  1. I primarily use point & shoot cameras - as using my DSLR (an old canon) gets me very 'rattled' my new-to-me iPhone is just wonderful to play with ..and has heaps of interesting photo editing apps :)
  2. There are some terrifically talented photographers on DOL ..and I admire their technical knowledge and expertise , as I just shoot from the heart, with scant regard to any number/setting or angle : / I can not comprehend all the tech stuff ..and just enjoy what turns out looking how I originally perceived it :) Pesh, find what you really feel comfortable with ... whether it be garden, or dogs, or kids, or cobblestones ,or shoes :) Click, and click, and click .... have a look at them ..if they make you smile , then you have done very well then click and click some more... :) What image storing/editing program do you have ?
  3. Pesh... depends on what you want to do ? Do you want to do a tafe course? Do you want to read tips & hints ? Books or online? Whichever way to learn the theory .. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE :) :) Maybe join a nearby Club? PRACTICE :) Here's something to get you started :) LINK
  4. and any heartworm medication/preventative shouldn't be given without an initial blood test ...
  5. we do need a compilation of stan stories :)
  6. rod bells .... can be found at most fishing tackle places/big W etc brass bells .. I used these , when I didn't have any goat bells :)
  7. yes..no 'slop' here. It's messy , and lapping is not easy for puppies ... I give either a large meaty bone with meat well scored , on which they initially suck..then learn to chew ..OR tiny balls of mince ... no added anything .. ..and gradually increase as needed, adding supplements /edible bone and kibble... fresh water is always available in a heavy container .. often one of those cake tins with a hole in the centre :) This stops crowding, paddling , and drowning :)
  8. Our little kitchen bin lives up high .... we have no other bins inside , and only wheelie bins outside. Defrosting in fridge or microwave ..any biscuits cake etc live in containers in cupboards.
  9. frozen HW bottles and also just the freeze things for eskies .. wrap them , or slip them into an old 'explorer 'type sock ... place a few around the bed ..Mums often like resting their heads on one ..and once you show the pups, they will drape themselves over the cold bottles when needed :)
  10. the smaller cow bell type bells on the goats. They have a much lower resonance, not like the higher tinkling sound of little ball bells [sleigh bells?] Yes! I use brass bells on my goats ,usually ..they are quite heavy ..I can't imagine anything making the same sound light enough for cats/small dogs (if anyone needs to bell a dog when free running/or if there are vison impaired folks in teh house , etc ... THESE are excellent - very audible, but not 'loud', and it soon becomes easy to work out where and what dog is doing ;) )..little 'rod bells' for use on fishing rods.
  11. :) Infections of the urinary tract etc , if you've ever had anything .. you'll know they can be awfully irritating ...so hopefully in the next day or so you'll know what's happening and he'll be happier :)
  12. :) ..OK ..with the urine consistency (It may not have been urine at all) and this behaviour ..I would suggest a vet visit ASAP.. My first thought, even before your latest post was perhaps an infection in the penis or sheath ... this can cause discharge , thick & yellow sometimes..and it can also cause irritation, which then may set off humping etc .... purely reflex actions. So ..a good physical , mentioning all these symptoms , then, if he gets the all clear ..a behaviourist visit may be useful :) (disclaimer ..not a vet , or behaviourist , but have seen most things dog-related )
  13. Hi :) Is Max entire? What else do you do with him to exercise his brain & body each day? Do you remember the first thing he got from th e bin? This was probably a really yummy thing ..and taught him that raiding bins was a great way to get rewarded. :) This is a worry, I know, and it is our responsibility to ensure they can not get to harmful things . Cupboards, sheds, high shelves, and locked doors become our friends ! What bones does Max get to chew ? Does he have a treat ball, or do they get ice blocks with treats in ?:)
  14. :) We have quite a few dogs..and they bark a lot (we live in the country , and they are allowed to bark ,within reason they bark at birds, at strange cars, at each other ....) We still have a number of snakes way too close to the dogs and the house
  15. They do get used to things too :) They live in our garage shed.. We used to get them regularly in the pump shed (not electric pump..a big noisy diesel) ...
  16. Snakes do not have 'ears'..however there is a belief that some sounwaves are picked up by a part of the jawbone , and I think lungs ?
  17. ..most importantly ..what if the two dogs do not get along? It's Finn's house now .
  18. It would be interesting to know which soundwaves are picked up by the snake's 'hearing'. if bells work ..then so should barking dogs? I am happy to have brass bells tinkling :)
  19. in which case could there be scar tissue blocking it .. or surrounding tissue squashing/blocking it .... ? Hope the specialist can help
