I take it those people didn't get a puppy or were spoken to further? Weren't sold a puppy. When people phone they are told straight about our dogs not sold for breeding. We have a handful sold to show home or dog sport homes on main . Those in show homes have been a mixture of experienced & learners but given our breed is hard work to prepare many are put off once they see what they will have to do. We wont sell on main just in case they want to show because the specialized coat means it has to be done correctly from day 1 & generally we have a very high rate of BYB/DD breeders wanting pups & alot of exporters trying to buy pup/litters.The pitfall of a popular breed. We groom alot of our breed & those who wanted main papers have brought from QLD & generally 2 kennels who sell everything on main/to breed & at mega $$$ for one colour ,as that colour isnt strongely breed it changes so what they have paid for is a lemon colour wise. We groom alot of these dogs & the people try & pick our brains but as they are all explained from our intitial phone contact that breeding .colours & the likes isnt so simple,They dont do there homework but just want. one of these kennels has sold 3 here to be shown, not one has & they all have 4 inch cowlicks down there neck . We will support anyone who is genuine & some breeds have it easier with less popularity but not us,the phone never stops & we get alot of nutters who want them Just read the sunday paper each weekend for the horrid crosses now seen & most of those dogs are QLD breeding crossed to god nows what here I will add we are never rude to these people but we dont go into detail if what they want we cant supply. I have been very lucky to co own, lease & simply be given some wonderful dogs to show so i totally appreciate what chances people have given me but i also now that i proved myself to these people & have had the favour returned with life long friendships & opportunity's many could only dream off.

Ours are told in the very first phone call or email. They are also told they are sold on spay contract & at what age THEY must be done & the spay refund aspect If we have any qualms we will start spaying prior to them leaving. We dont register our pups until they have left & we are happy with who is main/limited & all the final aspects are sorted. One thing every breeder is very well aware of of besides BYB /puppy farms in certain breeds are also the shonky export dealers who send charming families around to try a get a main pup & then it leaves the country before you now it . we have a 100% spay success rate & the only ones who didnt like our agreements where those who wanted papers to breed

We dont like it. We get people who do phone on behalf of **** & to be honest we simply say could you please get them to phone us & we normally ask why they arent phoning because like Aziah we wonder why & at this stage havent had a reason given that was really good. Your friends will have to deal with the breeders during purchase so the more leg work they do now the more responsibility they must take & be involved & ask questions.

Dry Humping 18 Months Old Female Staffordshire
Dogsfevr replied to scolly's topic in General Dog Discussion
I disagree. There are several reasons why dogs might hump. It is not uncommon in play between dogs and may or may not be considered rude or dominating. Like schmoo said, I often interpret it as the dog being excited but not really sure what to do about it. It can also be related to anxiety (same sort of scenario: dog is feeling socially conflicted and doesn't know what to do about it). And sometimes it is just hormonal, although usually in an adolescent dog hitting puberty. I do not really know why people think it is a dominance gesture. I have rarely seen it used as such, although I won't say never. Dominating is about control. If you're a dog using mounting as a dominant gesture you're doing it to show you can. Therefore you would have to rule out the other possible reasons first. At any rate, dogs that try to control other dogs are generally not actually dominant themselves. They just like to be in control. A truly dominant dog doesn't need to posture and so forth. Spoiling a dog creates issues ,you can love your dog dearly but one must always remember they are a dog & need to be treated as such to now where they stand. Actually, someone did a study on this and found that spoiling a dog does not create issues. However, your point that they need to know where they stand is valid and relevant to this situation IMO. If it is a reaction to excitement or anxiety or just not really knowing how to handle her arousal (that's not in the sexual sense), giving her structure and rules is a good place to start to address it. If it were me, I'd introduce some rules into play. Things like you sit or down before you get to tug/wrestle/chase. You can turn it into a little training session. In the meantime, I'd just gently push her off and give her something else to do instead. Whenever my little guy is being a nutter or doing something I'm not fond of I tell him to sit. It stops the behaviour and gives me a moment to decide what to do next. If I reward him then he's rewarded for the sit rather than the obnoxious behaviour preceding it. I have to be careful, though. Sometimes just telling him to sit can be a reward... I think it is a problem in that some dogs REALLY don't like it. If she were to use this tactic on another dog she might end up in a fight. lets just say after 25 plus years of owning dogs & many at that never ever had a humper . See plenty of people who do have humpers & in all cases it has been the dog ruling the roost. We have entire males, stud dogs & the likes & never have they attempted to hump our legs or the likes -
we have used them for years aswell. In the kennels we use them more so in winter .Each morning each boarder gets one whilst out in the yards(except those with special diets) Here there not used in large quantities just simply a tummy filler on the cold mornings . never had an issue with the old or the new

I wouldnt say im there for a second opinion, i would explain the symptoms, what has been tried so far & the fact it wasnt working . Alot would depend on the vet i was heading to next as well & what experience they have had in the area or the fact they have been recommended for being more open minded & looking at other options. Having said that before seeking a second opinion i would if possible be trying to research the issue as much as possible to be able to understand why seeking a second opinion is warranted & what possible options could be tried or not tried.

Dry Humping 18 Months Old Female Staffordshire

It means the dog is ruling the house . It isnt acceptable behavior & the dog obviously has little leadership respect of hubby. Spoiling a dog creates issues ,you can love your dog dearly but one must always remember they are a dog & need to be treated as such to now where they stand. My dogs are part of the house sleep on my bed BUT i never lose sight of the fact they are an animal & as such will be treated with the respect they deserve to be well adjusted animals This young lady is establishing herself over hubby & at 18 months i would be addressing this issue now before it gets out of hand. -
Advice On Different Package To Desex Puppy
Dogsfevr replied to nicolatu's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yes it does because each dog should be considered until unless there are additional reason like the brachy breeds but having said that our vet sees alot of brachy breeds & there is no price difference. Just like vets that now charge more if they have had a season ,it all a joke in the scheme off things -
I have neither but have friends who do & my biggest issue with both is getting the dogs in the back with the tray in the way, Often the crates are at the back & by the time the dogs are placed up & you leab in to lock the crates it can be quite a hard task

Advice On Different Package To Desex Puppy
Dogsfevr replied to nicolatu's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Agree,we have a vet chain here that is notorious for these package deals & over kill & if you question them my god do you get abused. A good vet clinic doesnt do package deals as such they should be treating each dog based on breed or risks associated & going from there. It shouldnt be like picking a holiday package -
I now a few whippies who have bloated,it doesnt just affect big dogs
-
I own breeds pre disposed to bloat & have lost 2 to bloat & no im not paranoid about it because i now i take every precaution that is reasonable to minimize the chances. There are to many what ifs & the more paranoid i become the less enjoyment i would have owning the breed & would get out. Stress can also be a major factor by the owners .

How Would A Cavalier And German Shepherd Go Together?
Dogsfevr replied to Sunnyflower's topic in General Dog Discussion
Here is a soft placid GSD that by one poster is a reject. A true GSD is adaptable to all situations . My GSD was an entire male, used at stud, show breed from pure german lines A GSD is all about ownership . My boy had never meet these dogs but all our big dogs are taught manners & IF THE OWNERS are prepared for reality, prepared to have the house set up for the puppy stages & totally committed it will work but all factors must be consdiered I will also attach a photo of our other big dogs/small dog combos -
Why Are Some Pups Sold Without Papers Altogether
Dogsfevr replied to GardenofEden's topic in General Dog Discussion
-
yes you will get 6 points each time you win the breed & more points if other chessies turn up
-
What is the main reason for a third dog?? If the 2 dogs get on like a house on fire what are your expectations of adding a third ?? Bostons & Frenchies can be very spunky dogs so you truly need to match the pup to what you already have & to be honest unless your very dog savvy having 3 entire males may be a disaster. You you have to understand is your pack gets on great now a 3 males can alter that & an entire male can suddenly become things you dont expect. If desexing isnt going to be an option then you need to pick wisely to make sure things dont go pear shaped

Why Are Some Pups Sold Without Papers Altogether
Dogsfevr replied to GardenofEden's topic in General Dog Discussion
WA still doesnt have to sell with papers but all pups must be registered . QLD they are suppose to go with papers so they reality is your breeder hasnt followed the COE there bound by. When you say health testing did you get a copy of those papers & how do you now they match the pup you have ?? -
I would sooner post that at his age than a bad stacked shot.It shows his athletic side which is important in the breed
-
People always remember bad photo's & with a minority breed bad photo's stand out big time. I too wouldnt use it because whilst its a nice candid photo, it isnt a great photo to encourage people to go WOW. Young dogs we generally do head shots only unless its a nice stacked photo or there hunting birds nothing that can be pre judged

Yep so agree with this

never heard of them ,make sure you do your homework about breeders
