  1. I just put Sandi as the account name, and it worked (well, it took my money out of my account!) so hopefully you'll still receive it
  2. Beags could possibly fit but they don't always do well on their own for long periods of time. If you were after a beagle, I would strongly consider getting another dog down the track. They can be stubborn and naughty and do require a fair bit of training. Most cannot be let off leash unless in secure areas. They are short coated, but shed a lot of hair for a dog that has so little of it! Most also need a fair bit of mental and physical stimulation especially if he will be an only dog. I know a few beags who are quite good watch dogs (Daisy has a fairly decent "scary" bark!)
  3. Got your PM Ptolomy, have deposited my money
  4. So you're saying that a dog could work in prey drive for a toy, but that you've never seen it and all the dogs you've seen working for a tug/toy/chasing anything that is an object have all been working in play drive, due to slightly differences in body language? How do you define play drive - what is the basic desire/instinct behind it? What do you consider a dog working for food (in a highly aroused state) doing? Are they working in food drive or play drive? If you've seen a scent hound working a scent, it's clear they are in drive - if it's not prey drive, then what drive would they be working in? Then there is an example of a prey drive directed to a toy. You're one to talk :D
  5. PMSL!!!! I am quite sure I've heard Steve tell the story of how he can call his male GSD off a bitch in heat a few times, wonder if those skills will come in handy with teenage boys?? Or will it be straight to the e-collar?
  6. And not just on the website either by the sounds of things :D I can just see poor "Stevette" now at 16 waiting for her boyfriend to pick her up. Stevette says to boyfriend pick me up at 8:00 and we'll party all night just ignore all the protection dogs, e-collars, prong collars and bite equipment etc oh then there is Dad he may snarl and growl a little but once you understand what drive he is in you will be able to handle him with ease ;) Congrats to you and Mrs Steve PMSL! I don't like his chances
  7. Micha very rarely - Sibes are very clean dogs that don't tend to have that doggy odour and are self cleaning. He can roll in mud and a few hours later looks clean again Maybe four times a year at the most. Daisy also gets bathed rarely, whenever she needs it really. Cherry needs more frequent baths as she gets smelly easily, at least twice a month really.
  8. What difference in body language (in your experience) can you see in dogs training in food drive vs dogs training in what you define as play drive vs dogs working in what you define as prey drive? Others here have defined the basics of prey drive as the dog's instinct to catch and grab prey, what is your basic definition? Does the dog have to be chasing after a live prey item to be in (what you define as) prey drive?
  9. Pffffft, I embarrass myself all the time
  10. Happy birthday Ivan! Great pics Ruth
  11. Training is so much fun! You are welcome to join us for a training session any time
  12. I would never do anything over a C5. I hear that more and more clubs are accepting titre tests as well as vacc cards too which is great to see.
  13. Awwwww that is so exciting! HUGE congrats to the K9Pro family Steve
  14. Obviously you haven't watched the latest video I sent you yet So no mini Steve/Stevettes to be expected in June then?? :D
  15. I saw that too - I am thinking the same thing seeing as the emphasis was on the word expecting!
  16. I know! I am just impatient and want my new tugs asap! *stamps feet* I got a message to say that it would be sent out as soon as it was back in stock (less than a week or so)! Bahaha impatient just like me Sounds like a plan, Steve Will put my handling on hold until you get here
  17. Steve said they will honour the discount even if they are out of stock and have to back order, so don't lose hope yet Nic
  18. Of course not! Not sure there is much to learn from my utube channel though, my handling is terrible for starters, but we are learning too
  19. LOL - nothing interesting to see there yet! She rarely barks during training but tonight she was REALLY excited and into it... naughty habit we are working on breaking.
  20. LOL - my dog is known as the Evil Beagle :p Personally I wouldn't be crating her all day, I think she is far more likely to be happy being left alone with a bit more room to move (whether you leave her in the yard or the sectioned off area). It will be some time before she's old enough to go for walks, the general rule is five minutes of structured exercise like a walk per month of age, so she will be well over six months before you can take her for half an hour walks. I find mental stimulation is the best way to tire them out, more so than physical exercise. Training training and more training, just keep it fun and make a game out of it As for barking/howling, I am no help, even going through our paces for obedience tonight I couldn't get Daisy to shut up http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SB_GVmsqOqY
  21. K9: Oh stuff about dogs. I am surprised you didnt pick up my little drive trigger "releasing STAGE TWO!" Stuff about dogs? No way! Hehe, I didn't pick it up, obviously I am not responding to my drive triggers what do stages three and four involve??
  22. Looking forward to the newsletters Steve! What kind of info are you going to put in them?
  23. Wanna trade? You can have the Evil Beagle, I'll have either of your labs I am being a bit silly admittantly - Daisy is pretty good, I just needed to find the right motivation and method to channel her drive/natural instincts (she still has moments of evilness though). On the topic of stays (just so I'm not totally railroading the thread) I find mixing it up with stays has helped. I find that Daisy can get bored with stays so I've been trying to build anticipation a bit by releasing her after a couple of seconds, then after twenty seconds, then after five seconds etc etc to keep her on her toes.
  24. Quinn, our GSP is dog number four. After three Beagles she is simply easy...and such a delight. Of course there will be dog number five but not until Quinn's first litter which I am hoping for in late 2011. Oh sorry Shelley I thought you were saying you were getting a fourth dog to go with the three you already have See, trial with a beagle and then anything else is a breeze
