Puppies have NO idea what 'no' means..in fact ,if she is doing something puppyish like chewing/chasing ..and people are throwing "No's" at her ..then 'NO" means just what she is doing at that point in time !!! if she is looking to the older dog - which is how pups learn ... there is a possibility she may copy some of his behaviours. You say he is 'dominant' In which way/s? What does he do to need extra limitations? :) your kids (and you) might enjoy this booklet ..It is fantastic for helping kids understand how a dog is thinking ! :D LINK Your dogs may BOTH benefit from this training exercise too :) It works with all ages ... Briefly ..eye contact should be a praising/loving thing :) It can also be a control... and can be seen as a threat ..so needs to be taught . Does your pup enjoy eye contact generally? IMO, any eye contact deserves a treat/praise :) if a pup doesn't learn to watch .. then any training could be tricky! This baby is learning ... and has an attention span of a gnat ! Does she watch you when you feed her? If so .. have her look at you, and feed her little bits at a time ..when she looks, she gets food .... ;)

With that much exercise .... she may just be 'wired' and want MORE I too suggest getting a recommended behaviourist/trainer to be with you on this one - and no, I do not consider it overkill , what with neighbours, councils etc. That seems an awful lot of running for a puppy - and I also agree with MUCH more mental gymnastics - honestly that will relax her . Think of kids at school ..or yourself at work . What tires you/them more ? Exams/learning new and complicated things? Or a staff picnic/fun run/brisk walk ? I bet it's the extra brainwork . Dogs are the same .When they have to concentrate...put their body into certain positions/learn things/carry out commands ...it's WORK .. :) I also would REMOVE all food when you get home - I feel she sees you coming home as some signal that she is OK to eat .... a reward for her day alone .. it has become a habit , and MAY be a reason she barks -- she is anxiously waiting for you to come home so she can eat ;) maybe.... I would suggest she learns that being alone is her cue to eat - and what better way, than being HUNGRY! So NO food or treats when you are home of an evening etc , until she gets hungry enough to eat what is left for her .It should only take a day or two ..especially if you poke a bit of peanut butter , or liver treat, or roast chicken in her Kong/Bowl before you leave :D being alone is GREAT , as the treats are there to be found & eaten :)

easier for them, quite possibly ..but it is the same shock in a little canine body , regardless of who does it . yes, they may have more equipment, stitch neater, and be able to get blood/fluids in faster etc if needed ..but there is still the same amount of blood diverted, the same cuts, and the same organs removed , which cause the halting of hormones etc . That's all ...a spey is a spey . Glad you're holding off if she's in season , and hope it all goes well :)

Desexing a small dog is 'micro surgery' ?? Not really :) I'm sure peoples' chi's/poms/ maltese/yorkies get speyed/castrated at regular vets ..... as do early desexings, when puppies are 6-8 weeks old :) We used to have all sized dogs/cats/rabbits in for desexing ..and used to remove tumours from mice etc as well....

Agree with the fact that castration is not a 'cure-all'. training ,and more training .. also ....dogs are not programmed to dominate the world .......... he is just a PUPPY , doing what is absolutely normal , unless he has been taught otherwise . Yes, puppies practise humping , and may also pee ..but only because they are allowed to , unfortunately.... Perhaps find a local trainer/behaviourist who can help you with what you need to know ?

yes- hopefully it all falls into place , and she can be done with surgeries for a long time!

having seen how internal organs/tissues of bitches in season change , I can understand why it is preferable to not go in & start cutting .... yes, for sure it CAN be done, and done perfectly , I've seen it done - however it does seem more of a trauma to the body than normally , because of blood flow ..and the sudden change in hormonal levels ....

It is better to have a good idea what food your dog does well on , and then buy that :)

Sounds odd ..however, one of ours went off her food for a couple of days a week or so ago (we are about 700km from you though :p ) MOST unusual for our dogs . She was happy and playing , etc She did devour fresh figs and pears , refusing liver treats, rabbit and peanut butter. !! Weird ... it seemed the sight/smell of the food made her nauseous .. I gave her ginger/peppermint oil & honey a few times a day ..she LOVED this also ...

..and as for Pyo .. in almost 50 years of having multiple dogs ..we have only ever had 2 cases ..both older females .

Can you post any photos, or give us links of her standing normally ?

I would think that no season = not mature yet ....?
