  1. That should be in all teh greyhound adoption promotional material Absolutely wonderful !
  2. GABBA- I suggested you contact your dog's BREEDER .they are the ones who know him,and his bloodline. They know what age maturity kicks in , when is an age to start breeding, and can also suggest the health checks necessary to find out IF your dog's genes are suitable to be spread around . I just can not understand why all this has not been discussed with teh breeder by now Once again, perhaps the breeder will explain it to you? I wouldn't have a problem as such, but would wonder how much research you did NOT do on your chosen breed
  3. Oh..D'oh . sorry . Nowhere else you can walk the dogs? I'd be more concerned with grass seeds in bodily orifices than wet legs
  4. like chaps? some on ebay... or rainwear on a site like THIS ?
  5. I wouldn't buy a couch, or carpet or anything... the texture is what he wants ..and the fun. flattened cardboard cartons and thick layered newspaper is one of the warmest (no, not snuggly) insulating bedding materials
  6. you don't 'pull him away'..because you shouldn't have stopped in the first place you just keep walking at a constant pace, chattering away brightly ,and if he wants to stop and be caught up and made uncomfortable for a second or three, that's HIS problem.
  7. The fact I find disturbing is that this bird has become so used to feeding on land .. and eating all sorts of rubbish , that it now sees most things as food, instead of feeding mostly in/from the water as it should be. Eating a live pigeon, with flapping wings is not really much different to eating a wildly flopping ,spiky finned fish, after all...
  8. You would have a nervous breakdown here, then every time snake or cat or dog or something grabs a frog there are a few seconds of screaming... The other night I must hve missed a frog in my nightly 'muster' of ones who sneak indoors ..and around 1 am I awoke to the very loud squark of a frog alongside my bed ! Mr. Wilson had one , and was patting it around . I let it go outside ... and told it to stay there! There are hundreds of frogs around here at present... they are in/on everything!
  9. yep- keep walking. behaviours on walks are not dictated by the dog- they are dictated by you. he stops & sniffs /pees when YOU say he can. No argument walk him for 20 mtrs or so ..talking, maybe showing a toy .. and after he has walked nicely without sniffing, then stop and use a word like "free' .or "sniff"... and let him have a minute to sniff etc. then.. "heel"/"walk" ,whatever, and off you go again That way he gets to have a sniff.. but needs to concentrate on walking nicely as well Dogs wandering along lazily sniffing everywhere is one of my 'don't likes' , sorry .
  10. ..Hmm.. if you need to ask these questions, I would suggest that it is NOT 'safe' for your dog/s to breed, as you are not aware of the basics of your breed yet , and therefore would probably also not know of any genetic faults in the bloodlines, ..and risk passing on something undesirable . I think you should contact your dog's breeder and ask .Did you buy with breeding in mind?
  11. Not easy..and definitely not the safest. I would suggest you build a secure run , and get her used to it now , as her 'home ' -with a cosy kennel, toys, digging pit ... then you can go away and know she is safe- both from escaping, and from other dogs getting into your yard and fighting.
  12. I don't think a vet needs to be more 'clever' It's about the dog being relaxed and the area to be in the correct position for the length of time required .Sometimes this is uncomfortable/painful for the dog .. so sedation, and maybe anaesthesia is need for a relaxed body .
  13. LOL someone should photograph YOU photographing spidees
  14. we had a misty shower this morning , and I managed to sneak up on this FM.. LOVE the wasp face 'Wotchyou talking'bout, Willis" ?
  15. Practice, practice, practice, practice EVERY day ..on leash ,and at home .many times. I wpuld also be using a light plastic BASKET muzzle .. like the one HERE You are wise- worrying about him eating something dangerous ... and if he is so keen, I would be muzzling him .. or always walking on a long lead ...
  16. Nice pics .. pups are gorgeous little grubbies ! poor mum looks a bit long for the bed in the last pic :D
  17. Bicarb in a generous amount, followed by a good slosh of vinegar is a wonderful spa for kitchen sink drains
  18. I read that in 'THE' book, as well- haven't tried it tho .
  19. Those photos are a bit squished try & keep them something like 800X600 or 600X400 then the proportions are correct .
  20. On hard floors, use the 'squeegee' side excellent for sand!!
  21. I hope it goes well . as long as his crate is secure, and he has a leash/tether which he can't chew thru he should stay safe just don't forget he might enjoy it, but other folks/dogs may not be as friendly ! Not something I would do
  22. depends what you want to do - and how much you can afford . I use lightroom a lot .. it is where changes are made to fix exposure issues/sharpening/colour etc... in my photos. lightroom I do have photoshop (came on a laptop from a friend ;) ) but rarely use it - it confuses me It is handy for the times I want to try fancy stuff ..like creating different scenes ,etc. I tend to use a free program to quickly do bits & pieces .. THIS ONE
