  1. My aircon runs 24/7 across summer. It's an evap aircon and my bill is around $500 a quarter. No way would I leave my dogs without aircon on a hot day. In winter I run the gas heater all night and turn it off as I leave for work. House is insulated and stays warm all day. Turn it back on when I get home and run it til next morning. Gas bill is $35 a fortnight
  2. I've got a bitch that tied 6 times across a period of 7 days. Anyone have any ideas how I can work out the bitches due date? I need to organise time off work and need the due date narrowed down a little. Used an experienced stud dog that tied with her on the first day then didn't want a bar of her the following day. He then tied with her another 5 times across the following 5 days.
  3. A basket of fruit is compensation for killing your dog? That's beyond bizarre.
  4. It stinks. Fed it one time but couldn't stand the smell
  5. I have a golden who is almost 9 yrs old that has been hard work from the day she arrived, and I suspect she will be hard work for the rest of her days. She would have been hell for a first time dog owner. Only yesterday she was accidentally left unsupervised outside for a short time and she dug up metres of lawn. She is sweet but incredibly determined and very destructive. She is a force to be reckoned with. It really comes down to individual dogs a lot of the time. Although clearly some breeds are not a good fit with novice owners,
  6. I love italian greyhounds and I like whippets, but would never own a greyhound. I love saluki's but would never own other large sighthounds. I love my golden but would never own a lab, love my boxer but would never own any other braccy breed. I'm also partial to the scruffers these days :)
  7. I read a review of this product agessss ago but can't remember where, helpful aren't i? Lol. From memory the reviews were favourable if that helps. However they were not reviewing it as a cool coat, just as an anti anxiety thing.

For regular worming I give 1ml per 10kgs body weight. To treat giardia I give 2mls per 10kgs body weight 3 days in a row. It's brilliant stuff! I've been using it for years. Eta: you need to work all the dogs and the cats on the property the same day or they just reinfect each other.
  9. I second a fauve as a great breed with kids. Mine is bombproof. Not too big, not too small, easy care coat. Not barky, loves to play and fine with cats. My girl is very drivey but Trish promises me you can get mellow ones lol. They are def worth a look.
  10. Looks god but bet it would stink like Nothing else after a while
  11. Gotta be made of tough stuff to be a breeder., Sorry to hear bel
  12. I'm in melb for the royal. I brought Nyx with me as she's still very clingy and I didn't want to leave her at home for a week without me. Unfortunately she decided to try and climb out if the puppy pen, got her foot caught and panicked. My poor girl .. Monash vets have been WONDERFUL I'm waiting to pick her up now.
  13. Wrapt to see beautiful babies! My stress continues as Nyx broke her bloody leg today! OMG what a nightmare.
  14. 13 pups Oh muh GAwd!!! Congrats! I'm thrilled for you guys :) Come on Nova! You're next!
  15. Years ago when working in a big hospital a 9 month old baby came in who had been beaten so badly she was brain dead. Child went on life support for 3 days while they ran tests etc. As I was on-call when she came in and it was going to be a homicide investigation I had to keep working with the family (instead of handing over to the ICU social worker). I will never forget the horror of those 3 days and having to work with the parents that had done this. It devastated me. The cruelty some people are capable of towards children is just mind blowing.
  16. Hang in there, vet will section and get your pups out :)
  17. I have desexed males, entire males, desexed females and entire females In the house. The entire males always try to mark in the house, and one of the entire females likes to pee on the other females's beds. These dogs that pee inside are all italian greyhounds, a breed that is notoriously difficult to housetrain. The IG girls are all litter trained but Ive had zero success litter training the IG boys.
  18. Yay. Hope it's an smooth hassle free whelp.., can't wait to see pics :)
  19. All good here, Nyx is mostly back to her usual bossy self :)
