I saw a rosella sitting beside its mate on the side of the road, just sitting there. On the way back it flew into my car and killed itself. It was very romeo and Juliette. Did the 'dead' one then sit up only to find its mate despatched by your car? 'Cause that would very, very Romeo and Juliette! But quite seriously that is quite sad that that happened MUP yes. Sorry, that makes me smile ... that you have such a high opinion of joe/josephine public . So many first time puppy buyers buy a mixed breed, and would have little knowledge of what they may need to provide . pedigree dogs are also often purchased before research is done , and often, too because uncle or stepmum had so & so a breed & they looked wonderful .. If looks were not almost a priority in selling dogs - we would maybe have lots of medium coat, beige dogs , who all looked a similar shape , but with differing temperaments ..(a HUGE quantum leap , and facetious , sorry ... :D ) Looks are so important , as they also are the first thing which produce that warm fuzzy feeling Dogs/puppies with a shorter muzzle , pudgy legs ,.eyes innocent and 'pleading' & a bit 'buggy' .. & that baby pup fuzz...they are the ones who get the maternal feelings going , to bash down sensible reasoning ;) Can you blame people ?,.I don't .It is not THE responsible way to go about buying a pet ...but it is probably the most common.

Rat Lungworm Disease? Not nice . AFAIK These parasites spend time in the bodies of rats ..and also snails .. Hope your little girl suffers only temporary loss of function , and that she'll be home again soon.

I would suggest getting her a large enough crate where she can sleep /rest.... make it smell like her , with an unwashed , unpee'd on lot of bedding .... rub treats over the wires ...place her fave toys in there ..and direct her there each time she comes in, or when she usually does the couch thing ....make this space the ONLY spot she gets treats /toys (apart from outside ) . Do not lock her in until she goes in there happily by herself ..takes her toys/bones in there to chew ..it may take some time ...her crate is not meant to be a punishment cell - rather her own place ..where she can snore & fart & stretch out to chew things happily and without disturbance ;) Perhaps when unsupervised she is in an area devoid of couches , too .. NO human furniture privileges ( and they ARE an earned privilege - not a right ;) )

is this a recent thing ? I worked amongst labs for almost 20 yrs at one stage ..and while I saw some with a thicker coat/and some ruff/ waves down the spine ..there were never any with hair actually longer/curly . Interesting :)

This photo series has been around for some time ... I found the page on which I originally saw it - and the comments which follow are very interesting . LINK HERE. I believed then , and still do, that one bird was trying to 'take advantage of' another less fortunate . I have seen this in my bantams .. on occasion when I have had to catch /despatch a hen ..the rooster will pounce on the body if possible and display rough mating behaviour .... :) From your post, it seems to me your dog is being possessive and 'bad mannered' , IMO. being a puppy has meant it looks cute .....however , he may start to shove more , and be more assertive as he grows - not a really good thing. he may be 'claiming' you as HIS ..and not want the other dog near you ... this is also not a good thing . Most dogs are more happy & secure when they are taught that they actually own NOTHING .. everything they use/eat/play with,belongs to their human .. ;) this includes affection/cuddles!! AS the resident human and all-powerful deity - it is your choice as to when pats/treats/body contact is given ..not the dog :) Yes, by all means love and pat/treat him ...but it may work much better if he earns it for other things than just being fluffy and cute ;) Have a read of this - called "Nothing In Life Is Free" ...where dogs are rewarded as long as the behaviour they are showing is one YOU want ..so if your dog wants cuddles etc - he must 'play by the rules' . It's a bit like teaching human kids to say please, to sit quietly , or to not interrupt ...that's all - an everyday way of life :) read about it HERE

yep , walk in, say hello, and when she moves , "AAAAGH"! watch & see her twitch , her ears go back , and her eyes pop , and explain that you thought she was being dominant , and it's good to see her freeze in fear & confusion, all dominance gone ! ;)

maybe a bit early to consider a rehome .. however, they may not ever be best friends. .... Feed separately out of sight of each other ..and immediately collect bowls . Don't put them in situations where they both need to get to a place or thru a door at the same time ;) Walk them at the same time ..as far as is comfortable ...one in each hand ..maybe somewhere new ?..Just walk ..No stops..no park ..just a gentle straight walk .....

That was a good article ! Our workers all have front dews ..any mutant rear ones are certainly removed . I can see their benefit in active situations, and also when eating large bits of dead animals .... On the other hand , when I was working with both guide dogs and live in therapy dogs the removal of front dews provided more safety for fragile people..less scratches, no chance of these claws being hooked in fabric, etc ..and certainly one less task when grooming - esp when people only check basics a lot of the time. I also saw how sometimes my poor Mum would get Hamlet's dewclaw marks on her thin skin .... If I have a house dog/couch potato type . some day ,. I would prefer no dews.
