  1. Guess acute sense of smell doesn't come into it...mine can smell things inside that's coming from outside when fast asleep. Blows in under the doors [or through window gaps]. The other week Scout woke up to the smell of an echidna that was at least 20 meters away from the house. Took me a while to find it, but just followed where his nose led him and he stood looking. $600 for that training??!! More money that sense - but there are always the gullible I suppose
  2. Good plan Stan the man, decoy and subterfuge
  3. Had the first pudding poo tonight...inside Right in the middle of having dinner But after reading this thread, thinking it may have been a combination of him eating his log today and training treats [nature's gift chicken mini's] and re-eating them again via the log.. He's been doing nice firm logs since he came home over 2 weeks ago, so it was a bit of a surprise. But starting his clicker training now so I should've expected it. I just gave him his kibble tonight in the hopes it may help in firming him up, have to wait until later to see the after effects in regards to reward training, will add in more verbal praise with just a few treats to keep him focused [he only does a 5-10 minute on lead training session, then a few sessions inside, working on sit/drop/come etc.]. YaY to puppy bowels
  4. Still find the odd bit of husky hair and they've been gone for over 8 years [first one passed in 2000/2nd in 2002/3rd in 2005] - can't help but go awwww Nookal/Tusc/Tash hair [depending on colour] Get a bit of hair off the Boxers, but not the giant tumbleweeds of old lol
  5. That was definitely a close call Had a mini river here last night and the dogs had a ball running in the water under the veranda [it always gets like a mini river here when there's a lot of rain in one go and eventually just moves away].
  6. So far after the initial puppy price... $35 for a bag of RC Boxer Junior $20 on puppy loaf $10 Collar $1.45 plastic luggage tag for ID Toys are hand me downs of Scout's [just filled an old washing basket full and the pup goes to it and drags out what he wants]. Bed shared with Scout. Blanket, one of Scout's spares. Coat, cut down and remade from one of Scout's old weatherbeeta kennel ones [and a coles blue bag for the straps for the chest/belly] already had the sew on velcro. Only 13 weeks atm so not had next lot of vaccinations. Do have a voucher that came with his vaccination card to do desexing within 6 months for $115 [but will more than likely go through my normal vet for this procedure when they give the ok to do so]. Guess it helps having an older dog, have most of everything already on hand plus I like making things
  7. Do hope something is done to the officer, he tormented the poor dog for nearly 10 minutes
  8. Been noticing similarities between Scout and my new one Sarge. Scout is Sarge's Great Uncle, they have similar markings. Different head shapes though and Sarge looks like someone took a liquid paper pen to his face Scout 12 weeks old Sarge 12 weeks
  9. Currently have a 12 week old pup here and after eating he gets the sillies and has a ball
  10. What were her sleeping arrangements at your Grandmothers?
  11. Pom x next door tries to herds goats and chickens. Also plays with the big dogs, jumps in dams and the pool....enjoys mud baths.
  12. Had a quick look about 5 references to Dickendall Arnold in the great great grandsire/dam and one in the great great great section [think that's the right terminology].
  13. Came across this when looking at Sploid, don't really have any words to describe what I'm thinking except...poor dog There's a video of Pig on the page http://sploid.gizmodo.com/believe-it-or-not-this-is-a-real-dog-not-a-photoshop-1587328606
  14. My boy was desexed at 6 months and last year at 7 he was playing with the Kelpie next door. She was on her back and Scout was straddled over her. She was kicking him and hit his joyful spot which made him air hump and his penis stuck out with an erection and wouldn't go back in [he was very upset over it]. Same used to happen to my entire Sibe. So I just grabbed a cold water compress [folded old towel] and held it to him until his erection went down and the penis went back in - took about 2-3 minutes.
  15. Scout has had his jup jup toy since he was a small pup, it's had a few repairs but still going strong after 8 years
  16. +1 glad people are asking questions before letting people take them for a ride and take their money. Definitely sounds like a deshonko puppy maker
  17. There was only about 5 who didn't have posted phone numbers out of 30 odd. Sometimes you just have to be patient with emails as depending on what the breeder does, they can be busy busy. I'd usually wait at least a week before resending an email to them.
  18. Am I the only one who is grossed out by the thought of all those pets sitting in 'stuff'? Thought the same thing
  19. Reminds me of what I saw on Distractify the other day *warning contains underpants* http://news.distractify.com/fun/animals-fun/animals-in-pants/
  20. I just close the door on mine doesn't stop him standing guard right outside the door and waiting
  21. Would love to, but am jointically challenged these days [too many sporting injuries when younger]. Scout's also getting a lil long in the tooth to try out sledding
