Dr. Chris Brown On 7pm Project Tuesday Night...
KitKat replied to Fevah's topic in General Dog Discussion
Wow, der, where did he think they came from? Like so many people believe - from oops litters or from people looking after their dogs but breeding them - Yeah i know he's a vet and studied etc but look at the number of vet run puppy farms who think it's perfectly fine? And perhaps even run ones that aren't as bad as the ones WE expect because we've seen it in the flesh, known people who have, have seen the pics and aftermath. I could easily say that way more then half the people i work with at my site don't know puppy farms exist and assume pups from petshops are just oops litters etc and there is nothing wrong with buying a pup off the internet...it's just the new newspaper right? All i can say is he's doing a good thing by bringing this to light and more people will watch - because he's cute/funny/has a tv show whatever...as long as they watch and get a clue and get talking about the wrongness of puppy-farms. -
It certainly looks interesting! Looking forward to having a good go at it

What Is She!? And Whats Wrong With Her Skin?
KitKat replied to Megs's topic in General Dog Discussion
Aweee.......................... Do you think he would be OK with a cat in the house too? I hope so cause I have 12 cats living here atm. Yeh - sorry about hi-jack. All in a good cause, tho. :D Cool! If/when you are seeking a home for him, can you let me know? I'd like to check him out if he's looking. And you can check me out! :D Ams - I'm thinking you could wave Sid past Noisymina and he'll be rehomed in a snap -
Ummm...I think the OP linked and copied and pasted from the Courier Mail...

My guys looove when i bring home turkey legs for them - their eyes almost pop out of their heads ;)
-
And you matter how well trained your dog might be to be off-leash - all you need is for a dog to run out from a house, cat to run past etc and you have an accident waiting to happen
-
Also get in touch with Police and Customs - for young dogs that haven't been quite suited for training I was walking one girl who didn't pass training and she was being flown back to Customs head office to be rehomed. She was a lovely girl who after 15mins walking would take any opportunity to flop into a drop in any shady spot she could get to

My dogs are naked unless they are going out of the yard - i think a check is too risky to leave on a dog without supervision.
-
I thought it was one year after the 2/3 vacc depending on if the pup had two or three vaccs...
-
Wow!!! Congratulations!!!!! He's a handsome young lad isn't he?!

Don't do anything with haste - you could regret it. Also interstate adoptions are not uncommon - and considering you have had little to no contact with this pup before the expectation that you turn up to buy - you'll probably get more info (regular pics and updates etc) on the prospective pup then you have had on this one. This pup may be a bit out of the blue due to other people on the list in front of you deciding against this pup - eg would prefer a girl, wanted a particular shaped blaze, etc etc - so don't necessarily see that as the turn off. Mind you i'd be hesitant myself if i was only given a short time to decide and with breeders terms the only way to get the pup. Call them and ask if they can email you a copy of the contract so you can go over it and decide if you are comfortable with those particular terms or not. And if not comfortable make notes and ask the questions of the Breeder - if you are happy with the answers then great, if not happy then start considering other Breeders interstate etc. Good luck

I use a rake on my fluffy GSD's - preferably one with the two rows of prongs
-
I actually have one of that brand - and spent the extra lil bit of money to get the noise & vibration functions - i'm very very happy with it. It's v ery easy to use and has a number of levels for the static component, i've not used that on my dog as i've not needed to - the noise or vibration is enough. It has great range and is rechargeable which i find better then batteries - and the remote control will show if the collar is out of range, or if battery power is low etc. So far i've been happy with it
-
Go the Sporn It's great and it can be surprising the amount of difference in the pulling - without discomfort to you or your dog I tried it on one of my guys and it's great - and it doesn't cause discomfort/distraction like the halti type stuff
-
I wonder if the breeder of the male GSD knows he's being sold off willy nilly and studded in the same fashion?
-
So let me get this straight - along with all the rest...this Dutchie's owner has originally stated that the dog is from the first pure Dutchie litter in Aus...and now is also downgrading the bitches breeder by saying that they have crossbred with BSD's? Wow...i wonder if the Breeder also knows about that set of comments - along with finding out the Dutchie bitch as been bred to a GSD and the pups sold on to all and sundry - and the parents being sold to any and all. Not to mention...shouldn't the original breeder be getting first dibs on getting this bitch back to rehome her suitably?
-
I use the ruffwear packs I think they've even got a third type out now! But i have the one with the two fitted water bladders (one each side) and it is great and the dogs love them too!
-
I use Redgum Kennels for when i need to board my dogs or cats
-
I'd do a ring around of your local stores and see if they have any.
-
Just make sure you get one that needs both the vibration and the noise to set it off - else the dog next to him barking (if using the noise only) could set it off, or drinking/growling/etc (if working on vibration only) could set it off.
-
My barker is a fluffy GSD the lil prongs just fit through the fur - most collars will come with a short pair and a long pair to use depending on the length of coat
-
One of mine is a barker - i tried the auto no bark stim collar on him...he's not smart enough to learn any other trick then to shake paws (most times) but he learnt that if he shook and scratched at the collar and moved it up his neck a bit then it wouldn't work (it neds both the noise and vibration to stim). I now use a remote trainer collar on him - "the Big Leash Remote Trainer" And so far just the sound or vibration mode has been enough to settle him down if he's barking for no good reason. However i don't know if he is barking when i'm not home - and of course can't use the remote on him if i'm not home..lol. But he does automatically settle a bit with just putting the collar on him - so i think he is barking less while i'm not home, but that's still better then nothing. ETA - I've also considered de-barking, but i'd rather keep that as a last resort - and so far the remote trainer seems to be working enough.

I thought they were more a choking hazard then anything else..

Don't assume that because the meat is the first ingredient that it deserves to be first on the list. Some companies weigh and list the meat while it is still fresh - as in still full of water/moisture. Other companies weigh and list the meat once it has been dehydrated. As you would expect there is a big weight difference between fresh and dried meat
