  1. ..do you have plans for a new dog? Obedience?Guard? House pet? Show?Jogging companion? What you have listed are pretty much what everyone is looking for ....a pretty much 'perfect' dog ;) Some traits are genetic, some individual personality, some breed, and some are only after training. It's always tricky to find 'the' one - glad you are researching.
  2. perhaps remove that FB page until you're sure then ? Poor girl.
  3. lloyd- perhaps have a browse in THIS THREAD ? It gives lots of information on size/coat/trainabilty/temperament etc . next step is to get a reputable breeder - so as to avoid problems cause by bad breeding ... CLICK HERE
  4. :) They're so interesting - old truck bodies . I love the lichen growing on them ..and the rust patterns ...
  5. Agree with just small meals and often, of a good balanced diet . Introducing fatty foods suddenly may not do her any kindnesses .
  6. if we have a litter of pups born.. Dougie will sometimes visit - and sit watching them .... he's a strange bod - but then again, so have all my cats been ;)
  7. T - Feral is not usually at the house in which we live - the dogs would sort him out ! Dougies is on my bed at night - and only outside for a max of a few hours ..so no contact. Dougie (and old Bernie) would however, bail up ferals ..then wait for us to appear with a gun - whereas they would step aside ...then come & inspect the fallen body . ....
  8. Thanks folks - I am glad most of our pups get on with cats ..a couple don't unfortunately . Luckily also , all those years ago when Dougie wandered in here - he was absolutely bomb proof :) he has 'brought up' a lot of youngsters over the years ...
  9. "hey B, Dougal wants to come out for a play ." "Dougal..you DO, don't you?" "Yes please,B... Open this run gate niaooooowwww" . B opens gate - "Yay.. Don, Look - it's Dougie ...Playtime !" "Hmmph ... watch the paws & fangs , you two.. I haven't had breakfast yet ... & I'm not feeling all that tolerant ! "
  10. hello :) feed him what you normally feed - but cut it back by 1/2 for a while , Avoid fatty treats like dog 'lollies' , pigs ears etc .... and get him excited about things like thin slices of apple or sweet potato or carrot ..browned in a non stick pan ..and cooled :) That's an easy way .. other will have different regimes . I like having their tummies shrink a bit - not be filled with a lot of low calorie 'filler' ... and provided he has had a vet check to rule out any disease ..he should feel much fitter over time .

  12. ..there are many many mixed breed dogs who are stable and healthy , however , ANY living creature .. whether it is a cockroach, or a human , can be born with problems...
  13. Looking forward to seeing pics as she settles :)
  14. wow! Take it very slow with her .... she has a whole new life to fit into , and is carrying all sorts of baggage ... I presume she is still very young? Hopefully she will grow into a lovely and happy girl under your care ! She looks SO much better now :)
  15. if he is getting worse ...then perhaps there is some physical thing happening in his brain ... but to find that out needs more testing/scans etc . its at times like this it would be so good if they could talk ..and help us find the problems - and he certainly sounds one unhappy and worried boy I would strongly suggest you start using ADAPTIL in some form , just see if it lessens some of that anxiety at all ? maybe even spray some on your clothing as well ....
  16. LOL ...... what a morning - and yes, I agree - lucky-VERY - and well.... maybe not unlucky - but educated a bit more :p
  17. Hopefully it was just something nasty he had .... no more diarrhoea is good! Just give him mouthfuls of water, often ..or the mere weight of a decent drink may make him vomit - and dehydration gets a hold
  18. Hi - your pup is a teen - and is loving having these new toys!! I would suggest at first , not allowing any mistakes ! This can be done keeping pup away, by using baby gates or , if he's crate trained ..use that way :)..or have him outside ? Also - have him lying on his bed, on lead ... In your daily training , practice lots of lying down/calm behaviour with him , too :) CLICK HERE for some useful info : you might also find some tips if you CLICK HERE
