  1. He looks lovely (and happy!). Hope he brings you guys the balance you want and lot's of licks!
  2. I don't have a lab, but know people who do, and I'm sure their dog would rather go for romp in the wet than miss out! Good on you Mine, on the other hand, look out into the rain, turn around and go back to their beds in the loungeroom! Great danes and greyhounds don't seem to like wet weather! :D
  3. Thanks for sharing. I love old photos, and with dogs, they're even better!
  4. I love all animals, they all have something endearing about them, but it's hard to keep an elephant in my house!
  5. So sorry to read this. I don't often some into the Raoinbow Bridge because it's so heartbreaking, so only saw it today. When I first started looking for info of great danes, i stumbled on your rescue pages, and for years have read about Cordelia, and am so saddened you've lost her. R.I.P. gorgeous Cordelia Hugs to you and the boys, and Gen
  6. Thanks for that Brindle, Everthing Shiny and Ams. Will check out prices now!!! I didn't watnt to use it until I was confident it wouldn't harm him.
  7. RIP Cindy. How horrible to have that happen.
  8. Hugs to you all. Run free Emma, have a great time at the Rainbow Bridge.
  9. We wash the bedding in hot water, then spray with a flea spray, had the yard and under house sprayed, have timber floors, so washed all the rugs in hot water and flea sprayed them, and mop the floors regularly with lavender oil and hot water. Whitney never seems to have them, so I'm thnking Harry picks them up on our walks, and they just love him. She never has any on her, and we walk them together.
  10. Yep, we're treating the whole place, but he still gets them occassionally. Hubby found some on him the other day, and often he just scratches and but we can't find any. Our dane doesn't get them at all, so I'm buggered if I can figure where he's picking them up from. I Use Frontline, but he's still getting them from somewhere.
  11. I posted in the greyhound thread, but thought I would try here as well. Does anyone konw if it's okay to use Comfortis on a greyhound? Harry has fleas again, and Frontline is not working. I spoke to the vet, and she is checking out whether it's okay for greys, but I thought someone here might know as well. Ta! Jaana
  12. Hi - Whitney here, signing with all four BIG paws. I don't see the humans squatting on wet grass, so why should I. I've become very good at holding on for aaaages (great dane bladders are huge!) Hi, it's Harry here, my turn to add my pawprints too, even though they're not as big as Whitney's. Us poor greyhounds don't have thick coats, so it's inhumane to send us out to pee! I can hold on for ages as well
  13. The only hassle is that he doesn't get home until about 7.30pm as he has to work in Sydney that day. I get home about 5ish, so that's not so bad, so we may need to come early on the Saturday if he has to work.
  14. Yay, looks like we may be able to go!!! Hubby's weekend off, so he has to just work out whether he should take Friday off as well (if he can!). Looking forward to it.
  15. I've emailed for info and membership form! Looooove camping with the dogs, but having a greyhound means that he needs to be tied up so he won't bolt. He adapts well, though, and we've only done one camping trip with Whitney (great dane) since we've had her, and it was all good. Can't wait to go again.
  16. Good luck, I hope it all goes well from on.
  17. Our great dane is a scoffer. The vet suggested putting her food in a muffin baking tin, and this has worked for her. She can only eat out of one little spot at once, so has to work more for it, and then sniff the next one out. She still eats faster than the greyhound, but he's a "savourer" anyway!
  18. She looks lovely. A lot like our first dog in Australia (got him about 1976), and german shepherd with very similar colouring.
  19. There area some brilliantly wonderful peoples on here!
  20. So sorry to read this, Teebs. Thank you for helping the little guy. Run free Tip.
  21. We travelled 8 hours each way to meet the breeder of Flash, and then the same to pick her up! Whitney - I travelled 3hrs to pick her up sight unseen (apart from a photo on Dane Rescue) with my Mum, and 3 hours back again with her in the back of the 4WD, wondering what the hell was happening to her world! It didn't phase me, but living in western QLD for a few years, distance doens't mean much anymore!
  22. We have a black greyhound (and used to have black great dane and blask foster grey) and people often asked if they're aggressive. We now have a blue dane, and people love her! Our greyhound usually has his muzzle on, so maybe that contributes to it as well. He is the lovliest sook, and just wants cuddles, and once people realise that, they think he's wonderful. It's that first impression that gets them!
