  1. Those two videos are great, Mrs D! Huge congrats on your quallie, Maree!!
  2. FTPO, I actually have a sample of appeteaser, but forgot about it when it comes to putting it on liver. Will definitely try it
  3. Don't worry, Erny - I'm sure lots of people haven't seen it, and for those of us who have, it's worth seeing again
  4. It's one of my favourites too Kavik, it never gets old! Cracks me up every time, what an amazing little dude.
  5. I've never had this become a problem. Daisy has never confused a LAT with a left turn. We also do the around the back finish, as she's just as unco as me when it comes to do the flip turn ;)
  6. I don't know if one is better for trials, but I'm really unco so I prefer to do the left about turn where the dog goes behind you. I get the impression that some people may think it's a bit slack because my dog's only fairly small (17kg) but it works for us so :D
  7. That's what I've been doing. They still really dislike it though, although they will eat liver this way if I chop it really finely. However, they won't touch kidney no matter how I serve it. Fussy buggers!

    Beagle

I love the Kislev beagles especially after meeting BeagleBoys2's lovely boys and seeing them in action :D
  9. I went to Jack Purcells today to stock up on some food for the puppies, for just under $30 I got: - 6 lamb hearts - 4 turkey wings (all they had left :D ) - 2 kgs of chicken wings - 6 pig trotters - about 1.5-2kg of chicken necks - a tray of meaty lamb bones (I think it was about a kg worth?) Not a bad haul I put them into portions and froze most of it. I have some chopped liver in the freezer at the moment that I will feed the puppies in the next couple of days, they are such a PITA when it comes to offal
  10. I fed mine raw pig trotters for the first time only a couple of weeks ago and the dogs loved them. I don't think they were very fatty at all. It took ages for the dogs to eat them and they really enjoyed them, they had no problems later. I will definitely feed them again
  11. Would love to see some video if you have any, Mrs D
  12. I agree with Tilly, try building distractions up slowly, going from a low distraction environment like your home to a really really high distraction environment like dog school is a big ask! Don't ask him to run before he can walk, in other words. Build his focus in distracting environments slowly. The general rule is time before distance before distraction. So - get him working well in a low distraction environment before gradually increasing the level of distraction.
  13. My dogs go absolutely nuts for Sasha's Blend, in fact I think they'd eat the whole container if they managed to get a hold of it
  14. My totally unbiased opinion is that this is the best photo of the lot ;) Except Daisy has a bit of her uggo mouth syndrome going on.... ;)
  15. Yep, I always make enough to freeze lots ;)
  16. That is what I was trying to get at, but you said it way better than me
  17. I agree, which is why Dr Rowan is popular as he specialises in chiro and acupuncture as well as being a vet
  18. Not sure where you are in Brissy, but I would consider going to see Dr Rowan Kilmarten at Animal Options http://www.animaloptions.com.au/
  19. Thanks FTPO, I will definitely be going earlier in the future Not sure about the pork, I've read various opinions about feeding it.
  20. I go to Purcells to get doggy stuff too They had heaps more stuff when you went than when I went a week or so ago Where did you find the turkey wings? Where they at the butchers counter or on a shelf? And chicken wings/drumsticks in bulk? They did have raw pig trotters when I went though and the dogs loved them
  21. So far, I haven't needed to mince it up, chopping it finely and mixing it with sardines or minced meat seems to work I haven't tried spleen or brain yet, I wouldn't have a clue where to get them - I am always on the look out though! The dogs had raw pig trotters this last week and they LOVED them - they were great as it took the dogs ages to get through them. I will definitely be feeding them again. I got a bag of six for $3 from a local butcher. Staranais, or anyone who feeds raw based on the prey model diet, when you aren't feeding RMBs, what meat do you feed? Most of the meat I feed the dogs comes from RMBs, but then again I do tend to follow more of a BARF based diet (which is also what my holistic vet advises). My dogs don't like roo meat so I sometimes just feed them beef mince mixed with vegies or yoghurt or sardines or whatever, to give them a change from the RMBs.
  22. Yes, that's what I've always been told - but its still great to feed At least my dogs actually quite like heart, unlike liver/kidney etc
  23. TBH I don't feed offal daily, I do a couple of 'offal' meals a week - generally liver - as well as one meal of heart a week.
  24. I'm sure some dogs will feel the cold too, but its a bit silly to insinuate that every dog is uncomfortable sleeping outside or that all dogs would prefer to be inside. My dog is more comfortable outside. I've even tried forcing him to sleep inside when we've had a storm (even though on the deck its completely dry) and he doesn't settle, paces and just wants to go back outside to sleep. It might be hard to believe for those posters who think dogs should never be kept outside, but he loves it In fact all my dogs spend a lot of time outside (with the back door open - so access to inside whenever they want) although with our weather board house sometimes its warmer sitting in the sun outside than it is inside the house ;)
