  1. I hope you mentioned this to the vet ....
  2. I have owned a sighthound ..and the way you've written this doesn't sound as if it would have suited my boy ..... Have you read these ? there is some mention of how they do with obedience and following commands, etc ... LINK borzoi LINK wolfhound
  3. Don't fiddle with it . No wiping/washing ..it will hurt, and also damage any brand new skin trying to grow ..what he has looks a bit like a burn ..and it will indeed be fragile . Hopefully the vet will be sensible and not just say "clean it with saline " ...tell him yep , you can do that -IF he gives you a local anaesthetic spray to use a few minutes beforehand ! Honestly ..I really think clipping/shaving like that is ove enthusiastic ..and I hope you & cooper are much less stressed this time tomorrow :)
  4. <br style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: verdana, tahoma, arial, sans-serif; line-height: 18px; background-color: rgb(238, 242, 247);">yep! I'd growl too ;)
  5. That looks awful.. may I suggest to NOT wipe the areas at all ..,but rather spray with solarcaine or use lanacane ointment a couple times a day? This will relieve the pain.. ( topical local anaesthetic + antiseptic ) Check with the vet, but that's my 2C worth. I used lanacane a lot on a dog I had here with healing burns ......
  6. Is he old enough to have chicken wings and lamb ribs? My breeder encourages us to start off with chicken neck I think. Couldn't pay attention to her while holding the puppy. lol I guess while he's really small LARGE chicken necks are OK ..I always worry though , as some chicken necks are almost the same diameter /shape as a puppy's food tube ..and can be swallowed whole (or worse, in segments if chopped up ..and can cause choking. Wings are an odd shape, and usually cannot be gulped whole :)
  7. :) Sounding terrific ! You finally have your boy . Don't forget ..he has teeth, so can chew bones now!! chicken wings, lamb ribs, oxtail ..... :) the more of this he chews and enjoys , the less of your stuff he will chew! Given semi frozen /frozen to discourage gulping, they will keep him occupied for ages!!
  8. I'm sure there are other catastrophic causes of blood loss seen when vomited out .. the bursting of a major blood vessel perhaps? .....
  9. Here's our geriatric Gertie(around 13) this morning, enjoying a roll ... so yes, with practice , this could be a good app :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=R_yYAJQr0ws
  10. FAST Camera :) takes shots on 'burst' or auto or manual setting .. for catching movement :) I only downloaded it last night ... here are the first shots - not a good recommendation :p but it works ! this was only 3 shots ..one was the eagle behind a branch
  11. Can that be taken as something legally illegal ??? Yoiks.
  12. She is looking absolutely wonderful :) *has to stop thinking Scooby Dooby Doo* :)
  13. It would be very unusual for a dog to haemorrhage just after the ingestion of some rodenticides ...AFAIK it takes a little while to affect the clotting of the blood - depending. If dog had eaten some in kennels at home or somewhere the maximum effect would have been 'helped along' by the stress/exercise of being shown.... IMO. No autopsy is very odd.......
  14. :) Poss is my 'outside ' dog... not a house dog ..she's a ratbag , weighs about 12 kg wringing wet and loves cuddles and working sheep ....
  15. and on our little landing, which we haven't seen for a couple of years, due to high river levels.
  16. Glad he's home :) , and I am sure once he is used to the routine, he will enjoy the convalescing bit :) If you are home with him ..I suggest he will be much more settled not in a crate ... I worry about crates/coneheads & massive surgery & limbs not being able to be as flexible as they should.... I have seen/heard dogs really hurt themselves trying to turn around /get comfortable ..either legs /knees hit the wire, or they try & twist around ..cone hits wire , & dog loses some spatial knowledge , & maybe twists a limb th e wrong way
  17. Oakley looked lovely :) I hope his sister copes OK now .. for you ....
  18. I like it when dogs "flea" me like that :)
  19. Hey, pesh ..to practice with on the cheap, why not try something like this ? LINK. I have a set that I use sometimes on my Canon :)
  20. answering without seeing him, obviously a confident and dominant dog may show similar behaviour ...... his behaviour may not be 'puppyish' ...
  21. AS Pyometra is an infection ... I would think heredity plays little part in it? We have had 3 bitches with pyo over the (many, many) years, a couple have had mammary tumours .. while they may not be common , they are a life threatening problem ....
