Particularly interested in breeds that may have been split for differences of look or function, but have had little or no other breeds infused to get the "final product", so to speak. then all of my list apply. There is still interbreeding between some of the breeds that I have listed.

Depends on how close you're talking. Cocker Spaniel/English Springer Spaniel Weimeraner/Wei long hair (and my bad spelling) Collie Rough/Collie Smooth Four breeds of Belgian Shepherd the list goes on... there are lots of them. As I said, it really depends on how close you are talking.

Umm... not a thing like the new software! This will cut out so so so so so much time with correcting edges and jpg artefacts and all that stuff. And don't you know that the patch tool is where it's all at? Clone tool is so 2003.

That happened with our 40D then one day it stopped working completely. Apparently it was out 18-55 mm kit lens that killed it. It cost about $80 for the repair.

Like that second shot Annie. Nice.

he's sired that many pups but how many are in pet homes vs show/breeding homes?

I have to apologise for being very absent lately. It's been a bit hectic here. The new April challenge had been posted. Have fun everyone

I know many people in these groups already know what the rule of thirds is, but this month, the whole month is devoted to it. For those who don't know what the rule of thirds is, it is ONE of the very basic rules of composition that photographers use. The theory is that every image is broken into nine segments, three rows of three (imagine you are playing noughts and crosses and running lines through your images.) If composing landscapes, typically you will make a choice as to whether you want more land or more sky, it is rare to have horizin lines running right through the very middle of the shot. Portraits, you might have the subject/s off center or maybe if shooting a dog, you will use their eyes as the guide of where to crop using the rule of thirds as a guide. eg 1 The subject is off to the right third of the image, not in the middle eg2 The horizon line is on the bottom third, not through the middle - you will also notice the placement of the subjects also follows the thirds of the image (loosely) So this month is all about thirds. Have fun and good luck!

make sure you suggest a vet who knows what they're talking about with Alizin. I had a couple of numpties tell me not to have it done.

The thread is talking about handling in normal breed classes in Qld. In Qld you can't start handling until you are 10 and yes, they are strict about it. CCC claim it's to do with insurance (so why can't they change and use the same insurance provider as other states? )

Yes, it's fantastic and great and I want also... then a friend pointed out to me a few days ago that it now makes it a whole lot easier for people to remove our watermarks

Poll: Have You Ever Used The Report Button
Ashanali replied to sandgrubber's topic in General Dog Discussion
In real life I'd respond in a way that would have me warned/banned on DOL. Different game, different rules, different behaviour. In real life I tend to respond the same way as I would on DOL, I speak my mind, but try to keep it reasonably polite. However if I know I'm right I'm one of those people who won't back down no matter what so I definitely would be banned if I really got stuck in on DOL So yes you're right it is different. these two posts remind me of DOL version one. The good old days. -

About 4 times. At the end of the day, computer goes off and I don't give a crap what happens on forums. (my stress levels have infinitely reduced now that I stick to only a few small areas of DOL.) -
I used to have my dogs on odd feeding times. They would have one meal at a random time anywhere between 7am and 11pm. Occassionaly they would have a 'fast' day. This was because I was a shift worker and needed to know my dogs weren't going to bark the house down if I missed a meal. Unfortunately Sunni is now getting old and grumpy. Even if she has a full meal in the morning, she starts complaining for dinner around 6.30pm. She's a PITA. She will never let me 'forget' a meal nowadays. There have been a couple of nights where I've forgotten to buy dog food and I've had to raid the freezer for human grade meat just to satisfy her hunger. I'm sure she's loved those nights.

It's not the equipment. It's how you use it and what you do with it when you reach the equipment's limitations. The stuff that I just won the award for, it was shot on a 40D with an 18-55mm kit lens. Nothing fancy. I still shoot on a 40D most of the time because I refuse to buy another 5D mark II with it's focussing and colour issues... so I have to wait for a 5D mark III or wait until Nikon pay me to switch over ( yeah, as it that will happen.) No point stepping down to a 7D with a cropped frame either. You would shudder if you knew the gear I used to shoot weddings on...

But if it's made on a camera obscura it takes a whole lot of skill to do it AND have a beautiful image. Everything has to be perfect for it to work. Camera obscuras can be fun. I've always wanted to set one up (just to sit in it, not to print an image). Google what they are. (btw - I'm about to watch the doco, we recorded it. It's an awesome series. )

I think you're missing the point. In an ideal world, it would be as kja says and that is how many in the industry would like it to be. However the term 'professional' unfortunately doesn't encompass what we would like, just what 'is'. It's like this idiot photographer here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=js7RzcdDcMs There is no way in the world that the photographer should be shooting. Her work is hideous and she doesn't have any idea what her gear does or how to use it. The bride wins the case and it is lovely to see a poor quality photographer have strips torn off them HOWEVER I have to consider the bride is an idiot. She looked at crap, she booked crap, she ended up with crap. Is the photographer high quality? no Is she deriving the majority of her income from photography enabling her to call herself 'professional'? yes (although she is now out of business for obvious reasons). How many times do you see people becoming fans of the work of photographers on facebook then look at the work they have there and see how bad it is? Yet there are people out there who will still say, "wow, that's an awesome shot. It should be in a magazine" One man's junk another man's treasure. kja and Shell, yep, in an ideal world your definition of 'professional' would be the epitome. However it just isn't so... good work or bad, the woman can technically term herself professional if that's her income.

I totally 100% agree about what is SHOULD mean, but I am talking about what it really means.

Professional simply means that they make the majority of their income from what they are doing, so even if the person's work is crap, if that's where the majority of their income comes from, they are technically, "professional".
