  1. I've got my perfect main breed. I will always have a Toller or two or three :) I do plan on definately getting an Aussie and a Pap one day. There are a few other breeds I would love to own eventually and that list keeps growing unfortunately rather than diminishing!
  2. I didn't think dogs generalised well enough to use poo or skins. My dogs would be attracted to the movement not the smell, that would be a problem with a dead snake too. The only proper way with the best results is too use a real snake. I thought the collars were restricted? Suppose though if a proper trainer was to do snake proofing it wouldn't matter.
  3. It would work except do you know anyone who would allow their snake to be used as the 'bait'? What is the legality of shock collars in Victoria? I am all for training my dogs with this method but it's not exactly something you can do at home :)
  4. We are planning on doing it this year with my youngest boy, it will be his last year to do it so have to get off my bum and enter! Are the ET's listed earlier the only ones in Victoria or will there be more? I was hoping to do my girl at the same time but she doesn't turn 2 until late July.
  5. What's the advantage of having knurled metal articles? Are they less 'harsh' so dogs more willing to accept them? Murve - whats the thickness of the seekback article? Going to give a few obedience trials seeing as I can't do any agility/flyball for awhile (Jovi is nearly in season and we wait 2 months afterwards to get back into training :D)
  6. Haven't received mine yet, but they will probably come tomorrow or Friday :)
  7. Only for an important show. My girl was in season during last years Melbourne Royal, so I showed her. Turns out most of the other bitches of the breed there were in season as well so she wasn't the only one!
  8. Thanks for the photographer links/tips, fingers crossed Tailwag got some of Jovi as I am looking for a really nice one to make larger. Some good ones on the pinnicle site but more options wouldn't be bad! Can you please post the link DC when she has them up?
  9. My guys all eat every fruit and vegie I eat, some with a little more gusto but it all gets eaten eventually. I never thought it was weird, until I was feeding my girl pieces of rock melon at a recent flyball comp and noticed team mates staring at her weirdly
  10. It was ran very well I agree, the ground however was disgusting. Not a place for a National. I didn't realise that's where it usually is as the last time I was there it was on the oval (found out on the weekend it was because of the equine flu and no horses), and it was beautiful there. I didn't realise that was you DeltaCharlie, I overheard a group of people talking about ripped pads because of the grounds on the Sunday morning before racing....made me go check all our dogs pads that's for sure! We have local comps that have better grounds is all I am saying. My only other complaint was the vetting on the first day. It was done extremely rough and I had to stop him from trying as he was upsetting her too much. A little better understanding of dog behaviour wouldn't have gone astray. Second day vetting was alot better and nicer, perhaps because a lady was doing it and knew how to handle bitches :p Does anyone know if there was a professional photographer at all?
  11. My massive brag is my little girl Jovi is now a NATIONAL CHAMPION in flyball!!!!!! Words can't really express how proud I am of her at the moment, it's only really just hit me that 'her' team won the Nationals! She is only a baby at 18 months old and this was her third comp, we had a bit of a hiccup in the morning on Saturday as she crossed twice so was red carded! She had never done that before so it shocked me and threw me out of whack! I think because I was nervous and she is being a little precious at the moment as she is due in season at the moment. She got back into it though and ran flawlessly for the rest of the two days. She is only a little girl but she has a massive future, and I can't wait to see what she achieves next!
  12. Frankston came first in Div 6!!! In the end we ended up 10 wins to 2 loses. Very proud, my little girl was height dog and after a rocky start when in the first race she decided the BC in the other lane had "her" ball she chased him not once but twice so was red carded first race! She had never ever ever done that before not even during training so no idea what got into her little head  After that she was rested two races till we were on a side that she turned away from the other dog and then she was fine, like it never happened! Ran flawlessly after that thank God. Very proud, it was only her third comp so alot of the events of the day were brand new too her but she went so well. :D
  13. My oldest has been a constant grass eater his entire life, he just likes the taste and is picky about what grass he eats......he also eats flower buds when they are just closing for the night. He is a strange boy :)
  14. Have yet another flyball brag! Had another comp today and while Darcy run perfectly all day like a true champ, the real surprise was Jovi whos team not only won their division again (makes it two from two, hopefully we get a trifecta when we go to Nationals in two weeks!) but she decided to go faster and knocked about 1 - 1.5 seconds of her previous times. She was consistantly doing 5.5s all day and she was in all but one race as well. Had a go starting with her too as well and it's nice having a dog that was the same speed (Darcy can vary a fair bit depending on his mood precious boy :p) In the end my worst start with her was about a 0.150, not bad considering I've never had her run first before! All in all a very good day......now all we need is for her NOT to come into season before the Nationals please :)
  15. We are, that is if my girl doesn't come into season between now and then!!
  16. Why don't you send an email to the Agility Committee of Dogs NSW. I am sure the contact details are on the website. I am pretty sure that they made a decision on this at their last meeting after a similar enquiry. THE FOLLOWING IS NOT AN OFFICIAL RESPONSE. I suspect they would not be able to give any accommodation refunds - it would be up to you to find someone wanting any accommodation, but I believe they will refund entry fees, but would need evidence supporting your request e.g. vet certificate saying she was in season. It is all too easy for some-one with an entire bitch to claim the bitch is in season when they have decided they do not want to enter a trial after all. Please, so not quote me on this - it is not an official statement, but I belieive that is how it is being handled. My girls are due between now and the Nationals, so I am hoping the keep to timetable. I know bitches in season have kept me out of other big events. I do know, that in the past, it was tough luck if your girls came into season, but a lot have trial secretaries have softened their approach. Cheers, Will be interesting to see what response you get LP, I am sure my girl won't be in (my luck though she will come in just before flyball Nationals!) but will be good to know just in case :D
  17. Aww he is beautiful!! I think they are a gorgeous breed....one day...one day :p I do agree with Megan, an active home with a possibility of doing sports will be easier to find than an already competing sporting home. I think a WSS would be well suited to doing agility competitively as (at the chance of being flamed :p) they are alot more naturally put together and are better structured for the sport then current show GSDs but that's just my opinon :)
  18. I agree with this, the only real way to get interest from those already competing is to show off the parents capabilities and attend trials. Bit late now though  You probably already have but let other breeders know you have this guy who is suited to a sporting home. I remember your thread about early desexing, will this pup be done early (or has been done?) Alot of serious competitors wouldn't consider a puppy that has been desexed early or has to be done before maturity. Just another thing to consider :) Do we get complimentary photos of the pup? :p Would love to see a little WSS puppy, I think they are a stunning breed
  19. Posted mine earlier today, so hopefully they are received tomorrow.....considering I live in Pakenham I am hoping!
  20. Yeah Nova is the same, he LOVES showing, it was my only real regret of getting him desexed. He just has this joy of being in the ring that my other two lack, so it's lovely showing a dog that shows off :D Did they confuse him with Brock? Doesn't surprise me they are extremely similar!
  21. Same here, I hate showing in summer months for reasons like today when it was bloody hot! Couldn't let the opportunity pass though and entered, even though I was meant to be working.......changed jobs and yay I could show! Can't pass up those 6 precious points when they are so far and few between. Well done to Leo and Amanda, he is an amazing boy and just looks a million bucks! Such a great achievement! Well done! ETA: Sorry about all the ! marks, just very happy with today's show!
  22. No over reaction, I would have cried if it was me! He had a good look at my boy a couple of times, it was thrilling enough to be even looked at that many times!
  23. Aussie Shepherd went NIS A Doler as well :) Well done!!
