  1. It is called 'doing ZOOMIES'.. technical term and is perfectly normal . Just make sure pup cannot injure himself on anything too nasty .. and let him rip! Dogs NEED to get a lot of exercise- especially as they grow. Young, growing dogs also need to learn how to control speed and direction ..and to experience controlled crashes/tackles,skids. It is the way they learn how their body works, and what they can do with it ! Basically, it is 'play', and very important. Also- he is cute now, but in 10 mths time- do you want him climbing on your lap to chew a bone? ..... if not, then now is a good time to teach him commands- and make sure he knows his crate or bed is the BEST spot for chewing bones, etc
  2. Aahh I have just had a look at what is causing problems for you (I think) SHARE this means - send it to someone via email.... or send to another flickr user.
  3. if they don't like any kibble- why not feed a raw based diet then?
  4. Hamlet was a bit cold... and as his lovely new coat is just for bed time......
  5. Oh- and buy new bedding- op shop towels/baby blankets etc are great ! just wash em first .. rinse well, and they also can be thrown out when they are grotty
  6. Have you thought she may not be 'just' doing it- but may have an/other irritation/ infection post surgery? Put her on newspaper ..lots of layers .. it is warm enough- and if piddled on, can be thrown out or composted :D When she is dry- then she gets bedding back Idon't bother with bedding unless dogs are dry and don't chew.
  7. With poo picked up/bagged,there should not be much smell ,unless their poo is sloppy and clinging to the grass/ground. Pup poo shoul be just like miniature adult dog poo... nice firm shaped little logs Sprinkling baking powder around will kill off the grass .., AFAIK. it will drastically change the pH of the soil .... Perhaps you just need to get accustomed to what the next 14 yrs is going to smell like ? :D
  8. Lumps&bumps can have many causes I hope it's of the 'easy fixed' category ..
  9. Just from those pics you posted , they certainly don't look in ill health ! I don't think they will fail a vet check ....
  10. Gravy powder has quite a bit of salt in why not boil up a chook frame or three - with some carrot ... no salt .. reduce it to make a nice fresh chicken stock Use that to soak her food in , maybe? if she doesn't like chicken.. boil up a lamb shank ... do NOT give her the cooked bones ;)
  11. The niece's OH - I hope he is in the doghouse!! That is a very weird thing to do :D
  12. Grace- dogs bark for a reason :D if you give us some history/info we may be able to help you find the reason/s and perhaps ways to manage it .
  13. Pipsal- yes, they do need quarantine -ie: keeping them away from your dog/s etc until they have been vaccinated. But, as said.. they would have shown signs of illness before now if they had any nasties. Are they travelling by your car or with a company? Unvacc'd pups travelling would be a bit of a worry for me.. they are vulnerable to whatever may be lurking in crates, etc .... Tho I would hope crates are disinfected etc. The vet certainly got his/her knickers in a knot!!!
  14. Don't worry about food ;) they can go well on very little for a few days .So long as they are hydrated ..and if he is at the vets he may well be on a drip .. he'll be fine for today.
  15. When my dog had a blockage ( leaves and small sticks) it did not show on xray. he was then given little barium balls ( like ball bearings) .. and then xrayed several times as they moved thru. Of course they stopped at the obstruction...so the vets knew 'where to dig'. he recovered 100%. Hoping your dog has something which is easy fixed!
  16. Why does he? Cos he's a pup- and the food smells good, and it is there where he can get it! Simple answer- do not leave food out for your cats- feed them once or twice a a day .. away from the pup, or place bowls high up ..or in a room fenced off iwth a baby gate or something.
  17. Just remember- if there is a foreign body ,like cloth/cork/corncob - it may not show up on ordinary xrays!! Hope all is ok soon.
  18. Our working dogs didn;t do at all well on coprice didn't like it, didn't hold weight, more poo... Bonnie working dog used to be fantastic- then it was bought out by that big company they changed it.. and while it's ok- it's nowhere near what it was . we will still use t sometimes tho.. prefer Uncle Albers/Great Barko now ....
