I would seperate, then watch body language when they are together. See what is happening with the younger dog.

Dogs should never fight. For any reason, it seems that this isnt the first time this dog has done this. I would seperate, one in the house one in the yard, if there is no room in the yard. Desex, but still seperate.

My old BC doesnt roll in mud that much, but he allways has 'bits' hanging from his body. Usually its his tail, bits of grass/twigs/branches/rose cuttings/blackberry, he seems to wear them as a badge. Gilly is different, he is a grot, loves the spring at my friends place, the first thing he does when he goes out there, is to lay in a big puddle that is always on the road.

I found the british club site, wouldnt those walks be wonderfull. Is there a club is Aus?

Trish. I have just been looking at lots of pics, there is one of a Fauve walking out into a ring. He seems so self assured and confident. I am now getting my head around the need to keep my pup either crated, or on a long line. Particulaly because there are so many rabbits up here. Can you reccomend a site were i can read up on Fauves?

Great pics DA. Now thats snow Elina. The Snowy Mountains in NSW and Victoria get lots of snow and I even get it up here in the Northern Tablelands of NSW. The weather man said that there will be snow in the southern states, early next week.

I dont think so Steve, she has DannyHobbit to help her. She just needs to stay still and rest. Which is hard for her.
-
Feef has done her back in and is prone, so cant get to answer any messages. She has asked me to tell you she will get back to you once she is better.
-
Gilly will hold his left and then his right foot up, when I put his hoodie on him. He also does this for his harness.

OMG look at those puppy paws.

Radio National just had interviews with landcare winners and one of them was a dairy in Jamberoo.Another was the people useing mareemas to guard fairy penquins in Vic. Sounded like an amazeing set up. Dairies are so big now, it was bad enough counting cows with 150, counting 600 would do your head in. Did you have collars on them?

We had about the same out in the paddock, as we milked. Used to take them to a property in Kin Kin, they would come back covered in ticks its was disgusting. We would send the dry girls to the other property. The 30 litre thing was what I tried to explain to someone once when they asked me if I could hand milk. It always seemed like you would get home, have breaky and it was 2.30 time to move again. Lab Rat It was all about how the top female controls the herd, were she stands in the line and how she ptotects herself. If youve met Holsteins, you understand how big they are. One of the things was de-horning, cows he have horns are better mothers, than de-horned ones.

It took me a long time to get used to bought milk again. But I would like to make some cheese from raw milk. The dairy I worked on was in Queensland and in storm season, we used to loose power at milking time.It used to drive me crazy. To have 150 Holsteins complaining at you to be milked. I had a person who got milk from me, ask if I couldnt milk them by hand. I also had friends who thought I didnt have to milk on weekends. They would come up from the city thinking I didnt have to work. Ah the joys of being wet twice a day, pruney fingers, the smell of milk, cats waiting around. Early mornings in the dark finding missings girls. That nice walk to the paddock at sunset side stepping snakes. We had a 14 aside pit system. The other property didnt have a system at all, you had to bend down to put the cups on. I was very thankfull I didnt work there. I loved the work. BUT would never marry a dairyman.

I like Dexters, they are good milk and meat animals and are small, so more suited to smaller holdings. And FiFi's fav Highland Coos. There are a few up here, amazeing animals.

So many times Ive had a milker look me in the eye and purposly stand on my foot. I used to get pruned fingers from haveing to feed the calves twice a day. It used to break my heart to see the male calves go off to the slaughter house. At least at the sales they have a chance. But lifes hard on a dairy stud, no place for bulls now. My boss ran a runty young bull with the herd once, said he was useless. That bull got at half of the cows, two years later he won at the Ecca.

Geez Danielle take it easy stop seeing things in my posts. I was not being criticle and it is 'silly' to have cattle in the city. What sort of life is that for them. Animals need to be animals, bulls need lots of space and they need to be castrated. Even then there isnt any guarentee that you will have a gentle animal. They also live for a long time, I had a milker called Barbara, she was 15 when she died. She was lined up to be milked when she died. Bulling is interesting isnt it Pers. I love cattle especially Holsteins, they are so clever and their politics are really interesting. David Attenborough did a show on them and how they run their herds.
-
I wasnt being rude, Ive spent a lot of time with Holsteins and know how big and pushy they can be.I knew someone who was killed by a Holstein bull. Unless you get them young, you have a very large pushy animal on your hands. They arnt animals you take on without some knowledge. I milked a lot of them for a good period of time, so got to know them.
-
They arnt cows they are bulls, they will be big sooner more than later. Most studs dont keep bulls, thats why they go to be killed. Its horrible but thats veal for you. People want veal. You need a lot of space and feed for one. To have one in the city is silly, they need too much feed, what do you do with a bull? Its a nice thought to save them.

My Gilly is afraid of squeeky toys. But he gets excited when he hears a rat or a mouse. When he heard an Anichinus last week he got really excited. So it seems its only artificial squeeks he doesnt like. He is also terrified of the nail clippers, he has to be knocked out to get his nails done. Many have schoffed and said he is only little, he is a little ball of muscle, when it comes to nails.

Hey Trish will you take some pics?

My Gilly has the McDonalds big M on his bum.
-
My three will tell me someone is there, but wag with happiness while they are doing it.

My Gilly loves the cold, he goes crazy when it snows here and hail brings out the pup in him. He was 9 this year.
