  1. He's Benny and the Pets, isn't he? That's the new sign over the clinic. I haven't been in since we stopped fostering.
  2. Yay mine's here! Lucky I'm home sick, I forgot a signature was required. Dogs are now posing at each other with a new toy each. Silly creatures should remember they'll have swapped around three times by the end of the day, but they have to do this 'MINE, ALL MINE' dance first!
  3. Is beautiful Ben still at Kogarah? I thought he took over the Belmore vet clinic on Kingsgrove Rd. Sorry, no suggestions except Julie at Mortdale.
  4. Ticks aren't everywhere but snakes seem to be! Learn to walk heavy! We use Advocate monthly with comfortis in the fortnight during high season for fleas (now). There's a good tick spray we travel with (cant remember the name), but nothing is as good as a fingertip search and knowing the early symptoms of tick paralysis. Wherever you land in Sydney there will be several vets around so let us know when you get here and a local can give some advice.
  5. I didn't get any choice with my cancelled items but they would have put me well back under the free postage limit. They were the two biggest/heaviest items so I'm sus about the cancellation. I'd like to have tried that chill mat myself tonight!
  6. Of the suggestions so far I like 1. Roxane 2. Hilda 3. Lumpy Space Princess (I don't understand it, but she's some type of princess) Giving up DeeDee must have been horrible, and also Bobby after all he's been through. I am grateful my demons haven't gone there. Hopefully Princess Hilda Roxy will give you happy times. Please, when you need help, we are here.
  7. Oh, so young, so fast! That's terrible. His poor family, and so many many friends! You couldn't go anywhere in Sydney without hearing about Masie being lost and it was so wonderful when she was finally found. RIP Michael
  8. Anyone want a BBQ? It's only a Bunnings cheapy but there's nothing wrong with it. We just don't use it because OH believes only in burning wood. Four burner, has wheels. Unfortunately nothing enchanted about it. Will be left out for council clean-up otherwise, which would be a pity.
  9. Is it just the sweet soft part of the nut, that we eat? I knew dogs who lived with macadamia trees who loved chewing on the hard shell, and even the green casing. They were very big farm dogs though, not a little scruffer. Best wishes to Maggie
  10. If it means we skip ahead in the queue for a Boxer from Jed one day in the future, then I'm happy to admit we got Jodie as a companion for Stevie because it was the best thing for both of them as we work full time. Everyone here raising good pups who are left alone all day are doing their best and are aware of how to enrich their puppy's life. I think Jed must be talking to the average puppy buyer (it is Christmas) who wouldn't know about puppy socialisation and development. Having Stevie home alone from six weeks old until nine months has taught me not to do that again.
  11. My order has been shipped without the large chill mat and an XL boomer ball. I was looking forward to trying that mat. Oh well, at least everything else is on its way.
  12. Dog1 is a BYB cross breed. Best dog ever. Dog2 is foster failure kelpie who had some issues when she arrived (main one being I needed lessons in understanding kelpie). Dog3 is a reg PB from best breeder ever. We've had a number of other breed rescues between D2 and D3 and a couple of malt-shih types along the way. Not sure where next dog (may it be a long time away, because we'd have to lose one first) will come from. LabraDOG rescue maybe? GRR? Or Tapua again? Or a smaller dog from somewhere else entirely (I'd love to have an Aussie Terrier again one day). Really happy with any good dog that has character and loves us back :) ETA I'm not a puppy person so ok with skipping that part if I get the right adult/teenager
  13. Jodie sometimes jumps up and down onto the sear next to me. Being active and thinking seems to keep her brain calmer and distracts her from cats, bunnies, birds or snarly dogs she might have to notice otherwise, if she doesn't have a job to do. If there's a long wait we'll go outside again. The other dogs are too big to be on seats. Stevie only thinks about liver treats and when she might beg for food. I'll put our cat cage up on a seat rather than the ground, if there's space.
  14. Oh I've looked her up - I remember her and the pup on DOL! Had me convinced for a while. Ripped off a few people maybe?
  15. Poor Boof. What a good m-j you had, lucky boy.
  16. I go past the spot often and think of the stories, though I think he was just before my time on DOL. When people say to let the d"@&$head crims shoot it out and kill each other, I remember it's not always that simple. RIP Mr Knight/Santa/Kojak/Bob
  17. This page and the linked page should be required reading for everyone with a bank account: http://www.fairtrading.nsw.gov.au/Consumers/Scams.html
  18. Bad time of year Gender? Ages? Dog friendliness? Cat tolerance? Can offer space if all the boxes are ticked, but that would make six which is too many for us/ours after more than a couple of weeks. Might be ok over the Christmas break to allow time to find something else.
  19. So proud my dogs came back from a stray cat in our yard recently but I couldn't blame them if they killed it. Jodie might do it deliberately but the labbies might squish by accident. After TD's experience though, the evidence would disappear. (Jodie shares her bed with her own cat but is unlikely to allow an intruder)
  20. Has parvo treatment evolved so much? I thought mostly it was kinder to pts than treat, if symptoms are showing, for puppies. Sorry, OT, but $1000 is a lot of money!
  21. My list is ready too - includes a cool mat, and a few squeaky tennis balls to get to $200 - but last year I remember a lot of good toys weren't available when we finally got to submit. Or limited colours, or sizes... Minimax you've seen Stevie's bears I think - every soft toy she has turns into a skin only! Once she gets the eyes out she starts on the stuffing. Sammy's a doofus so he actually eats the stuffing so I de-eye and gut every toy now. Washing day here looks like a psycho house. We have skins for bears, kangaroo, shark/dolphin, pig, frog, monkey, platypus, rabbit, even dog Lucky they're really just toys!
  22. Can't remember my password, and can't remember how to claim the free shipping
