But - which end to cuddle :) ? -
:) Do keep us posted !

;) she can't if she is on a long light lead . My first aim for this dog would be a recall .... sit isn't so important ..but coming when called IS :) use whatever she is most fond of as a reward ... and have her on a long light leash until she does it automatically :) Train only for a couple of minutes at a time ..and set her up to succeed!
-
Any reason you don't use a lead? IMO that is much preferable to grasping her collar .. ( just clip it on calmly ..no conversation) it can also be used as a training time .. Use a word/phrase to call her out of bed ... another as she follows you, and another for toileting :) ..followed by a happy praise :)

Which is why upset owners are perhaps not the best people to administer medicines which may be dangerous :( Perhaps the owner was very upset ,and not thinking clearly .....
-
perhaps , as ibuprofen is toxic? As a professional , 'prescribing' a drug which can be lethal and trusting a distraught owner to administer it was not a responsible decision? perhaps the more responsible action would have been to advise the owner to find transport and get to a clinic.. ? I don't know ... it's horrible, whichever way.

How sad. The poor owner I've never heard of ibuprofen used for cats . I was taught , that like Aspirin, it is toxic and to be avoided.

Annoying Behaviour We Cant Get On Top Of
persephone replied to baf65's topic in General Dog Discussion
;) a time machine :p these behaviours had their origins a few years ago , probably ,when cute puppy stuff happens, and cons us. Puppies are very good trainers !! I would now be VERY organised & firm ... dog is crated or tethered or outside when food is being prepared , for a start. all this obviously needs TRAINING ... it will be a process of a little & often , and eventually it can be done easily .Don't just LOCK dog in a crate or outside .. there needs to be a big incentive! A favourite meaty bone /meal/toy ..a treatball filled with HIS food ..or a frozen kong ... so outside becomes the food place :) prepare his meal away from his sight ... and do NOT feed him treats unless he has them as a reward for performing a task. Hamlet was a cocker X and a garbage /bin scrounge, etc .. however, I could also use his head as a table if I was eating on the couch ..and he would sleep ..... If he could do it , anyone can, I think :p have a read of THIS, too, and see if it might work in your house . EVERYONE needs to be on the same page though. -

LINK TO STORY (with an image) I I wonder what pleasure those doing this get from it ?

Not necessarily. The dog has shown aggression only to the child. In another place he might be the perfect dog . Finding that place that could be difficult, time consuming and probably emotionally exhausting. from the first post in this thread .. and he has bitten a baby now ... responsible rehoming would be a very, very difficult task indeed, and would just add to the dog's stress /confusion now ... poor boy.

On-lead Empowerment Or Disempowerment
persephone replied to mackie's topic in General Dog Discussion
I was always taught that some dogs can feel more insecure on a leash when there are confrontations ..and that this may lead to increased aggression/defence .Their subtle body language will change ,as well..that body language which other dogs can read . Dogs can survive without going to a dog park .... they can play with friends' dogs , and be walked on a longline in areas away from parks , attend classes which excercise their brain as well , or they can be given tasks to gain their food while at home ..keeping them occupied and happy . You may feel more at ease if a professional can meet with your dog and explain to you what is really going on - this is almost impossible to do over the 'net.... your boy is now becoming mature and finding his feet - it would be great if he and you get a good grounding at this time ,IMO. -
I think, with the measures in place and the stress of it for the dog and for you, that giving him his wings may well be the sensible and responsible option
