What Nutty Things Were You Scared Of When You First Got Your Dog?
SeeGee replied to SeeGee's topic in General Dog Discussion
Charlie and Mia <beagles> burrow under the doona, and dig the bed to make sure its nice a comfy for them...... they no longer are allowed to sleep on our bed, but can come in for cuddles before bedtime and in the morning when we all wake. Too many ripped sheets. When Charlie first burrowed I thought he was going to suffocate, but the best one i have is, once, when he was a pup, he was sleeping draped around my head <as you do> and suddenly i thought he wasnt breathing. I whirled him round flat onto the bed and started to do mouth to mouth!!!! I was hysterical, sure he was dead - OH had to pull me off him as Charlie started whimpering in terror. I think i took years of Charlies life with that one! -

Back when I got Charlie, I had no idea how lucky I was, him being as healthy as he was/is. -
HI Everyone, Im quite inspired by MMs post in another thread, so thought I would put it out there - what did you do when you first got your puppies that you look back on and just CRACK UP? This is MMs' post from another thread <used with her permission of course> My experience has nothing to do with breeding, just an example of sheer ignorance. I bought two puppies (one from a BYB - knew nothing at the time - and one from a breeder). I was a nervous wreck, particularly at the way they curled up to sleep and I asked my vet if dogs could die of cot death embarrass.gif embarrass.gif . He didn't laugh at me either. Im still a neurotic dog owner - but seriously when I first got Charlie I was down the vets every few weeks sure we was going to die of some deadly peril! He had a little patch of hair ripped off his ear from playing rough in the yard and I was sure it was ring worm - down the vet. He fell asleep sitting up and I was sure he had an advanced case of HD - down the vet <he actually is on natural supplements for HD but with nothing showing at this time> I treated him like a piece of glass that could shatter at any time. I checked him over every night for cuts or bruises - when he had a lump form on his chin I was SURE it was a tumor - its a mole....<one of many!> What about you? What did you do when you got your first puppy that was completly insane/over reaction etc that makes you laugh like crazy now..... Dont get me wrong - Im still neurotic and over protective lol......but I know Charlie and Mia arent going to shatter <maybe just explode from over eating, but thats another story> This is just a bit of fun - I'm hoping for a laugh! Jacqui

both beagles, once or twice a month depending on whats been rolled in, in the shower with me! They are experts now, have a routine, and are slowing liking the water more and more (they dont like water as a rule) but we have a lovely time and I take it slow, letting them get used to the warm water and we play a little. One at a time only, then send out to OH for drying and conditioning (aloveen). Then they do zoomies around the house for an hour or so til they calm down. Lots of fun.

Alternative Therapies For Anxiety
SeeGee replied to GoldenGirl85's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
i missed a recent t touch seminar (the one huski went to) but will attend next year. I def believe in its properties. I currently use a tonic from a natropath that you can get from certain shops (vet n pet direct stock it). Its called calm. I called the natropath who makes it and talked to her over the phone and was very impressed with her. It has helped my beagle Mia alot. There are alot of similar things on the market, find one you feel confident with if thats what you want to look at doing. Cheers jac -

so sad....so sorry....

No, unfortunately I dont have mobile service here and there is no landline I really think she is fine, Im keeping her inside and watching her, this is more about what makes you decide what to do if its you in the situation, how 'bad' do they have to be before you decide its worthy of vet treatment Jaquilee I was going to rush her down when she was frothing but that stopped very quickly I hope shes ok *healthy vibes being sent your way*

Id be to the vet - better to be safe than sorry. Frothing at the mouth worries me alot.
