Why Would A Full Grown Dog Attack A Puppy?
Sayreovi replied to Staffyluv's topic in General Dog Discussion
Because they shouldn't. It is totally unacceptable behaviour and a sign of a very bad temperament. Lots of adults will put a puppy in it's place by holding it down by the throat with a lot of noise if the puppy is being obnoxious but any adult that launches an unprovoked attack on a puppy that does damage is totally in the wrong. I have seen it happen at shows and just hope these dogs are never bred from. Agree 100% Maybe it's a little naive, but I think a dog should never attack a puppy. -
Wouldn't have much luck trying to get them from the Netherlands. The Dutch are apparantly very protective over the breed, hence why it's so rare everywhere. I find them interesting, they are the only other breed with the same function as Tollers and are thought to play some part in Toller development. They are pretty little by the sounds......would be good little sporting dogs :D

Toy - Papillon Small - Schipperke Medium - Toller Large - White Swiss Shepherd Giant - Bernese or Irish :p

I agree with Bisart and Rebanne. I don't agree that exhibitors should be paying to have the class included when it's been known that it pays for itself with the other entries that come with neuter dogs! I like showing, but not enough to have to pay them just so they will hold the class!
-
Is it just me or does it feel insanely stupid that not only do we have to beg clubs to hold the class even though they are being well supported when offered but then we also have to pay for the ribbons and certificates we win? I don't mind donating for an odd show here or there but telling a club it's OK we will foot the bill, even though most of us would be entering more than one dog anyway so pay for our ribbons that way. Hope you get some donations BB, sorry I can't afford too at the moment

Australian Obedience Team At Crufts 2012?
Sayreovi replied to Lablover's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Thanks Ness. Tollersowned Yank my US import is quite tall also, a close relative. Yank's Australian Customs boys have some leg also. His other GET nice and leggy also. I love long legs on labradors. I think I've met Yank, he didn't seem as tall as that boy, are the working Labs usually really tall? Leggy I know but so big? I've just never really seen many working line Labs, I've just spent yesterday watching some show Labs waddle around the ring while waiting my turn so it's shocking the two are the same breed! -

That is one massive Lab. It's so tall! -
I think we had 7 or 8 in our lineup, and someone else mentioned at the show that 4 of the rarest breeds in the Gundog group were in neuter. What a pity that group 7 only had one entry I do believe that exhibitors are getting on board with the class, the last few shows I've been too the neuters have had quite a few entries and more dogs in the group line-up than some other classes! If clubs are going to offer this class then they should do it properly, I paid the same amount for the judges time as every other entry and I don't like feeling like we inconvenience them
-
That's horrible Bisart, I would be fuming! I was at the same show and thought they did great, but I didn't win anything so didn't have too stick around. Our judge called out for applause for the neuters as there was quite a large line up which I thought was nice. Would have thought they would like having the extra entries that the neuter class gave to the club, as I wouldn't have entered if not for the neuter class due to having coated breeds looking pretty naked at the moment!

Haha I was playing pick the odd dog out and was happy too see breeds other than BCs! They obviously deserve their spot just nice seeing something other than BCs  -
Cool, thanks for answering! I knew there would be a reason behind it, I just like finding out why other trainers do what they do, hope I didn't offend or anything with my question :)

Best Crates For Trialling & Classes
Sayreovi replied to DogsAndTheMob's topic in General Dog Discussion
Ohh I never thought of that, I was looking at buying ccrates pen but that just bigger will do just nicely!! Thanks for the tip! -
First off congrats on your JDM with Denver! Awesome result!! I am curious though, why did you enter Ella in her first trial when she has never done a broad or full sized dog walk? Just curious :) Congrats again though :D

what does it mean then? That they went to an eye specialist and got a certificate for doing so I guess. If they said they have clear and current eye certificates then that's a different matter but either I've missed it (quite possible!) or everyone is just saying the dog has an eye certificate. Too me they are different things. The Bulldog and the Clumber had current clear eye certs. Well then I don't know what they mean either! I thought that was the reason we got the certificates? I don't see how a gundog with extremely loose eyelids could win though, surely that should be seen as a massive fault?

But I already spoke with them and was informed $188.10 for all 3 core diseases : 2 of which get forwarded to WA Lab and the other to a Lab in the UK. Refer Post #7. Maybe that's where they got the range from, $150 for the two and then an extra $40 (roughly) for distemper? Dunno, I only spoke to the nurse and she went and asked the vet who was in consult so maybe it was a rough estimate. I will be ringing back next week to find out definate.
-
Ultimate vet clinic does Parvo and Distemper for about $150-$180 Was meant to ring back to speak to a vet about the length they are willing to cover it for but forgot
-
Mmm after just getting back from Canberra for the flyball nationals it's not something I am wanting to do soon again! Will just wait till next year with my girl but I have to do my boy, it's his final year he is eligible!
-
Will do!
-
Can someone please tell Victorian vets then please? :p The average price I get from most vets is $200 for one dog, never cheaper.
-
Last I heard only GTG had the licencing to perform Optigen PRA tests. Not sure if that's for all forms though, as I rang them to ask about PRCD for Tollers and got told they can't test it.
-
Erny - Do you know what it would be for just parvo and distemper? That's a pretty good price regardless seeing as I've been quoted $400 by one vet! Hopefully if I remember I will call them tomorrow, I am assuming they will only cover them for one year?
