  2. ..and pls tell me dogs will only get the front half of the yabbies .... yabbie tails are deelicious!
  3. Ha! We often joke we wish Scottie was useful! he is :) bedwarmer /fly catcher/smile maker...
  4. Oh .. 'pick it up !' :) Saves me bending down to pick up socks, etc ...
  5. The iceblocks our dogs get are ice cream container size ..and 90% water ..with some treats in. The idea is that they have cool water..for a longish time ... with the odd treat as a payoff :) I use dry kibble, apple slices , a liver treat or three and one chicken wing(already frozen so it doesn't taint the water) or similar My reasoning is that I do not want milky/meaty juice everywhere ..plain water is much nicer ;)
  6. "BACK" :) saves much frustration ;) Don is walked on a long line ..and often goes around a bush/log...whatever . As soon as I say BACK ..he reverses , and so doesn't get tangled :) LOVE it .
  7. Why don't you just train him to walk/run to where you want him ? he has good young legs ..and doesn't need to be picked up ;) use yummy treats or a favourite toy , associated with a word .. and he will get it in no time, I expect :) Coming IN ..could mean being fed ... going OUT could mean a yummy treat or a bone, or game ... don't use treats for anything other than obeying /learning ;) Do not be tempted to use them just because he looks cute ! As long as he is used to a leash /collar ... use that . ALWAYS associate putting on a leash with praise/treats :)
  8. Ok ... glad you are happy with the results ... hope he starts eating again!!
  9. Dear old Benny !! Who said old dogs can't learn new tricks ;)
  10. It is not my decision . If it were , that tail would be shortened , as healing time, and discomfort would probably be LESS than what he has now ....
  11. I doubt it is worms ... and I DO hope you stress to the vet just how long this has been happening ..and the fact that he hasn't eaten ANYTHING at all over the past 24 hrs!! poor boy ....
  12. Looks as if some things need changing ...
  13. he does definitely need a vet visit - keep us posted .:)
  14. Hope all goes well at the Vets .. keep us posted . Your dog is not 'old' yet ;)
  15. HERE is the original story ... and the line <<< If it were my dogs ..and the above is true ... they would all still be alive . An eight yr old arm is small . ONE good bite would be more than enough to cause severe damage
  16. Totally agree with this. My first thoughts after the initial report were that the dog saw something moving at the fence and grabbed it. Still stand by this theory. It was something out of the ordinary for the dog and just latched on. I notice the family of the little girl are calling for people to pay attention to their fencing, they're not calling for the dog in question to be PTS (not that I've read anywhere anyway), which is absolutely reasonable. But seeing the picture of little Thalia, really hits home how much her life has changed forever. It's now putting a face to this horrific story. It is odd that the dog hasn't been PTS, but there is something missing from the story. agree .The two stories do not mesh well .
  17. Agree with Rebanne on this one. You also probably should not have sold a pup where the litter was unwell.
  18. :) The Boss insists on calling Puddenhead PLUTO .... , and Jeff is 'LEGS' , as "Where's my legs ..I can't find my legs !...." LOL
  19. probiotic - I just use a good human one .. half quantity if anyone here is unwell ... My go-to this month is the one which needs no refrigeration ..natures way, I think ..
  20. Aah yes .. One of ours is like this ... her tail seems on a swivel permanently!
  21. I LOVE the captions ..and the paintings. Thanks. I also love the split nosed dog! the "Muscle Hound " :) And the "Worried Eyebrow " with "pillow feet"
  22. Good news :) Hopefully some probiotics daily now will keep him comfortable :)
