  1. Not necessarily , it will take a while for the hormones to exit his system , and he has been doing this marking for 10 yrs ...... ..toilet training will, aid the process tho :)
  2. perhaps they are somewhat exaggerating .... ( I hope!) I would imagine if a good sized 6 m.o latched on ..there would be holes which needed looking at Our 6 m. o koolies can cause much damage with their new shiny adult teeth! Either way, I hope that they get some good professional help soon .
  3. A vet would be my first suggestion. It could be a flea allergy ..it only takes one bite! It could also be an allergy to ...almost anything ...it may also be a stress reaction .... I would be suggesting not adding any more chemicals top the mix he's had recently ,until you work out what the problem is ... What food does he get? What plants are in your garden? Is there a time/place when he seems more irritated?
  4. biting to the extent of having to have jaws prised open does it for me. Did the owner need medical attention ?
  5. I would be sending that dog on a one way trip if he couldn't actually pry it off his arm at that age. Sounds like there is something not right with this one. That is a definite worry. If that is the case, I think I agree with nekh.

  7. Great shots !! My fave is the last one , with blue sky and all the colours in teh sand :) You certainly did get close!!
  8. *nods* Mitchell did that the first time he was in a boarding kennel .. his nice custom made doggie beanbag bed .....The kennel owners thought it was a white Christmas!!
  9. I was thinking of a big doona shape which would fit inside teh crate ... so he can't really get out of it? An open side near the door , but floor/walls/top enclosed?
  10. Hamlet just has his polar fleece coat on, and he sleeps on a shadecloth bed with a blanket & pillow ..it is very cold in my room, too- I have a window open!..it was -2 here this morning... ..If he doesn't move around much. or chew..maybe make him a 'sleeping bag' using a BIG doona ?, to be used in the crate?
  11. AS well as the spca eblanket, I would get a BIG doona from opshop or somewhere, and insulate the crate over the space blanket :) That works really well! Obviously the MOST important bit of a crate to seal/cover is the bit near the floor ..as this is where the drafts will be sneaking in.(cold air sits at floor level.) I buy lots of mattress protectors, old electric blankets and doonas from the opshop ..and they hold the warmth well :) The other thing, which probably would be messy in the nth degree is shreddedpaper, in which teh dog makes a nest ..so on all sides they are protected/insulated :) We do similar here with raw wool ... the dogs have such a cosy nest :)
  12. weird they don't have any info on-line.......
  13. What a lovely photo! It will hurt like crazy .... I am glad you got to see her in hospital, and that she knew you were there - that would have made her feel much happier... take care.
  14. <br style="color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-family: verdana, tahoma, arial, sans-serif; line-height: 18px; background-color: rgb(238, 242, 247); ">YES!! do they already have your address ? I woke up this morning worrying about that fact , and was going to suggest a shopping centre car park or somewhere ... Hope it all goes well.
  15. Hi - I've re read your post a few times now ...and IMO the problem seems to be .......just humans... With Freia .. AFAIK urinary tract infections aren't a common symptom of a liver shunt , so there was no real reason for a vet to be looking for that ...and as explained it isn't something easily /commonly tested for. With jack ...perhaps the vet was just going on your supposition of toothache ? Owners are often the ones who know their pet better than anyone, and can spot a problem , esp a recurring one . perhaps the vet did concentrate his examination a bit much on the area you thought was causing pain...but looking at it from a different angle ..at least the vet DID spend time checking out your hypothesis ! Some vets will just give a very cursory check A new vet will obviously make you happy ... just ensure they get all the histories , and I hope your next vet visits are happy ones! :)
  16. When they come , tell them he's over at the doggy spa ..having a massage for his arthritis :p :p
  17. Sago might help him ..it is a starchy product made from the pith of a palm tree. ..so no grain. When cooked up, it is a bit like lumpy glue :p
  18. Just look at those faces! Well done :)
  19. Lovely photos .... Lions are def. my favourite .. were the giraffe trying to graze on almost nothing , or at a salt lick?...... Great photo, if a bit sad .... I am very envious of lion cub cuddles!!
