  1. One of our geriatrics developed shocking demodex during a false pregnancy It took me several weeks ..BUT she was eventually all clear :)..my guess is dropping hormone levels helped :) Malawash SCRUB every week ....only on affected areas anti histamines to help with any itching ... DIET change. An egg every day, LOTS of fresh raw meat , calcium ascorbate powder , Ironcyclen2,and a multivitamin
  2. LINK LINK LINK Folks in this area have them everywhere - the National park near us has them scattered throughout , and some properties have all their boundary gates etc under the camera's eye ! We all walk around smiling for the camera :p
  3. R I P Dallas ... take that smile with you to light up the sky :)
  4. Ohhhh... I am so so sorry another of your gorgeous pack has gone. Blacky was loved as much as possible , but yes, when she was called home, she had to go .BIG hugs to you & the boys ..Rescue remedy all round for the other dogs ..and my love & thoughts.
  5. perhaps the scabby bits are from puppy bites then???
  6. Something with a camera filming you, and your property clearly and closely is a pretty invasive procedure ..unless you happen to be on Reality TV . I would NOT be impressed.
  7. Oops . so sorry today was not a good one ..but SO glad that the daycare is working !! Apart from the chain collar left on the black lab ..it all looks very organised, clean and relaxed :)
  8. Goats & sheep are mostly ear tagged, or ear marked, where a small shaped chunk is "punched" through/out of the ear flap ... ,,sheep in addition may have a paint type brand on the wool surface. Ear tag insertion and healing is certainly felt ..but I think it is much less than human earlobe piercing - being done in cartilage ..not fat/flesh...and the fact adrenaline is running high at being confined/handled at all would almost negate it , IMO.
  9. Its so good that he now feels secure enough to relax, and let you do teh same :)
  10. we have a slap tattooer here for pigs .. numbers are configured by metal pins on a flat head ..then it is well inked , and whacked onto a piggy shoulder . My guess it hurts ! Think of a small hairbush with pointy pins instead of soft bristles ..... Better than heat branding/burning That always looks and smells just awful. Mind you, it is a very small surface area in comparison to teh size of the animal.... I have never heard of anyone branding a dog ..the skin is way too thin, and there is not the fat/muscle underneath to absorb heat fast enough ..I think it would be absolute cruelty . Freeze branding still 'burns' permanently damages/scars skin
  11. "Drone? What ? A giant Bee, you say? well, now you realise I don't hear so good ; I saw a shadow, and I thought I was being attacked by something weird, and I had the shotgun handy !! Can you stick it back together? Yes, I know the little back bits fell in the sullage pit ....but they float, don't they? Maybe play with your models on an oval somewhere in future!!!"
  12. If everything was done hygenically and dog was anaesthetised ... no outcry from me . Cropped ears, now ........
  13. yes! That way you can see photos, talk to the actual breeders , and find a line which suits your needs :) Good luck! LINK
  14. :) Look at him now! He looks all grown up and beautiful .....
  15. <br style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: verdana, tahoma, arial, sans-serif; line-height: 18px; background-color: rgb(238, 242, 247);">:) *nods* also apologies if I scared you - however , it can be one of those useful little bits of info to keep tucked away .... ;)
  16. Aawwww..That is SO good to see :) :) Gorgeous girl :)
  17. W M .. I have noticed it with 'just ' an upset tum , with bloat , after injury ..... they are trying to stretch things back to being comfortable . It may also be a back problem..... It's not something I enjoy seeing repeated . Hope the boy is just stretching a muscle or something .... I did actually think his tummy looked a bit tight in the one photo ...and thought he may have been old and had some fluid?
  18. He's pretty darn Oliverish :) Just watch that long stretch ..it CAN be a sign of abdominal discomfort ..... he is one lucky boy!
  19. :) and it is a bit easier for them, again ,as we are the same species, and can communicate ....
  20. Were you surprised they recommended a behaviourist? Behaviour IS a specialised area . vets with normal training ,cannot , IMO, be expected to understand and be able to work with anatomy/physiology of multiple species/breeds ..... AND be comfortable in assessing and helping with behavioural issues . Its like human GPs - they have enough trouble working with physicalities - most are just not equipped to deal with the psycholgical ..or other specialised areas ...and they only have ONE species with which to deal! ;)
