  1. Seems dog has severe nausea ...and I am surprised the vet didn't give you anything to help with that Nausea can be caused by all sorts of things, and after such an op ... it is a real worry, and I'm sorry you are having trouble . A dog not eating/drinking , and still trying to recover from surgery Did the vet give extra fluids per I.V or injected under the skin?Seems to me he needs supplementing with fluid /nourishment now ..before it gets worse The more dehydrated he gets, the sicker he will feel ......
  2. IMO chicken frames are less of a risk than necks ....necks can and do get swallowed ...frames need chewing , and provided dogs are left alone and away from competition..they can relax and enjoy :)
  3. Hi :) nipping/playing using teeth is obviously great between pups..but not great for humans It may well last until the pup is taught otherwise ..be it 2 days or a year! if you click on this LINK it will show you that you are NOT alone ..and there are many different ways to go about making life more comfortable :) I suggest you also have read of the ebook you will find when you click this LINK, too :)
  4. I hope that you can rest a bit now too .... she may be a bit stressed ,( and some dogs aren't stressed as much when owners are not there ;) ) but is getting what will do her the most good ...
  5. :) I'm glad she is now in the best of care ...it would be very difficult indeed to do it all at home!.
  6. Glad you have some help available :) let us know of progress , and best of luck.
  7. He had a sweet face :) Write down funny stories etc now...while your mind is dredging them up :) Then you'll have things to look back on ...
  8. after reading those FB comments - It is so sad that so many people seem to not live in the real world , where there are never enough caring homes for pound dogs ....even the stable and healthy ones ...
  9. Perhaps this is why the dog was in the pound? What did the Pound's temperament test discover? Why was the dog in teh pound, did they say? What did your vet find in the "here is my new dog , is he all present and correct?" check before you brought him home ? Did the dog react to other dogs there? He is stressed.. your dog is stressed .... you are stressed.... I suggest -either separate and introduce very gradually ..or return the dog now . What someone else needs to do to sort out their dog problems may not be at all what you and this pound dog needs. With your training experience ..you will know that every animal is different, every reaction to situations differs somewhat , and any education needs to be tailored. the use of a crop may well be exacerbating feelings of defensiveness/aggression ... the breeds making up this dog may also affect how it is behaving .... and what needs to be done. it is not a 'gun dog' temperament, or a terrier temperament ...
  10. It's good that he is so helpful :) (and cute !)
  11. YES!!!! ..and not just a few days, either . If the vet did a sudden halving of dose ..perhaps find another vet?
  12. Welcome , but I am sorry it is under such a sad circumstance. Have specialists seen Molly ? Uni vet hospital or someone, or is this a 'GP' vet? I don't know about her condition ....but will be thinking of you ,and hoping you can find answers.
  13. One of my brother's bitches dug a huge hole and protected her 'pup' , a toy penguin, with great gusto for a week or so!! She 'weaned' pup early ..carrying it with her ..until one day she just didn't bother .She had a little mammary development ..but it disappeared quickly :)
  14. These three gorgeous little westies sharing our Semaphore coffee & almond cookie Supper when I was in Adelaide ...... and they really are white ;) and a snap of some of the Semaphore Scenery :) My Iphone was battling
  15. Here's to a comfortable night ,and a happier tomorrow :)
  16. :) You may be having the odd palpitation , out of concern ; however if the vet palpates the bitch, they may feel if there is anything internal .
  17. I would probably take him to a vet ..vomiting post surgery is not a really good thing .... and he needs all his strength . Hope he's OK.
  18. ( bit of a side track) Did the vets do all the checks for ingrown/extra lashes/blocked tearducts/small growths on inner eyelids , etc? Is it worse at certain times? perhaps , if it is a reaction to dust/pollen you may be able to manage the environment somehow? Good luck with the eyebright :)
  19. Maybe contact someone like Robert McDowell Herbal? They may have a more specialised plant /compound database or something?
  20. What strange reactions is she having? Paralysis, unfortunately is one symptom ....and hopefully with time, will improve. Keep her quiet ..... feed the best possible food ..maybe with some paraffin oil to aid in defecation (hopefully those muscles are not badly damaged ) and I advise phoning Robert McDowell Herbal LINK thinking of you ...
  21. Karge ice blocks she can lick , and discover frozen liver treats etc ..? Do you have a baby pram or something she can be propped up in to go out & about? drag her around the house on a beanbag /thick bed ..... Roll her around on the carpet/lawn .. help keep her muscles a bit alive and improve circulation that way , as well as giiving her brain some sensation of movevment :) Make sure she is often changed from side to side and has those legs massaged - this will give her something to think about ;)
