some folks think it's funny to blow smoke at a dog until it 'has wobbly boots'on I've seen it , and it ain't pretty . Many years ago we obtained a kitten from some people ..... and we think , ermmm, he was stoned ... and then somewhat brain damaged from being around so much smoke from birth ....

Does She Really Need An Elizabethan Collar?
persephone replied to WExtremeG's topic in General Dog Discussion
*nods*For my daneX once, I made him a 'bucket' collar .... using a pink plastic bucket ..with thick padding sewn around the neck end ..and ties which went on to his collar ..he used it on several occasions. :) For smaller dogs, I usually cut a hole in the centre bottom of a suitable sized ice cream container ..smooth off the edge ..then it just slips on & off :) There's a good field of vision too. -
Ouch. That couldn't be really comfortable .....

Does She Really Need An Elizabethan Collar?

That's perfect :) .... She'll probably not pay much attention to it at all . Just do watch out for clipper rash - it always looks sore , so guess it is :/ AS said , an elizabethan collar (or a suitable basket muzzle) is a handy thing to have , in case of wounds/hotspots etc ... Hoping all goes well , and that she enjoys her 'quiet time ' , convalescing :) -
Way too much gorgeousness on one page :) They are just beautiful ....

If you have seen a bitch spey go wrong with stitches no longer there , or an infection ..you wouldn't laugh at the vets 'just wanting to make money' . You can always make your own ..using plant pots/buckets.;) You can also buy a soft open basket muzzle . Dogs left alone for longish periods often do start licking, as there is irritation - mostly from shaving rash . Sometimes the licking continues ..and can cause infection ... Some are inclined to do so .. many don't bother . Hopefully your girl will just not worry :) -
It depends on your dog , really - I didn't answer the poll. Do you feel he's missing a friend? Does he mope around? is he showing signs of fretting, etc? if he's happy & healthy ..having lots of human attention - doing walks & training etc ...doe HE really need another friend? or are you getting one because you feel guilty ;) ? Some dogs don't like pups. Some dogs will be territorial to an adult . some dogs enjoy being an only dog when they get the chance ... There are so many variables!!

you might find out some interesting things about itches etc in THIS LINK and some basic training in THIS LINK ( for a much older pup , but the principle's the same)

make sure you tell the breeder ! It is very poor for a puppy to be sent home with visible fleas When you take pup to the vet for his "new pup' check ..ask the vet about flea treatment for baby pups- also about the itching. your pup is a TINY BABY ..and applying chemicals is risky at this age Unfortunately, itching can be from allergies/illnesses.. and often it is VERY hard to find the cause . Was pup on the same food at the breeders? are you feeding anything containing artificial colours? I note you are in VIC ? Make sure you have all your pedigrees/registration papers/transfer papers from breeder etc From some of the stories coming from Vic .. they have made some awful mistakes in identifying pups/dogs ...

Using Easy Thumbnails I did some screen shots? Any help? ALWAYS have a copy of your photos in another folder or somewhere so you keep them safe :) A lot of programs resize without changing the originals :) :) -
For healthy dogs - chicken with some fat is fine :) Some red meat certainly is a good addition maybe kidneys/or heart ? With Bon...can you get kangaroo mince? Very lean meat . perhaps add sweet potato & a little spinach , an egg every couple of days and some natural fat free yoghurt plus a small amount of brown rice? With dogs who are ill, I prefer to feed fresh - it may not make a difference, but I 'feels' as if I am giving them food more beneficial :)

what program are you using? I use a couple ... including http://download.cnet.com/PIXresizer/3000-12511_4-10607499.html Most programs make a copy of the new size..so the original stays the same :) -

Jules - you have a nice normal puppy :) -
Being wet won't hurt her if she keeps active , and the weather's not cold :)

Poor things yes, legally they need to be taken to the pound ...and yes, they will probably be PTS. I cannot imagine rehoming adult ,strictly outdoor, not very friendly cats, would be high on anyone's list of priorities.

Looking forward to seeing poodle grins :)

neither are settled roos ;)

I also have never seen a scrotum removed in normal adult DOG /Cat male desexing ....it would be most unusual . adult males do need to be totally rested ...as it is more of a shock to their sytem than a young pup. Is the swelling clear fluid? Is there much bruising? (Did your vet consider a bleed ? I have seen haemophiliac dogs with scrotums the size of a baseball..in a hurry ) It will hang ..and normally, any 'vacuum' will fill with fluid .. this takes some time to resolve .
