  1. I don't think I can ever complain about Darcy's hair shedding now, I hardly even notice it amongst all the Sibe hairballs
  2. Last time I called the council about a dog, they said they wouldn't come and pick it up unless it was aggressive, and it was up to me to take it to the pound. Is my council just really lazy?

  4. The logical side of my brain knows he will be fine. But then the other part feels bad Oh well, I'm sure it will be a good experience for him, and at least if I ever had to board him in an emergency I will know how he will be.
  5. I have to put Darcy in a boarding kennel this weekend. It will be the first time I've ever left him with someone I don't know, and even though I know he will be fine I'm being a big sook and feeling sad about it. I feel like a bad mummy Its only for one night and I know its a good boarding kennel because OHs parents know the guy who runs it. But I can't help being a sook
  6. Jed, I just thought it seemed like you were being a bit rude but I guess you can't really read things like that into something that has been typed.
  7. That's a pretty big assumption to make.
  8. I don't think it will cause any problems. Darcy sometimes does it too.
  9. I did the same thing once while talking to OH on msn. I wrote huski instead of husky. I think it may have annoyed him just a little, being a huski husky person
  10. group 7 sure makes for a varied lineup though correct me if I'm wrong but the breed groupings can/do differ slightly from country to country yes? I was going off the lists on the ANKC website, I just thought it was strange
  11. Random question (sorry for the hijack) Why is it, that boston terriers and tibetan terriers are in group 7 (non-sporting) and not group 2 (terriers)?
  12. Many don't I'm afraid. Sad, but true. I would probably change "many" to "most" . Such a pathetic ignorant attitude of Councils. So councils will discount your registration costs if your pet is desexed, but they don't desex their animals before they let them go? That seems kind of silly...
  13. Don't pounds usually desex dogs before rehoming?
  14. With Darcy, it depends what he wants. If he wants to play, he will drop his ball somewhere near me and stare at it, then at me, then the ball again. If the ball has still not been thrown after a while, he will bark once. Then look at me again. Then the ball. If he is inside and wants to go out, he will stand at the door and stare outside, whining. If I'm in another room or can't see him, he will come into the room, bark once, then walk out. He will repeat this until I follow him. Outside and wanting to come in, he just stands at the door barking and whining until he gets in.
  15. If the person never mentioned that the dog was a gift, either the breeder didn't ask enough questions, or because they knew that if they said that, the breeder wouldn't give them a pup.
  16. My dog surprises me all the time. Like, whenever he does what he's told My first dog was a lot easier to train, he is more submissive and I taught him heaps of tricks when I was a kid, it was so easy because he just sat there and listened and I could get him to do anything with just small food rewards. Darcy was more difficult, he wouldn't focus on me and he was stubborn so its always rewarding when he gets to a point where he will do something right
  17. I've never had to pay a crazy amount of money for vet bills or done anything particularly 'out there'. I had a very nice soft and somewhat expensive mink blanket with a gorgeous tiger picture on it. I used to lay it over my legs while I sat on the lounge, and when Darcy was tiny he used to curl up at my feet on the tiny corner of blanket that reached the floor He just loved it. My beautiful mink blanket now belongs to Darcy. Its probably ready to be throw out though, he chewed the corners off and its pretty dirty I'm pretty nice to OH's dog too. I let her sleep on my lap when she was dropping coat and got yucky big white husky hair balls all over my black clothes. Now that, is generous
  18. Its not about looking after other people's children, its about OH & S and it applies to adults as well. If an employee spills something on the floor and doesn't clean it up, and someone slips on it and injures themselves, wouldn't you hold that employee responsible?
  19. Ashanali, I'm not disagreeing with you, obviously it is ideal that parents don't bring their children to the salon if they won't be able to watch them. But the reality is that some parents do bring their children with them, and I'm sure most hairdressers wouldn't turn away a client who had their child with them. So it is important to minimise safety risks and IMO that means not having an unsupervised dog in the salon.
  20. So that would mean IF the child was about to touch something dangerous, the business owner, (who by your thinking is responsible for the child) has FULL right to walk up and SMACK the child?? Most businesses have things kept up or away and it ISN'T because they are volunteering to take responsibilty for your children it is due to OH&S laws. Exactly, they keep things where they should be safety reasons, so no one gets hurt. I never once said that business owners should be babysitting, and IF a child was about to touch something dangerous, of course they business owner shouldn't smack them, but the fact still remains that the child should not have had access to whatever that dangerous thing was in the first place.
  21. You can't avoid having children in a hair salon. Whether you agree with it or not, the fact is people can and do bring their children with them to the salon. So it is the responsibility of the hairdressers to make sure they are not leaving dangerous things withing reach of small children. I've never been to a salon where dangerous chemicals were not stored at height, or in locked cupboards or a seperate room with a closed door, and hairdressers keep their scissors, hot irons, and other dangerous equipment stored away in trolleys (or sitting on top of the trolley while in use). Its simple really. If a child manages to get their hands on anything dangerous and gets hurt, then obviously someone has been irresponsible by leaving it where the child could get to it. You don't have children... that is clearly obvious. No, but I have worked in a hair salon and one of the first things I was taught, was how to correctly store chemicals and equipment and not to leave things lying around. I never suggested that business owners should be responsible for the children themselves, just that they need to be responsible for their own tools and equipment. Surely its just common sense not to leave a bowl of bleach anywhere other than a high surface when there are children around? Of course its easy to say that parents just shouldn't bring their kids with them but the fact is plenty of people do and I doubt that most salon owners would turn away a client because they had children with them.

  23. There are plenty of DOLers who know what happened. Aziah clearly isn't one of them. I saw no 'demand'. Maybe 'demand' was the wrong word. But comments such as "you didn't answer my question" when it was clear that it was being deliberately avoided, it does come across as being somewhat pushy. Anyway, it doesn't matter now.
  24. Now you're being nasty! The question was only asked with the intention of causing trouble, and to find a reason for another dol slaughtering. I can understand why Bub chose not to answer. I dont think so,for many of us who have followed Bubs post over the years we all new that the second dog they had was Bubette, now there is no Bubette but a Bit bit so i gather like many one is curious whether something tragic happened or if Bit bit was Bubette with a name change? No conspiracy there. But as Bit bit is only about 8 months it is now obvious there not the same dogs Still, whatever happened its no one else's business. What if something tragic did happen? Demanding to know what happened is just plain rude IMO.
