  1. Have made two separate trips of 14-15hrs each for whippets. Straight there and straight back. Wouldn't bother me how far we had to travel. If the dog we like is far away, then that's how far we will drive to get him/her.
  2. I don't know why more vets don't have IV catheters placed in patients prior to the final injection. Baffles me. Makes for a much less stressful event for the animal, and doesn't leave the owner traumatised as is the case with the OP's friend if things don't go according to plan.
  3. You'd be surprised what people will do. Not uncommon for people to get a BYB 6wo and put him straight out in the yard on the first night....alone. Not much surprises me these days..........unfortunately.
  4. Interesting. :D Sorry, I couldn't help myself.
  5. My Afghan had a very noticable white patch on his chest as a pup. Can't notice it at all now, and he is clipped too. He seemed to grow, and the white patch sort of stayed the same size.
  6. Alot of our clients refer to their pit bulls as red noses. They tell me it's a certain line of breeding.
  7. I would wait until 9-12 mths. I am a Vet Nurse, and our vets would be desexing him around 3-5mths, but I strongly disagree with this (especially in a larger breed like a Weim)
  8. Exactly. Slitting a dog's throat is not in any way a humane way to PTS, shooting with multiple bullets even worse, let alone the fact that he allowed the other dogs to watch while it was done. He should have the book thrown at him, with whatever animal welfare charges they can make stick over there. I don't care if his workplace told him to do it, he was the one that did it. I totally agree. He should get maximum penalty/punishment.
  9. My understanding is they have to have a screw in each of the 4 corners, but the plastic clips are fine along each side.
  10. Mastiff x Staffordordshire Bull Terrier. Looked very Mastiff, but in a Stafford sized body. Front legs were so crippled the dog can barely walk, and he's only a young dog too (around 2yo I think from memory). :D
  11. Excellent response IMO. I too would give them a second go.
  12. We have one that says "If you want the best seat in the house, move the dog!" Parents bought me this one. And another, although not dog related. No Trespassing. Violators will be shot. Survivors will be shot again.
  13. I voted other. Our crate comes camping (for those times we cannot watch the dogs ie setting up etc) Dog shows. I don't exhibit, but sometimes go to watch a friend and will take a dog or two. When we go whippet racing. Just somewhere for the whippets to nap and have their own space. Such a handy thing to have IMO.
  14. After 6km next to a bike, my HR would be 0. Does that make me really fit, or dead!!
  15. We get a few purebred Maltese where I work, only a few. Most are Maltese X Shih Tzu. But then again, we see FAR more cross breds than purebreds anyway.
  16. I have no objection to food names at all. Anything is better than Bella, Bonnie, Molly, Jess, Tyson, Max. These come through the door all day everyday.
  17. I'm speechless. :D :D I'd like to shove some things into her, and it wouldn't be down her throat either.
  18. Whilst I agree, spending this amount of money on a dog wedding is outragrous, does it really matter? If they have so much money and this is what they choose to do with it, it shouldn't matter. I don't know why someone with loads of money is made to feel guilty for not donating to charity. It's their money, and they can do with it as they please. I'm not just referring to this particular display of extravagance, many more. Time and time again I hear people bad mouthing others for spending THEIR money on whatever they want, instead of donating it. If they want to donate, great, if not, they should be left alone. /rant
  19. Exactly what poodlefan said. I bet Afghan Hounds are down the bottom of the list! I'm yet to meet a dumb Afghan. Sneaky, cunning and highly intelligent is what they are!
  20. Check this one out. There are loads of these types of vids on youtube!
  21. That's odd. I wonder how the vet came to the conclusion she was a hemophiliac. It's not a routine test done on admission for desexing.
  22. Sorry if this has been posted before. Link Here Gave me a good Not sure about the credits at the end though. That doesn't look like a Golden Retriever to me (and I'd never heard of the other breed) I have now though. Lovely looking dogs
  23. Your friend sounds wonderful! :p
