A dog is not "almost human" and I know of no greater insult to the canine race than to describe it as such. The dog can do many things which man cannot do, never could do and never will do." John Holmes

Please Keep Hudson In Your Thoughts
Loving my Oldies replied to cassie's topic in General Dog Discussion
Thank god your beautiful big boy is out of the woods, Cassie. I'd never heard of bloat until I went to Burwood Pound many years ago where I was a volunteer walker to see a lovely big dog lying out in the sunshine on a rug with his owner hovering. Never having had dogs susceptible to this terrible condition, I still don't know much about it except that it has a very rapid onset and is a killer. Even though I have only toy breeds, I still follow the rules of no going for walks for some time after eating. Again, so happy for you that Hudson pulled through. -
Beautiful photos.

This is a very sad story, Joybelle, but I think you have posted it in the wrong forum. Ask the moderator for assistance.

Great news. Hope little Sampson lives to at least 20 to make up for lost years. -
Yes, I wonder from time to time - poor little thing I guess the best option would be to phone the zoo.

Stupid Things You Have Done As An Owner....

I'm not sure which is the winner ;) Naturally, I don't have any stories to tell . DOL's hard drive space would run out........... -
That is good news GSD FAN. I think it was the thread started by you I referred to above. Glad you weren't deterred by all of us

Although blood and guts aren't exactly something I want to see or be involved with, having several dogs of my own, I think it is something I could benefit from. So I'd like to put my hand up for this please, Corvus. If the "voucher" hasn't already been claimed, I'll pm you my details. Thank you very much.

Rommi n Lewis, you need educating. Sadly, that photo is relatively tame. I get a lot of mailouts from the various organisations I donate to, and I cannot even look at them. I just write a cheque every so often and sign petitions -
The Pamplona Bull Run: Little Dog In The Mix

The beauty of youth. When I was travelling in Spain (over 40 years ago ), I wanted to do that and even wanted to see a bullfight. But now? I hope bullfighting is eventually banned, unbelievably cruel and anyone who wants to do the Bull Run is crazy to take such a risk. Statistics are fine, but they don't mean much if you are the one with a horn up your groin. -
Max $200 Wow, that may limit you I believe. Sydney rents are incredibly overpriced at the moment. Bark is looking to share so if someone has a three bedroomed house with a vacant bedroom, it is possible . Hopefully something will come up quickly.

There was a thread recently about House Sitting with your own dog and most people responded in the negative, that is, they would not want a house sitter coming with their own dog. Just don't want you spending too much time chasing down dead ends, Bark.

Oh those photos with Jack are splendid. And the one of Luki and Bailey . Can it be true, he was ever that tiny and skinny . Wonderful photos telling wonderful stories of love. -
I'm not one for cliches, but something has been going over and over in my mind when I was thinking about you Jed, and it just wouldn't coalesce, but finally it has. What I think epitomises your experience and how you have faced it is the old saying: When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

Yes, I've had a few It's amazing really when you consider how many different sorts of pets and people they'd see in any one day.
