You have a 6 yr old dog that’s lived a single life off doing what it wants with no disruptions or expectations,a dog that you deem lovely . Failure to manage can lead to issues though so normal can change bigtime . Pup comes in instantly expected to share ,interact and have its life changed bigtime and in an instant you take the puppies side and discipline the older dog for dealing with the unknown. Not every dog wants company, not every dog knows how to live with company and not every dog got the memo that all should be perfect according to there human. Puppy comes in invading there space,grabs,pulls and annoys and older dog is just expected to suck it up love it .It’s a major life change for most dogs who have been single spoilt dogs . Older dog then gets told off . So moving forward older dog needs a safe zone ,pup needs a pup zone and building a relationship needs to be done slowly. Respecting a dogs reaction is important . Turfing outside to get on with is irresponsible.

Pin & comb is fine its more about technique. You need to layer/line brush & most will use a good soft clicker brush & always spraying the coat before brushing as it goes static & crazy .(water & light conditioner ) You can absolutely use an undercoat rake BUT if the technique is wrong you will still get matts . Your pup is most likely starting coat change & seasonal weather change & if spayed a coat change there too . In the perfect world look at cylinder dryers on ebay approx $90 ish dollars & they are great for fluffing out coated breeds & assisting in dead coat removal

As Rebanne said phone the vet many dont stock Lepto vaccine anyway ,it ise to be given as part of C7 in the past but times change as do the products ,no different to the various options for parvo etc . I also believe the vaccine covers certain areas so are different

Its a vaccine side effects can happen ,how bad or not at all is how long is a piece off string question. Most dont vaccinate for it unless its a high risk situation or required . Depends if your talking about the vaccine here or overseas

Basically it depends if its a registered breeder or a breeder with a bin number . It depends whether they health test or not .This again comes down to what kind of breeder they are,what org they may/may not belong too Ideally during the conversations you should have already had these questions should have been asked before heading to the meet n greet stage . Contracts most breeders have one what it covers is personal . Any dog needs to be council registered the rest is based on your intentions ,Ie you dont have to be dogsQLD registered if its just a pet but again if your breeder is savvy they will answer all these questions.

The old girl will be in pain with the issues so I gather she is on some form off pain relief . This is a massive change for an old dog something that may work or something that could be distressing . It comes down to how the dog copes in a new home,how the dog may cope with strangers taking care and whether the dog copes being alone for soo many hrs . Maybe do a trial run on a weekend when your home to see how the dog goes . Relying on neighbours to deal with a senior dog is not an option I would place on someone especially if a large old dog is mobility impaired and needs some help

Nothing frustrating but you wanting to do the park is telling her the behaviour is fine ,you can’t have your cake and eat when a dog is high drive over a ball.You have the choice to ensure the right outcome happens moving forward . Your probably lucky you haven’t been on the receiving end off a words from people already because i dont let my dogs socialise with dogs that owners cant control or have no boundries ,my dogs arent a victim to suit other owners . She isn’t being socialised as her focus is on the ball without boundaries and her behaviour during this is period is unacceptable and setting her and yourself up for an unhappy ending

Also keep in mind your not socializing your dog BUT teaching your dog how to have self control & appropriate behaviour skills when out in public,the vets or in a sitution that pushes its threshold.

Keeping the area clipped short is important ,the hair traps the moisture & crap in plus at that age they often dribble more so the moisture is always there . Surgery is no guarantee anyway so i wouldnt be putting an old dog through it Did the vet suggest the Chlorhexidine wipes ?? Douxo is commonly suggested & you can buy on amazon or from the vet

Here’s my take on things my dogs can not thrive on supercoat and I would feed more off it . I would end up with vet bills more expensive than the food . Am staffs can be skin issue prone so keep that mind if dog is doing well . What I would maybe consider is feeding less dry and add more things to make the bag last longer depending on how much you feed now . I did feed RC but don’t anymore due to constant supply issues ( I get breeders price) . I feed What stores do you have near you . Maybe doing a looky at what’s around ,bag size and ingredients is a good start now and work out your projected costs . Some feed the Costco range with success .

We groom stacks & board many more ,many get spay coat like many other breeds its not Cavalier specific .Rarely in Cavies have I had a spay coat that wasn’t easy to strip out . Non have died young,had any major health issues . Cavaliers are good sporting spaniels ,like any breed with flop ears can be a higher risk off ear issues . They thrive at dog sports ,have there quirky method off talking but agree with others not a SAD breed but not the breed for everyone . A few friends have lost there oldies recen5ly aged 14 to nearly 17 years . They are certainly a breed that owners can over spoil . GOOD breeders certainly test & as mentioned SM is a tricky & testing has no always been easy or readily available with MRI .Its not a case off ringing the vet tomorrow to test it can be a slow process for every dog to ever be MRI tested due to the lack off machines Aussie . The breed clubs are a wealth off knowledge in this situation and honest about health testing ,the breed as expected has breeders and breeders . Buy with your head not your heart .

My advice go see the eye specialist now to get eye pressure checked .

The dog in Perth is from the people on gumtree who are the only breeders at present . Many awesome breeders advertise on gumtree and nothing wrong with that at all ,it’s just another platform for selling where the public look . Gumtree is where Joe public often look first dogs not DOL . Not that long ago before DOL existed you advertised pups in the Weekend paper ,gumtree,the quokka . DOL doesn’t guarantee there any better all platforms require people to buy smart .

First off your career path doesn’t give you brownie points nor mean a breeder will fall over themselves to sell too you . infact some off they worse puppy farmers are vets and vet nurses . Often people in this field from experience come across during enquiries as no it alls and feel there knowledge is above and beyond . So what you need to appreciate in language translate a family pet for maybe showing and breeding send red flags especially when the litter aspect is more a guarantee than showing . You want a perfect dog on mains to bred but most likely not show . The Goldie people are very careful these days as every crap breeder who breeds gives the breed a bad name with issues . As you would know from your career path there is no guarantee a pup turns out to be a suitable breeding animal . Whether that’s because it doesn’t grow into its potential,hip n elbow scores aren’t low enough ,eye test shows up star cataracts . Have you joined the Golden Retriever club in your state ?Have you been to shows .Are you a dogsNSW member .Have you started understanding the process for the breeders exam . What lines do you like ,whose dogs have impressed you . Generally pleas like this means ive contacted everyone just for a breeding bitch but not really researched whose dogs one likes,the health behind them and the support that breeder will give. Go to shows attend the Goldie champ shows ,see whose dogs you like and build a relationship from there and that way you will learn the lines off the dogs especially when it comes to stud dogs . When it comes to a stud dog that process will be no easier unless you pick the easy route .

Depends what you call a lot of hair B. Ollie’s and Aussies need weekly brushing ,brushing means owner committed to training grooming manners from day 1 . We board a number off awesome Blue Heelers BUT they are full on and need that brain worked and do find they can be vocal if frustrated Having said that these breeds are known for using there voice on the job so setting the boundaries and giving them the mental brain challenges is not for owners who aren’t life long committed but above all all weather committed . The kids don’t sound like there on the same level so as mentioned this dog is your adult life choice .

Common sense not every pup born is show potential not every pup born is breeding potential . These issues can be noted at 8 weeks whether ear set,tail carriage,mismark colours ,height etc etc and breeding DNA results . Only an idiot would encourage someone to show a obvious pet and waste good money doing so and it also reflects on the ethics off a breeder to send someone in the ring with such a poor examp,e lacking breed standard qualities . LR doesn’t suggest anything . A breeder who sells everything on mains is no better if going down that thought process. Some stud agreements are based on conditions.that is the business off those parties . 99% off our pups go on LR as that’s what the owners want . Encouraging someone to show means sending them in the ring with a worthy example not just a dog . If I wouldn’t show it why should a pet owner . limited can be upgraded.

Looking at your list it sounds like you really don’t now what you want . showline Border Collies aren’t less energy and will need daily stimulation Golden Retreivers daily stimulation. Poodles come with the grooming costs you don’t want . Havanese will have grooming expenses if you aren’t prepared to brush . The Papillon I know are either spooks or very active,live life dogs that thrive in agility ,obedience,tracking,scent and trick training which equates too dog with a passion to learn . As to cuddly the dog decides that in the end and how pushy the owners are in there expectations for snuggles . Barking in the end is the owners whilst some breeds can be more vocal the owners decide where the boundaries sit . Goldies and BC can be vocal . Cavies can be whiners . Poodles yappy . Walking offleash will only be as good as the effort you put in and walking onleash is a life skill for the dog especially into its seniors years so onleash walks are very important and something the humans need to commit too ,there only as boring as you make it and offleash parks often teach lots off bad manners,habits and injuries too dogs . There more like the lazy owners option for I sit here whilst dog runs around feral or gets bullied . Training is about the leash .

The pack dynamics will change again . The saying 2 is company 3 is a crowd is something all family members need to be prepared to manage . Any issues here it was the girls . We are a big multi pack household with land and management

My questions would be more based on expectations off the dog and how the apartment is set up aka will dog have access to grass or required to hang on for network or indoor doggy loo used. Is apartment first floor or is apartment fenced well if balcony’s are there . Older dogs can sometimes struggle with such a drastic life style change depending on your set up just something to factor into the pros and cons off dog expectations and older v younger in training a pup and retraining an older dog Whippets are fabulous jumpers .

One word off advice .Be mindful off the other dogs when your BC has seizures especially if no one is home. In some cases other dogs have been known to pack on the seizuring animal due to panic & fear .

In the USA you can absolutely buy flea/tick and worming stuff over the counter or online . You don’t need a vet script.
