  1. I stewarded alot in my younger years & i reckon it turned me old quickly :p Im sorry to say the toy people are :p 10 dogs.1 lead. Asking if its betty or bill needed ,(open bitch) I never had anything inappropriate said i just think after a day i needed a padded room to explode in We dont get paid here
  2. Vic has a very different laws there so anything is possible
  3. Agreed. IMO get it over and done with as quickly as possible - the less stuffing about the better. If you get some ointment on his fur or outside the eye don't fret but aim for the inside of the lower eyelid. Use one hand to pull the eyelid slightly down and the other to quickly apply the ointment. If you're clever you can do it all with one hand. So agree with this ,people make it harder on them selves,Put him on a lead ,take control & whack it in,easy peasy.
  4. When i did agility the barking dogs drove me mad.You had to yell so hard for the dogs to hear I will add it was only a small handful & generally the collie people .the others whose dogs where much more successful dogs where calmly sitting in there crates or car set ups. It is the same at flyball on occasions & again usually the collie family Im all for excitement but there is a limit.
  5. We use Liberty all the time & they are quieter than the oldfield. No good dryer will be quiet & we have never had a dog freak with teh dryer with an y clients. We also have the oldfield cylinder
  6. The problem is also the judges that dont want to disturb that great grooming LOL Like the grooming has intimidated them
  7. If your using a repo vet that would have good advice for you
  8. **** black eye pea **** black to T future
  9. I remember a lecture by setter specialists who always emphasised the gordon needed more attention on touch before focusing on movement. For example like the rottie/dobe the tan markings are.t always evenly marked & this can create an illusion of all sorts . This also applies to Black/Silver mini schnauzers, markings can be an evil thing Shelties with one solid leg/white other all can make you see things that aren.t there. Springers with solid coloured r backs can look longer than a broken colour . What the eye see,s doent mean its true In many tri colours the 3 coat colour's cab be different textures & again can make a topline look off when its the colour not sitting tightly together, good grooming can fix this but many have no clue that coat is one texture . When i showed yanks we always with the other exhibitors took clipped off good/bad dogs because many where surprised how much off a dog was underneath ,would would also try & match clipped off with colour especially like Black /tan. guess its also like clown faced whippets/greys etc etc, some find it very hard to determine if the head is correct or is it the markings
  10. But owning coated breeds & those who do also now that coat can make an appearance of faults on the move so time must be spent to go over & ensure what you see is correct . Coats that are a marked differently & even certain markings can change the who perceived visual & one must make an effort to make sure its a fault or not. Go watch coated breeds & you will be amazed at what you see & how fooled one can be without touching
  11. The problem is these things shouldnt have to be paid for. This is part of running a kennel & daily routine. Colliehound it depends on how much money you want to spend in establishing or upgrading. How many kennels you wish to have What your council guidelines are to what can/can't be built. As for a check list clients are told but many dont listen & this applies to the vets, you would be surprised how many still feed fido before surgery & waste vets time. The reality is you must emphasis the most important factors of what to bring . Many dont listen at the best of times so you can only hope some form of common sense prevails
  12. At 12 yrs dont bother ,tear stain removal doesnt happen over night it takes time. If he has sensitive issues then avoid it
  13. I find Europeans to judge like this. I have certainly had judges occasionally get frazzled & forget what there judging but that is also partially the stewards fault because they judge should be told what is now happening. I have had a judge in extreme heat get a tad forgetful & i had no issues with that & being polite & saying what the steward should have,Resulted in an highly embarrassed judge whom i had to reinforce wasnt an issue for me
  14. The simple reality is it is dangerous to have him sleep in your bed at his age & the breed his is. I would sooner put up with some crying than the long term result of a damaged back. Dachies love to be vocal, that is part of there breeding, they will use there voice at any chance & generally they win as people give up. Dachies will fight to the end when it comes down to it so be very patient, consistent & he will learn very quickly that his new bed is perfectly fine. When the dog is older & more capable of staying safely there yes it ca sleep on the bed but at present play it safe. My dachie was crated, then progressed to his own bed & once mature & trained to stay slepted on my bed.
  15. I cant speak for them but in our household all the bitches come in at the same time so basically its a case of mate all or mate some now & the others latter. Factors would be considered if we where to mate all( im talking 3 bitches) as to due date, weather at that time etc etc> We have had 3 litters at once & ideally wouldnt do it often but it was case of the stud was at limited use & we couldnt wait till next season to use him so we had to mate 2 to this male & one to other. The weather when due was ideal so all was fine. Now if 26 isnt there total quota & the numbers so far i would start to think why so many
  16. That is the funniest thing i have read all morning :D Thanks for that
  17. as an owner never ending money spent on maintenance. As already mentioned as an owner 24/7 365 days of the year . You certainly get many wonderful dogs & great clients but its hard work & often un thanked & people seem to treat you like sh*t as its an industry that many feel is beneath them.
  18. never had any issues with pups or adults & fly yearly
  19. When i was there the club does sell food, nice pizzas, drinks, tea, coffee ,hot choc etc etc
  20. At Bulla if you park under the trees next to the fenced off run the shade is there all day & its heavy shade. We set up there last year during the specialities. Space is limited inside but now i read they have the ramp near the club that will make life so much easier. Between indoors & the off leash area is grass so you could set up cabana,s there or set up on the grass area the other side & walk. I loved showing there last year & was lucky to have a dog so turned on by the planes landing
  21. I have won alot of stuff over the years & to be honest cash is always the one i remember most as its useful.
