Are Siberian Huskies A Good Breed For A House With 5 Kids?
Dogsfevr replied to Aztec Gold's topic in General Dog Discussion
A good breeder will quiz the owners & inform them of there suitability BUT these people should have done there research & be fully aware of the Siberians pitfalls . First off good fencing is a must they are amazing escape artists, the shed coat in bucket loads, they are very active, can be very stubborn & dominant . They are wonderful dogs but not for lazy owners or owners who just want a dog to sit in the backyard with little time spent. There not ideal for offleash runs BUT they can be trained with a good deal of time spent by there owners,an intrained Siberian like any dog will not be a pleasure & a Sibe with little time spent will seek its own fun & that is why there escape ability is well known & why they have a high dumpage rate. They are active dogs & need owners who are committed sadly its seems alot of owners aren't & this breed suffers from to many BYB breeders & the dumpage rate . Very easy to google the breed & get could sound infor on what the breed needs to be a well adjusted house member -
Not heavy at all ,i did 15 dogs yesterday . I find them comfer than Oster, wahl & i don;t like the Andis shape . It what suits each person but grooming time for severely matted dogs is half what it would be with others & the finish is way better. We have had our Double K for over 20 years now so the new ones are probably even better . Rarely serviced & used 5 days every week or more

I have 2 dogs here who get it daily,Excellent for fussy eaters & for putting weight on . I use vanilla & they prefer Bulla
-
we own 3 double K & still have our original oster that are 25 plus years old. I couldn't do it withoutour double K,so quick & easy on all coat conditions & never give up.

Many european lines carry the bobtail gene infact i may not be common for Aussie breeding but with the increase in euro lines to Oz ithas incraesed it. A Rotti breeder here has had a good outcome of natural bobs for well over 25 years I also no of cases in Springers.american cockers & a number of other breeds It is also easy to tell by looking at the end of tail & all bobtails have to be documented at the veta & hold certificates

When he is just doing it praise & use the word of your choice "stand" If pup likes balls/tug etc use that to reward a good free stack i When the dog understands the natural stance then work with that with stacking.allow the dog to walk into his front & stack himself then fix accordingly, many dogs will do both & with a large breed it is often easier & quicker to teach them to walk into the stack than fix every leg & generally do a worse job. The table is a tool you can use when older ,oour grooming room has a 2+ 2 metre mirror on the wall & as we use it to groom by & stack ,to see what the real world sees not our own view. Even with a berner you sometimes need some creative grooming if the top coat is curly/wavy as it can alter the toplone

Generally the canine jobs are only advertised on there website so the outside tends not to now about them

all my large breeds pups are trained on a table Stacking, mouth etc etc They spend alot of time on the table anyway when being groomed so its natural & even when the breeders assess the pups they are stacked on a table from 6 weeks. Don;t get caught bribing with food all the time, foster the free stack BUT teach dog to hand stack as well. I see too many who don;t teach both & pay for it latter on. Mouthing is easy just stop any old time say mouth look .good dog this doesn;t have to be part of show training at all i just do it randomly

Minis are tough buggers. Ours grow up with there fav uncles for socializing from 6 weeks

Did they not have Bichons ?? If there the same twins this isn't the first time a story has been done .i recall a number being on ACA type shows
-
There must be some breeds that are of interest ??

It also relates to many people objecting to having small toy breeds done at such an early age.

Anyone Know A Friendly, Good Breeder Of Golden Retrievers?
Dogsfevr replied to Aztec Gold's topic in General Dog Discussion
Many Goldie exhibitors are still returning from the Goldie National held in Brisbane . -
Yep smaller portions & feed twice daily also important to cut out any treats or change the meal portions to cater for any treats. The key is your not making her happy by over feeding ,you will make her happy by feeding the right portions & allowing her weight to be appropriate for her age & health issues. Is she on any meds for her arthritis?? How active is she & how active do you make her?? I have an 11 yr old with arthritis of the hocks, spondo of the spine ,his last x rays suggest he shouldn't be walking but we make him still feel active & in winter he has to move & he does, he runs an acre ,plays with his toys & the weight is keep right . He is feed 2/3 times a day,the main part in the morning ,he is on meds during winter to help ease the pain & ensure he is active plus we take him to Bowen for massage to help the joints . When his joints are more swollen or sore i also use Arnica/Comfry cream to rub on them

There is a 2 berth dog trailer for sale in DOL classifieds ,doesn't say whether home made or brand name but i now some where looking for a trailer

my English his eyes swell so much they shut, even the top of his head swells. If bitten elsewhere he also swells badly, he also has his lymph glands pronounced in his thighs & throat for about 4/6 months after . He is getting worse with age but luckily this year we haven't had a bee sting. We do ice packs as quick as possible
-
My English Setter swells worse than Ruby & generally after jabs takes 2/3 days for all the swelling to go. It takes him about 5/8 hrs for any real difference to be scene My young Irish took 3 days a couple of weeks ago for all the swelling to go ,he didn't have a needle but the last bite just took awhile. My vet just makes up injections that i have at home/car etc but if bitten during vet hrs they go to the vet to monitor heart rate

Winter also means much darker nights, have you tried leaving a light on ??

Also this isn't just a boy thing & getting a female doesn't mean it still doesn't happen. Bad behaviour will happen male/female.females can lift there leg just as good.

Was thinking of doing this show may enter & see what happens -
Minis are pig at the best of times ,try tennis balls or the likes in the bowl, don't hoover or make a fuss & if you feed the 2 together seperate so it doesn't feel the need to be a competitive pig
