sars .. cold tail, anal gland probs, lower spine ouchies, are the obvious ones ... is the rest of the dog normal? ear carriage, posture? is dog happy and behaviour normal at these times? When you go to the vet ... could you get a video to show them?

Hope all goes well, and that you remember to spend lots of time with him , keeping that brain occupied , so it's MUCH more fun than figuring out how to get past a fence ;) oh .. and make sure his microchip details are up-to-date !! :)

That's the thing - pups can be brought up to never set foot over a very low fence ... an aduklt dog who knows the fun to be had in 'the chase' needs to be 100% controlled immediately , so they don't learn how to circumvent any physical containments ( and they WILL.. ;) )

I mean in the same dog ... sorry . I have had two dogs suffer from it .. but only once each over their life ... didn't know it could recur ...

Our house yard - almost 6 ft high netting ... with extra wires along top....for house dogs ... Outside/working dogs are on chains when not with us .
-
..and how do you know this for sure ? has he been to the new place and seen the sheep thru that fence? Sorry .. with living things there are no definites, really ;) Dog runs can be sourced from online sale sites/freecycle ( look for chook pen , stock pen...) ..and you can start off small/secure, and work up , with time and expertise ;)
-
But does that happen "often" ?

ringlock and barb for a dog unused to such fences , but with high prey drive , is inviting trouble I would not do it , unless my dogs had very good training , and little prey drive. I once trained one of my dogs to never step thru a plain 4 wire fence unless I was there to magically open it ;) he was taught from a puppy .Luckily he never wanhted to really chase anything!

Totally useless

great idea ! :)

Definitely build a LARGE enclosure ..and make it interesting , with paddle pool/sandpit /toys/shade , etc :) this is a MUCH better option that chasing sheep . :)

A vet visit will give you some answers, sars. :) it could be all sorts of things .

That's a good update ... keep up the learning !!

itchy dogs I lived with one who was allergic to many grasses /artificial food colourings /pollen. he just had anti histamines/prednisolone every 2nd day ..plus the addition of Vit C (injections) and some kinesiology . Diet was all sorts of vege peelings - cooked , plus many types of raw meat /bones . TThe itches never ever went completely - but he died at around age 12 , after 10 yrs on that regime ..and was active and happy for 98 % of that time .

Hope puppy is feeling better very soon .

I certainly could not live in a small space with one noisy dog! ours are all over the place ..and every bark has a meaning ..

Friends adopted a gorgeous rescue tibbie, Zou Chai. For months, he didn't utter a sound. Then, one Friday night, the family was sitting around eating pizza. Suddenly, there was one percing, loud bark. The family got such a fright, that pieces of pizza flew up in the air. It was Zou Chai wanting some pizza , too. That's when they knew he now considered himself 'family'. Loved your post, persephone! :) ha!! cute story, mita .
