walkers must never actually try and stop anything themselves, let the police etc deal with it. They are merely the eyes and ears for the police/council. Some give discounts to the volunteers on pet products and the like, which is another good incentive. 10. Have a council green organics bin here, so all the poop goes in there along with cat litter [paper based], meat, veggies etc. On the odd chance I have had to pick up when out and about, I use council bins, as they're usually easy to find [near shops, parks or the like]. Doesn't bother me if people use the bin when it's out on the road before pickup [quite often people have for general rubbish] - rather that than it left on the roadside.
  11. Awwww Happity Birthday Nelsson looks like you had a wonderful day
  12. The pup Sarge has been sleeping in my bed since he came here. As he's gotten older he will opt to sleep on the floor, on a thick mat [but doesn't last long as he gets too cold]. Scout tends to want to sleep on the floor [since the pup came and a bed rail was installed to stop the pup rolling out of bed lol]. But if I offer for him to come up he sometimes does [usually is when it's freezing cold and steam breath is happening in my room]. But always the dogs are welcome to sleep in the bed, by invitation. If they choose to sleep on the floor then so be it.
  13. Happity Birthday ol man Mac, am sure you had a wonderful day
  14. I just break up their main meal into two smaller meals a day. Usually feed anywhere from 7:30-10:30 in the morning, then 7:30-10:30 in the evening. They usually poop straight after eating, so easy clean up.
  15. Lol would love to get my 2 the triceratops head sets. Be a crackup when they flob mash.
  16. Went along to training tonight with Sarge to register him for puppy 1 classes. At the orientation there was Sarge, a female Boxer, Amstaff, Staffy, Brit Bulldog, Maltese, Cocker Spaniel and a Terrier mix. Wasn't what I was expecting
  17. Took Sarge down to the shops for some socialisation with Scout yesterday [the only other time he went was on the way back from the vet and I was carrying him]. I'm used to the normal comments like "YaY puppy" or "What a cute Boxer". But was getting a lot of comments of "Wow it's so nice to see purebreds". To be honest I don't go down into the suburbs much, so not sure what's walking around the streets. But I didn't think it was that unusual not to see purebreds I've had Scout for 8 years and never had a comment like that before and have taken him to those shops for years. When I start going back to dog training [it's local], it will be interesting to see what types of dogs are there.
  18. I just get the bags on board blue bags from Coles. Seldom have to use them as Scout has always been one to wait until he's back home to do his business
  19. Noishe I was just having a look at the Ezydog website and they have reduced the price of the Convert in the gold colour (although it doesn't look gold to me - more a brown colour). Link here o0o0o Thank ye
  20. Agree, had more fun meeting and greeting people and their dogs at training than at a dog park. Did visit a dog park when mine was younger, but had too many hairy issues so never went back to one again, didn't want my dog getting hurt or learning silly/dangerous habits.
  21. I currently use the Ezydog Quick fit harness [chest strap, not plate] on my Boxer. He wears that in the car as well, I put the seat belt though the handle at the top [where the leash ring is]. But do have my eye on the Ezydog Convert harness [which looks like a better design].
  22. If you're worried about the pup digging and eating the garden/plants you're not sure of, you can temporarily fence off those areas with chicken wire, cable ties and stakes...leaving the entire grass area for the pup to play around in. I also say well done for going to a different vet, I'd be doing the same if in that position. Rather void any contracts and just do what's best for the pup. Though don't know how the contract would stand up to the ACCC and not getting proper vet treatment at the store's preferred vet.
  23. In this instance what happened to the kid was horrible, the dogs being euthed was horrible [though can understand why the owner did so]. In the suburbs I had chained and padlocked gates with alsynite to cover the bars, well away from the road - the front door was totally accessible. Still didn't stop kids jumping the padlocked fence and getting in with the huskies They [the dogs] never did anything, but it used to make me angry and I felt like my privacy was violated. If you've taken all the steps you can and kids still jump the fence what can you do??!!
