  1. Oh, My ... what a lovely and loving tribute .. he certainly was Charlie, right to the end , and that makes me smile thru my tears ..it really has been a privilege to share his journey. Thank you.
  2. Dory should do ok with a good variety of meats/bones ... red/white/fish, plus egg
  3. maybe use his normal food then, instead of treats ? hat way he gets his meal by doing good stuff ..and being rewarded :)
  4. is it on a special diet ? Any allergies? dried apple popcorn Low fat options..... ? those dried lung treats.... kangaroo jerky would be very low fat ... or dry your own roo meat ! flavoured sunrice rice crackers - the caramel ones go down very well here :)
  5. Well Done !! :) Onward & Upward ....
  6. It's those little moments which grab , isn't it ? ....
  7. I can smell him .. wet .... He was such a sooky la-la - with his fan at nights ,so he didn't keep me awake with his puffing :p and an ice brick pillow when really hot ....and jammies, blankets & hot water bottles in Winter .... Some tough bush dog - NOT .
  8. No wet dog shivering at the door , or looking for his 'jammies' or leaving yeti sized muddy prints on the floor ...( he didn't have an undercoat to speak of and got cold really quickly ...) I just saw teh rain, and thought that I should get Hammy in and put another cushion on the bed under the kitchen table for him....
  9. probably ..I just have a fear of millions of tiny polystyrene balls everywhere!!!
  10. Guess it depends on how intoxicated you are when you drop the bag of cookies, and how many you miss ;) Or, how angry you were when throwing your oh/friend's stash to the four winds ?
  11. A neighbour once urgently needed one for her silky terrier .... I found a square firm piece of foam..about 3cm thick ..cut an X in the middle .. and slipped it on over his head Full field of vision ..he ate & drank normally , and didn't have to worry about knocking it hard :) he didn't mind it one bit either ..and it lasted just enough days to keep his wound dry & clean :)
  12. some folks think it's funny to blow smoke at a dog until it 'has wobbly boots'on I've seen it , and it ain't pretty . Many years ago we obtained a kitten from some people ..... and we think , ermmm, he was stoned ... and then somewhat brain damaged from being around so much smoke from birth ....
  13. LOL!! strictly speaking, a 'thumbnail' is a very small image ...kinda the size of a ......... thumb nail the program 'EASY THUMBNAILS' can be seen HERE
  14. *nods*For my daneX once, I made him a 'bucket' collar .... using a pink plastic bucket ..with thick padding sewn around the neck end ..and ties which went on to his collar ..he used it on several occasions. :) For smaller dogs, I usually cut a hole in the centre bottom of a suitable sized ice cream container ..smooth off the edge ..then it just slips on & off :) There's a good field of vision too.
  15. Ouch. That couldn't be really comfortable .....
  16. That's perfect :) .... She'll probably not pay much attention to it at all . Just do watch out for clipper rash - it always looks sore , so guess it is :/ AS said , an elizabethan collar (or a suitable basket muzzle) is a handy thing to have , in case of wounds/hotspots etc ... Hoping all goes well , and that she enjoys her 'quiet time ' , convalescing :)
  17. Way too much gorgeousness on one page :) They are just beautiful ....
  18. If you have seen a bitch spey go wrong with stitches no longer there , or an infection ..you wouldn't laugh at the vets 'just wanting to make money' . You can always make your own ..using plant pots/buckets.;) You can also buy a soft open basket muzzle . Dogs left alone for longish periods often do start licking, as there is irritation - mostly from shaving rash . Sometimes the licking continues ..and can cause infection ... Some are inclined to do so .. many don't bother . Hopefully your girl will just not worry :)
  19. It depends on your dog , really - I didn't answer the poll. Do you feel he's missing a friend? Does he mope around? is he showing signs of fretting, etc? if he's happy & healthy ..having lots of human attention - doing walks & training etc ...doe HE really need another friend? or are you getting one because you feel guilty ;) ? Some dogs don't like pups. Some dogs will be territorial to an adult . some dogs enjoy being an only dog when they get the chance ... There are so many variables!!
  20. you might find out some interesting things about itches etc in THIS LINK and some basic training in THIS LINK ( for a much older pup , but the principle's the same)
