  1. Very good. No mention of how odd it is for non-doggy folk to see people walk an agility or rally course without dogs though, even I can appreciate how silly that looks!
  2. If you look at idigadog's website you will see more huskies that are similar to Hope, they even have a littermate, "Ruff" http://www.idigadog.com.au/Ruff.htm I doubt these dogs "pop up in the more familiar looking Siberian husky litters" or are culled, but are rather another case of a breed diverging between show and 'working'. Hope is a racing bred Husky as opposed a show ring husky. At sledding you will see a lot of variation.
  3. So glad the latest lump is a lipoma :D Flynn's case was not quite as HW describes. He did have diagnosed Haemangiosarcoma, in a different location. While deciding whether to submit him to a large rib re-section surgery he was x-rayed and ultrasounded and a lesion was found on his spleen. He had a spelenctomy at age 13 and his recovery was not as quick as would be in a young dog. Thankfully the lesion on his spleen was not cancer, but a haematoma, the op didn't buy him any time so to speak. Personally if I had another dog in relative good health, even at an advanced age, and a lesion was found on the spleen with no other signs of cancer yet then I wouldn't hesitate to have a splenectomy done. However you have other things to consider, so it's not that straight forward.
  4. Awesome results TSD!! You must be over the moon :) Good girl Em!
  5. Sensible is not a word usually associated with Polo I was amazed he didn't just dart off into the forest
  6. My GSP had a go at sled dog today, once working out it was OK to pull and for mum to be behind him he had a great time
  7. Looking forward to seeing photos My intention is to take out the existing 'false floor' with drawers and create a higher one with the full width across available. High enough to fit two crates. The current drawer is handy for leads etc. but being half the width I can't fit anything like a crate.
  8. Found it. schipwreck, in case you want to see a two door option with false floor on an xtrail http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/166450-custom-cages-anyone-have-photos/page__view__findpost__p__3661653
  9. OK thanks, off to look now. I have looked at puppy bar threads previously but obviously missed that one!
  10. I read that recently but I have double doors on top of a false floor so... Colin was also going to put a divider in but I asked him not to. Oooh, photo please?? :D
  11. Ack! I forgot to email you, sorry The poster looks great
  12. I've recently purchased an xtrail and want some pupy bars but still thinking about how I want the back 'fit out' so will watch this thread with interest! I think I read in one thread that double doors on the back weren't really doable in an xtrail??
  13. My older dogs get coats left on them when the weather is cold and overcast. They are smooth coated dogs with very little body fat and really feel the cold. My current boy wears a Wolf's Den coat but previously I've used ones made of the same fabric that just have a velcro strap around the waste. My dogs have never had an issue, although I realise it's not without some risk. To me the comfort they gain is worth the minimal risk. I also have the luxury of working very close to home so if I thought they needed them removed due to change of weather I could pop home. I have never felt the need.
  14. My GSP will not mate until the bitch is absolutely ready, the first mating he had was nerve wracking as she was a tart for days before he gave her any interest ;) By the time he does become interested the bitch will usually only tolerate him for about 3 days, although he's keen until they leave. I can not let them run together during this time as he is relentless.
  15. Sure, PM me your email address and I'll send something this evening :)
  16. I think pictures are the best way to grab peoples attention and give them an idea very quickly what it is. I'm sure some DOLers would let you use some agility photos if you don't have many? I'm happy to donate some. Different breeds to show the variety is a good idea.
  17. Another Whippet timid of the 30kg GSP
  18. The bestest Whippet a bit younger and giving the gundogs what for :)
  19. An update on my boy in case it helps with statistics :) 14 months after a 6 month injection my boy finally appeared to return to normal. His testosterone behaviours and testicle size returned, and pretty rapidly. Thankfully this was a month after my girl had her first season, throughout which he was entirely disintersted :D I can't see that happening next time though.
  20. I don't think it's necessarily either. I have had extremes in the one breed, my first Vizsla was the biggest food hound around, every meal was eaten with great gusto even if it was the same as he'd had for the past two years. My youngest Vizsla now is the worst eater I've had and alhtough she's improving with age, it's still not uncommon for her not to have a full meal each day. My dogs have been brought up the same way in regards to food and with my current three I have the full range again, a complete guts, one sensible one and the fuss pot. I try not to pander to my dogs in regards to food but will admit when they're looking skinny I do try a few things However, I've certainly seen fussy dogs that are a result of their over indulging owners. Not uncommon for these dogs to be quite overweight either
  21. As I explained in my initial query, I often don't feed food that can have power easily added to it and as a consequence I find I forget to give powders regularly. The dog I am considering it for is extremely easy to give tablets/capsules too, however I'd still not do it if it was 15-20 daily (although 5 seems more likely). Personally I'd prefer to get all the powder joint products as a capsule.
