  1. Can you clarify this comment by which other ANKC branches
  2. First off Mollie would have to pass the fight to fly aspect . She will need to meet the export requirements . This may not happen . Then there is a risk with an elderly dog . Export flying is not like a domestic flight or a drive in the car a few hrs down the road . So I would contact agents in NZ to get a feel of what requirements are for very elderly dogs that aren’t already listed on thee Aqus site. Is she crate trained.?? Would she happily cope for maybe 6/7 hrs crated .
  3. America sell them for big dogs BUT the position they need to get into for a backpack may not be pleasant fir a severe arthritic dog . Would be maybe better looking at a emergency sling like they use for Dolphins etc.
  4. Maybe try this place . https://www.wookiedogs.com/run-free
  5. I did agility with one show Greyhound and the other happily recalled 100% even if cats around . I believe any dog can learn on the job and respectful daily life requirements you just train them
  6. visit the toy poodle club of Victoria website or poodle club of Victoria or nsw website as they will have what testing is a must ,what too look out for etc
  7. Your vet can arrange it but the finer details and choices still need your input . Years ago you got no choices just here’s your pet ,now the options are many so not something the vet can just do . If you have it arranged you can inform the vet staff that when it happens can they just call to arrange pick up but it’s still easier for them to have some info . I wouldn’t use the one most vets suggest here in a pink fit so it’s my job to arrange it . Also whilst the vet will work with you they can’t hold the pet forever ,simp,y reality they don’t want animals laying in bags and no freezer big enough so the vets get on to it ASAP if you don’t offer a option . The people we use deliver the ashes back to us personally and pick up from home if the dog passes here
  8. Selsum blue . We avoid anything oatmeal even worse is vets suggest it on yeast dogs
  9. We have over 20 cremated . These days your choices are many not just urns . You can do necklaces, bracelets, ear rings, diamonds ,,rocks eco friendly, plaques, funky glass, wood boxes or plastic tub ( we had these for some as there ashes where spread )and other options . The company we use only does your dog . We don’t like who our vet uses . Yes its easier to have a plan of what you want as to the wording on the urn ie Dogs name ,wording etc and even prepay . Granted know we just phone when it happens as we now the routine & it gets easier in some ways after the first few . It is easier to know what you want so even if written done but suddenlt being asked what you want at the time & making a decsion there and then is overwhelming You can ask your vet if they do an at home PTS service or they may suggest a vet that solely does it BUT keep in mind you have the body at home until collected ,this isn’t for everyone . Ask your clinic manager if they have a preferred time if your wanting to be with him after . They may have a time allocated or room they can block from consults often clinics have multi rooms but not all in use . And also consider a driver if your emotional state may affect your driving ,it’s a hard time afterwards
  10. First off until pups are born, survived and there are enough to go around the breeder isn’t committing to a pup I would say We dont have people just turn up to look at parents either . When we do it’s after we have had a certain amount off conversation that the people are on the right page as potential owners and we have said yes to being on the list Why because some who come out are time wasters ,some think they can bring the kids out for a dog play date ,some people case out the joint . In this case they have a bitch whose yet to whelp so they may be very mindful off people bringing issues to the property . If parvo has been in the area then understandably the bitch is more important. For example we do the first meet n greet out the front . We have to protect ourselves and the dogs first off . We have nothing to hide but more to protect . Put yourself in the same shoes and think off strangers turning up to your home for a sticky beak and looking at things . If the breed requires health tests the person can absolutely share the results or tell you the status and whether pups will be genetically clear by parentage for certain breed issues ,you will know what issues in the research you have already done so should be able to ask the questions there . As mentioned by others the sire may not be owned by them so not available for viewing . The dam again should be unless a tragedy occurs after whelping and some bitches don’t like every Tom,Dick and Harry looking at there brew ,managing a bitch and her pups is very careful ,some love the world some mothers are very protective. Aand yes some breeders have certainly being very mindful off covid . If you don’t feel there the right fit for you then look elsewhere
  11. The script price some vets charge means it’s still cheaper to buy from the clinic . For certain meds it’s not viable for the vet to stock so the script option works well for them with expiry dates etc. Mobile vets seem a better option for scripts also phoning other clinics to potentially see what they charge for the meds can also help . Its hard to get scripts like the past but we never had issues ,it’s legal and chemist told for the dogs which I hope they realise as it’s got the vet clinic on the paperwork . There is also the online med buying option for animals with script but again postage bumps it up
  12. Interesting the vet spoke so much because unless the actual owners authoritised such conversation the vet may find themselves in drama. Vets still have a client confidentiality so I’m surprised the vet openly talked so much about a dog you no longer own .
  13. If they go to small claims you will likely lose and pay out more . Also keep in mind most vets will cover there butts in what was actually said so unless the vet is prepared to put all that in writing don’t take it as gospel . You may want to consult with your lawyer
  14. But you have no signed paperwork that clearly outlined the issues and expectations. No one here actually knows what degree the issue is ,to have it at this age is pretty serious . Did you see a specialist for a second vet report ? Our puppy owners are encouraged to get a vet inspection in 48 hrs . It’s clearly outlined regarding refund, return policy and life return policy . All this is clearly communicated . We also note why the cost off the pup is different . We are effectively selling a faulty good . In your case a faulty good with an unknown future at time of purchase ,may grow out,may need surgery, may cut life span short ,May be a life long expense and also a very strict feeding routine for life if severe . I will add we have sold 1 pup with issue and the sales contract and conditions where very different to our normal scenario and the degree and involvement in the owners knowledge important . Vet reports, specialist reports ,pup was not sold until 5 months to ensure where things stood . Pup had a heart issue our vet was very confident it would outgrow which it did but they also suggested hanging onto pup as once active things can change either way . It was our responsibility to do right there . The contract clearly stated they knowingly brought the pup with full understanding of the current status . fully enough a lawyer brought the pup who was impressed with pre sale communications, vet reports etc Im sorry but text/SMS messages aren’t how to communicate puppy sales and serious health issues. As for saying your dogs have no health issues that is not true . 3 animals within the lines have this issue. This is a health issue .
  15. Personally this pup should never have been sold until you absolutely new it’s future . You should have had a very clear contract outlining the pups health issues, attached vet reports and updated vet visit before leaving to cover you and ensure you had documented proof the owners where very well aware off the issue ,what may be required as an adult ,the potential methods off feeding into adulthood either raised ,in a special chair to eat upright . This issue isn’t for the faint hearted and insurance wouldn’t cover it . Condition of sale and if it doesn’t work out pup is to be returned . A dog with this condition can go downhill very quickly and given pup needed gripe water to eat is alarming . I would certainly insist on a vet letter to say they have PTS sooner than later and refund and be wiser next time . whilst the litter was not planned you are a breeder that comes under the law off selling faulty goods . Your not out of pocket ,you knowingly choice to sell the pup with issues .
  16. 30 people is busy, loud and overwhelming to a pup and this is where people don’t think from a dog perspective. If this was a baby/toddler you wouldn’t expect it to be cuddled, carried, hugged by 3 or 30 people who are strangers . You would be more guarded and manage. The most bomb proof pups can go pear shaped without direction, respect . in fact it makes owners some what slack in presuming bomb proof means ready to deal with what the world offers . People who smoke, smell, strong perfumes/aftershave,people with health issues that a dog can sense and smell.People who aren’t dog savvy,no knowledge on how to pat, behave properly . These things can greatly alter a pup that’s left on its own to cope . All these aspects develop with age and that’s when owners need to teach the next stage or feed the brain . Evem with our bomb proof showdogs we have to keep educating to the world and things that aren’t really normal expectations
  17. Problem is owner isn’t savvy otherwise they would have better understood the overwhelming expectations they placed on a pup that would not have been managed or monitored in the pups best interests. It know has reached a limit off not having the coping skills to deal with happenings that weren’t managed . I doubt she was relaxed but just compliant to what it was made to do . I agree drugs have there place . Owner needs to decide what they expect from this dog in regards to the effort they want to do . If they want it to be a cafe dog it’s not going to happen without them putting the training in and learning to understand the dogs body language and mannerisms for needing time out and time at home . it needs a safe zone at work
  18. Why are you using Malayan though ,it’s not for all issues . We bath our minis and recommend selsum blue . I only use the F10 on a dog with yeast issues .
  19. Never seen it happen but anything is possible but I find it useless stuff and harsh prefer F10 shampoo
  20. Let’s look at it another way whilst they may be a water breed at some stage in life they get old and drying off isn’t as simple and easy . This doesn’t mean they live in a coat but circumstances may making a coat a good option if running through the heavy rain to a vet appointment ,a toilet run on a icy cold miserable day . I don’t think it’s a yes / no answer but it can be a good tool at the right moment .
  21. My boy has been on meloxicam for 6 months . Had another on it for 2 years it’s my preferred go to pain meds as reaction seems to be small compared to other choices .
  22. All my vet nurse friends did the tafe course . If you really want to get a good answer ask your vet what they look for or better still look at vet nursing jobs advertised and what requirements there asking for
  23. Did the breeder suggest this diet .? Food can trigger some dogs but at 3 months . Just like people who use treats with food colouring . The puppy school should be teaching you self control exercises and teaching calm time to its class .. What has the trainer said or suggested . Has the trainer said the dog is not normal in its activity level at this point . The people suggesting it’s hyper what are there dogs like boring, scared,no zest for life . Pups get excited and yes there owners need to teach zest with manners. If the dog is truely behaving above a normal hyper level it and the people saying it are qualified and experienced enough to say so without it being about them pushing another brand it’s worth hearing and digesting .
