10 Month Old Gsd With Severe Hip Dysplasia
persephone replied to bianca.a's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Glad he's home :) , and I am sure once he is used to the routine, he will enjoy the convalescing bit :) If you are home with him ..I suggest he will be much more settled not in a crate ... I worry about crates/coneheads & massive surgery & limbs not being able to be as flexible as they should.... I have seen/heard dogs really hurt themselves trying to turn around /get comfortable ..either legs /knees hit the wire, or they try & twist around ..cone hits wire , & dog loses some spatial knowledge , & maybe twists a limb th e wrong way -
Oakley looked lovely :) I hope his sister copes OK now .. for you ....

I like it when dogs "flea" me like that :)

Hey, pesh ..to practice with on the cheap, why not try something like this ? LINK. I have a set that I use sometimes on my Canon :)

answering without seeing him, obviously a confident and dominant dog may show similar behaviour ...... his behaviour may not be 'puppyish' ...

Thankyou, folks.....

AS Pyometra is an infection ... I would think heredity plays little part in it? We have had 3 bitches with pyo over the (many, many) years, a couple have had mammary tumours .. while they may not be common , they are a life threatening problem ....

Supplements For A Raw Diet
persephone replied to Dory the Doted One's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Dory should do ok with a good variety of meats/bones ... red/white/fish, plus egg -
maybe use his normal food then, instead of treats ? hat way he gets his meal by doing good stuff ..and being rewarded :)
-
is it on a special diet ? Any allergies? dried apple popcorn Low fat options..... ? those dried lung treats.... kangaroo jerky would be very low fat ... or dry your own roo meat ! flavoured sunrice rice crackers - the caramel ones go down very well here :)

Well Done !! :) Onward & Upward ....

Has Anyone Else Had A Dog Doing This?

I've seen it a lot ....with varying success :) -
It's those little moments which grab , isn't it ? ....
-
I can smell him .. wet .... He was such a sooky la-la - with his fan at nights ,so he didn't keep me awake with his puffing :p and an ice brick pillow when really hot ....and jammies, blankets & hot water bottles in Winter .... Some tough bush dog - NOT .
-
No wet dog shivering at the door , or looking for his 'jammies' or leaving yeti sized muddy prints on the floor ...( he didn't have an undercoat to speak of and got cold really quickly ...) I just saw teh rain, and thought that I should get Hammy in and put another cushion on the bed under the kitchen table for him....

Guess it depends on how intoxicated you are when you drop the bag of cookies, and how many you miss ;) Or, how angry you were when throwing your oh/friend's stash to the four winds ?

Does She Really Need An Elizabethan Collar?
persephone replied to WExtremeG's topic in General Dog Discussion
A neighbour once urgently needed one for her silky terrier .... I found a square firm piece of foam..about 3cm thick ..cut an X in the middle .. and slipped it on over his head Full field of vision ..he ate & drank normally , and didn't have to worry about knocking it hard :) he didn't mind it one bit either ..and it lasted just enough days to keep his wound dry & clean :)
