  1. It is a lot of fun, except Dee swims with her tail up and splashes you in the face.
  2. I am extremely proud of my boy Zeph and Rottisliebe's boy Flint. They have only been doing water rescue for a few months and have embraced the activity like they were born to do it. They are so confident and trusting in us that nothing bad will happen to them, that they will try anything. They love the boat work and today tried swimming with their handler and rescuing a person, where they had to tow the drowning person to shore. They are enthusiastic (sometimes a little too much) and so happy to be in the water and working. The possibilities are endless for these boys.
  3. Starkehre, you do a fantastic job with all your dogs and should be very proud.
  4. What a brilliant job you did. You were calm, confident and showed that you knew all about pet photography. Lots of simple tips for we ordinary pet owners. Well done. And you did look gorgeous.
  5. Oh bugger about the unhappy tummies. Hopefully they are all on the improve and continue to thrive.
  6. Ronin is absolutely gorgeous. Such a gentle soul. Baylee had her Tigger for 11 and 1/2 years. He has some flee holes in him, but is otherwise intact. If you put him in the down stairs town box she would retrieve him and take him upstairs to her bed each night, where he would get a good fleeing. The other two could not really care about their puppyhood bears.
  7. The hat is for your head as you are the highest object. You just keep the dogs close to you as you walk past :D
  8. I have heard wearing a hat or cap with eyes on it works. The eyes are facing backwards.
  9. Not just magpies but plovers as well at the moment. With Zeph just give him a ball and he is totally oblivious.
  10. Allerzeit, you forgot one of the most important requirements, regular photos and updates. Looking good. I can see one going to NSW, a couple staying in Tassie.....................
  11. It is extremely important to provide soothing distractions during times of stress, and I take my first aid oath very seriously So very glad to hear that Bunter is bounding forward and that life is as it should be in the DDD household. :D
  12. I've heard of those - I think I saw something on FB and didn't dare invetigate !! Bunter seems fine, so I hope he stays that way, poor little boy. Indulge http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/227860-five-minute-chocolate-mug-cake/page__p__5532243__hl__%2Bfive+%2Bminute+%2Bchocolate+%2Bmug+%2Bcake__fromsearch__1#entry5532243
  13. Holy crap DDD. That would have been terrifying. I am so very glad that Bunter is back home and appears to be relatively unscathed. I wish you lots of 5 min mug chocolate cake, vanilla ice cream and hot fudge sauce.
  14. A huge congratulations on the safe arrival of Nova and Rave's litter. I am rapt that all are doing well and thriving. Definitely time for a Nana nap for you and for Nova.
  15. Yep there is nothing like being a hostage in your own neighbourhood. I feel for you and the gorgeous greys.
  16. Oh so many soft silky ears to pat. Love cocker ears. Weibritty Bob and his friend were definitely the preferred ball throwers.
  17. pers your Dad looks very wise and peaceful in that photo. He looks like the type of gentleman that you could sit with over a cuppa and hear endless tales of his life adventures. It is a beautiful photo
  18. Thanks BCC. Previously she would have been hyper-vigilant, constantly switching from prey drive to avoidance, with snapping at approaching hands and not able to listen to commands or praise. Yesterday she was relaxed, engaging, confident and way under threshold, except with the young boy suddenly being there. However, she came back and dropped for tummy rubs. Previously she had been doing tricks for him and playing ball. She has come a long way. Neither dog was keen on getting cuddles from one adult, especially Dee, but they were happy to sit slightly away and get pats. Male adults can be so childish sometimes. (roll eyes)
  19. 37/52 Taken at a 10 year old's birthday party with a beach theme. The dogs preferred to play ball with the older Gents to doing tricks for food with the kids. Surprised to say the least
  20. Wow Guys what beautiful photos. Love the colour of the Tulips Weibritty. I love the textural contrast in your photo teekay. There is a peacefulness/calmness about it. Impatiens I love the contrast of the birds against the clouds. HW I just love your backyard. So envious.
  21. OMG Pers that is brilliant. You have captured the wonder of the event to share with those of us not lucky enough to attend. Your words connect the pictures and create the story beautifully.
  22. We went to a 10 year old birthday party yesterday with the dogs, after being at obedience training in the morning. The theme was a beach party. There were 6 primary school aged kids and 12 adults in a small house and yard. The dogs behaved so well. No food was stolen. No beach balls or blown up palm trees were killed. Squealing girls were not chased while jumping on the trampoline (Dee has a huge prey drive). No people were accosted for food, which is surprising considering how much these two are food hounds. They calmly did tricks with the kids for cheese and kabana. Dee was only startled once by the 9 year old boy. She was lying down with Zeph and he plonked himself on the floor between them unexpectedly. I was right there and was able to get her to drop and get her tummy rubbed in a calm manner. So she recovered well. Surprisingly their favourite activity was playing ball with a couple of older gentlemen. She is doing so much better in crowded situations with unpredictable kids. Calm and confident but able to recover when the unexpected happens. The dogs were even able to put a lady who was rather scared, due to a previous dog bite, at ease, and had her playing ball with them. I am so glad that I have taught them hand signals along with voice commands, as they were able to do tricks for a young girl who stutters badly, and made her feel included and empowered. It was a very good day and everybody had a great time.
  23. Poor Jake. It sucks that he was tormented by a 3 year old. Where the hell was parental supervision?
  24. Brilliant news. I am so happy that you and Stella have found some reliable support and are moving in the direction you want to with her working activities.
  25. And it is not even Christmas yet :D
