Hehe...i just came from Ebay - they had some 100gm packs for $9.25 or so with free postage? I'm guessing that's an ok deal then!

Where do you get Calendula Tea from? I could have sworn i'd seen the stuff at my local coles/woolies, but haven't been able to find it again - where is the best place to look? Specialist health stores? or...?

I was offering the wheat free option as the Royal Canin GSD (adult and junior) is wheat free but is chook based- i can't think of any easily available puppy food that is chookless - as most will still contain chicken fat. It might be worth scrolling through the various product sites to check the ingredients lists, note which ones don't have chicken/chicken fat in them and then see if you can source the food through local stores - some may be able to order in the more difficult to get foods.

Hmm...i asked if he was the only Spanish Mastiff in Aus...and was told that he was? Oh well - it was great to see one in the flesh

I Need Someone Who Might Like To Do A Sewing Job
KitKat replied to Erny's topic in General Dog Discussion
Erny - Amstaffs4me makes these :D ETA - very reasonable prices, all measured to fit I'm still trying to get a standard measure from one of my GSD's who has decided he is afraid of the tape measure -
How old is he? You may be able to get away with going to an adult kibble, there are lamb or salmon varieties that may be worth a try. Also have you considered a wheat free kibble?

RubyStar - when i left my boys with their breeder for two weeks i just paid cost of food I'd suggest going with the Breeder option, or with a good Boarding Kennel (many can board cats and dogs, not together tho), I've put my dogs into a boarding kennel as well, tho the one i chose also did 'live in' training with them for extra $$ - i figured it was a good price for additional enrichment (they did get time to run about on the property as well).

Do Any German Shepherd Owners Have One Of These Beds?
KitKat replied to heroeswit's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've not got them for my GSD's - one of them would just drag them out into the rain/mud etc But they are a very popular, pretty tough but comfy bed - they are a very high selling item where i do casual work on weekends -
I like it when people argue with you on what breed of dog it is you own. I had a lady who works at a pet food store ask me what breed of dog I own the other day, I told her and she said no such breed exists I had people tell me my black GSD was a BSD...at a dog show
-
I don't know if this has already been said - but 'beware' type signs make YOU liable if the dog bites...it's not seen as you warning people, it's seen as you admitting your dog may/will bite. Signs stating 'dog lives here' etc etc are all fine...but anything with 'dangerous', 'beware', 'be aware' etc is admitting liability before an event.

I met the one and only Spanish Mastiff in Aus today And i knew what he was

With that info it doesn't sound like a UTI...Is he desexed?
-
I just use a rake, preferably with the double row - works perfectly and the dogs loooove it ;)
-
I can't use the furmi on my GSD's it cuts their coats something shocking - and so did the coat king ;) both those combs get used on the cats now

Just for those who are Petwise VIP members - of which don't read their email, didn't want you to miss out! Be prepared for a line up - but the 20% off can be worth it
-
Also...having a dog from a pup isn't necessarily going to stop their dog from having issues
-
Currently no, because imports are UKC registered. If they were imported from Europe and FCI registered, then there would be possibility of breed recognition. In the interim you can alway show a rough coat Anatolian! Ok...colour me in love!!!!! I didn't even know they came in a rough coat version!!! ETA - any like him likely to be floating about Brissie anytime soon to meet?
-
Cripes...i woudn't mind meeting one of those lovely dogs!!! ETA - are they able to be shown?

I read it as more that people consider the halti's etc as 'soft option' as opposed to the prong being a 'hard option' - both can cause damage with misuse or lack of knowledge, but both can create improvement if used corectly. However the halti in it's design can be a constant aversive due to where it sits and can irritate the dog, even not fitting it properly can make it more of an aversive - however it is marketed as a no fail soft/gentle option. The prong collar by the look of it is seen as a harsh and cruel option - when used sensibly, let alone correctly, is actually a 'nicer' option then many other tools out there, not for everyone - but no tool is.
-
I'd be just as likely to want to ban halti's before prong collars or check chains - any and all can be used badly - but it's not the training tool that's makes them an issue...it's the tool on the other end of the lead! I recently saw a GSD in a halti - you could tell it has been used incorrectly over a period of time - partly due to the wear on the halti itself, but also due to the wear on the dog's muzzle and disruption it was causing to the dogs eye. It was all i could do not to rip the damn thing off of the dogs face The owners thought they were doing the right thing and still do, i wasn't in a good position to say much other then that they may need to look at a new better fitting halti I've also seen a prong used incorrectly - but it was due to the person not the tool - and i was even in less of a place to say anything that time!
-
As far as i know it's illegal for those in QLD to import them without a licence, but there is nothing to say you can't use one - however local groups (CCCQ, RSPCA etc) won't allow you to use them in their training/showing/etc.
-
 I have the problem of the two fluffy GSDs...the one with the fuller thicker coat stays nice and clean and only occasioncally gets matts in his fluffy tail, the other one with the sparce slowly growing back coat seems to turn to dags and matts overnight...with or without rain/dirt/etc! (I'm tempted to shave him but i want his coat to grow back and see if that helps with all his contact allergies!)

Harm came to me to show me how much i love owning and training dogs, and what it is to have a Heart dog even if that dog strains the bounds of just about everything. (RIP) Bronx came to me so show me how much i love owning and training dogs, and that you can indeed have more then one Heart dog. Sabre came to me to show me how much i can put up with (allergies, naughtiness, anxious behaviour) and still keep a dog, and how much effort i will put in to keep that dog healty and happy. (And what to steer clear of in another pup/dog!)

I've used Polaramine with success

Wow...last time i had a chat with the Council about barking dogs i was told the final scenario was either get rid of the dog, pts the dog, or get the dog debarked. I personally don't have an issue with debarking as long as it's done properly by a vet etc. Another thought...has that state banned the de-clawing of cats? I have a much bigger issue with that procedure.
