  1. We had a members comp today and Darcy and I walked away with a first in Novice Jumping, it was our only run as we got rained out but still very happy with him as we hadn't been to training for a few months as we had been doing flyball and showing on my free weekends! I had planned on getting back into agility next year with him as Jovi will be running as well so it's nice too know we still have it, it's been great training Jovi as I think alot of my bad handling habits are going away (hopefully :p). I am not the best handler but definately being in a proper agility club for foundation is certainly helping me so I've applied it unknowingly today with Darcy.
  2. Agreed If a dog can't achive 1000 points with no other requirements then just challenge points, then it doesn't deserve the award of Grand Champion.
  3. What is accomodation like around the area? Say within an hour to an hour and a half drive that allows dogs inside?
  4. I'd hate to say it, but I really do think there is something wrong with you. Have you seen your doctor recently? No, maybe I should.....I don't feel feverish though?
  5. I think there is something wrong with me!! I want to buy something but there is nothing I want!
  6. 1. Medium-sized 2. Athletic build 3. Medium length coat 4. Intelligent/trainable (different things I know but I want both :p) 5. Doesn't care about other people/animals I have 3 Tollers and one is definately not the athletic build I like (Short legs and heavy build, not what I consider athletic!) but is very intelligent and competitive especially in flyball so makes up for it a bit but sometimes his body doesn't do what his mind wants him too do! My other two are much closer physically to what I prefer and my girl has an excellent personality for dog sports as she is highly trainable, loves to learn and extremely focussed on her task and me (doesn't pay attention to anyone else or other dogs). My other boy is her father and he passed on all his good traits and none of his bad!
  7. Hope she is found soon! I've posted on Facebook as I am only in Pakenham and have friends who live in Emerald, hopefully with all the people looking for her she will pop up somewhere!!
  8. Should add, that the latest Vicdog has two clubs offering neuter classes!!! Cranbourne Dog Club and the Gippsland show (sorry can't remember name, pretty sure it's in Morwell though!) Will be sending in entries to those shows for all three dogs (2 entire, 1 neuter) even if I can't go with a little note saying why, so hopefully they will offer it again next year!!
  9. Thanks everyone for the kind comments, I am very proud of her, she definately has a big future in everything she tries.....just gotta work on the handler! :p
  10. I only say a command once and also never use stay in agility. Too me stay means stay where you are no matter what! What commands do you use for the stays in obedience? I wouldn't want to use a stay command in agility if she is too move if you use stay in obedience.
  11. Thanks Tassie, I am very proud of her! Her is a photo of Darcy (who is her dad) doing a run at the same comp
  12. Very proud of my little Jovi, on the weekend we had a flyball comp and due to a few dogs pulling out at the last minute we stuck her in the team too do a few recalls and just too be in the ring environment as she was coming anyway as I had my boy running. She did a few recalls on day one and had a shoddy attempt at a full run but I didn't do it properly (didn't get a chance to give her warm up runs so she knew what I wanted) so she went over the first jump and then came straight back LOL No worries though, I knew I had done wrong straight away! The next day we stuck her in the first two heats rather than last two so we could start of on her height so I could give her a few runs during warmup......the end result is she ran clean 4 times out of 4!! So very proud of my little girl, I nearly started crying :D :D Not bad for a dog that only started flyball training 3 months ago and only just started doing box work with full runs and only done runs with the team twice.......extremely proud of her, she gives her all in everything she does. Now too actually have her proper debut at a competition next year, like I had planned! Should also say my boy ran flawlessly all weekend (two day comp) over 14inch jumps (photo is Jovi over 9inch), I stuffed up a cross once and let him go too early and he runs around the jumps if it's an early cross but that was it!
  13. I am another who thinks Leo is just gorgeous, he is just beautiful, always happy and loves nothing more than saying 'hello' too anyone who crosses his path. He is a credit too you LP and to Ana and Ben who bred him......they are the breeders I want my first Aussie off because of how awesome Leo is :p
  14. Just a little brag, but Jovi after a few weeks of foundation lessons has started being able to do 4-5 obstacle sequences!! At the moment it mainly consists of jumps, tunnels, and tyre jumps with front and rear crosses but I am very proud of my little girl, she is also doing a full set of slightly off center weaves. Haven't started any contacts yet but her 2o2o is very good so can't wait to give it a go :D She is certainly enjoying herself and training, which is what I was after as well!
  15. Thanks for posting this, I have several of these littered around the yard and am very happy with them for the price so may stock up on some more! :D
  16. Nova: Was taught luring, you know the push pull method, he is very quick on the weavers but doesn't really "weave" It's more of a push the poles out of the way and try to go straight down the middle! Darcy: Channel (Tunnel) method with verticle poles, he is a stepper and I am very proud of his weavers, I can send him into the weavers from almost any point including half way down on the right so he has to run back and around the first pole. Very consistent and will keep weaving regardless of where I am, I can send him on ahead while I wait at the back and he will keep going, and he doesn't pop out even when I peel away if I am next too him. I believe it's because of this method and he has a very clear idea of what weaving means and what I expect him too do! Jovi: Channel (Tunnel) method with verticle poles, she is a mixture as she is still learning, she starts off hopping but then goes faster towards the end and starts stepping. I am hoping with time she will be as good at weaving as Darcy, so am teaching her how I taught him with a few adjustments along the way :D Most difficult is being able to remember the course! I look at some of the Master courses and wonder how on earth people remember what goes where!
  17. My guys also do agility and flyball, plus walked on concrete and still need to have their nails trimmed. I check every week when I do their full groom, sometimes I have to cut sometimes not. Nova is the only one who doesn't like getting his done, he just doesn't like the noise but still accepts it as he knows a treat is coming......the other two lay on their side and shut their eyes Would never pay someone else to do it either.
  18. I think they are gorgeous little dogs and after meeting a few recently have added them too my small breed dog want list, which consists on just Papillons :p Awhile ago, there was a few puppies at a show (breeder is a member here) and they were just stunning, it was extremely tempting as they would slot in nicely I reckon! :p
  19. I changed vets about a year and a half ago now, because my vet of 10 (maybe longer) years said my 9 week old Toller puppy would have severe HD by the time she was a year old and he recommended doing JPS on her even though he knew she was a future competition/showing/breeding girl! I swapped to a vet about 40 minutes away who are highly recommended by people on this forum, never had any problems and they are a great bunch, I will use a different local vet for emergencies if required but everything else I go to Monash :D
  20. Well missing a couple of shows a year for me would be missing all the shows I've entered, that's the extent of my hardcoreness....about 10 shows a year! I never said one is better than the other, I said that an agility/obedience dog is required to do alot more than a show dog and concentrate for alot longer period of time as well as being off lead and that's why bitches in season aren't allowed. You can control a male on lead, off lead with a bitch willing to stand also off lead I don't like anyones chances!
  21. So what possible reason would a snake see two dogs aggressively barking at it from inside a yard and change course to head straight at them? Then too keep coming when a person is then standing there as well......ohh and it was a tiger snake.....pretty sure they are venomous . This snake was in no danger, there was no one around and plenty of areas to go but it went straight for my dogs.....no amount of 'leave it' training on my part (if they actually remember when I haven't been there for hours) will stop them reacting if a snake goes at them!
  22. It's horrible I agree, but if you put netting down surely common sense makes you check it every day? I always checked wherever I put it down twice a day, and I think it's just dumb luck that I never actually had anything become stuck.
  23. Err... it is! So call me a do-gooder for caring about cruelty to animals? Shadecloth used in the same way will keep them out and the snakes won't get caught in it. Sure beats the hell out of an angry snake in pain dying in your netting. But hey, wouldn't want to be considered a do-gooder or something. Shadecloth and fine wire won't catch them and they can't be disposed of that way. a) That is illegal. b) Someone needs to take population ecology 101. really ? I would never have known anyway the OP's problem will be solved by the netting and the dogs will be protected I love animals but I love my dogs more, I would much rather a dead snake then a dead dog!! When I was in WA, my yard looked like fort knox with all the snake/mouse proof fencing and netting everywhere! I worked long hours and the nearest vet was 3 hours away so I am sorry but I certainly didn't want to come home to two dead dogs!
