  1. Its very readily available in australia what state are you in?
  2. yep harness, haltis whilst needed are the matts best friend. Also washing a dog with matts just makes it worse. For clipping the face just use the normal clipper there is no need to use different & it wont get through the coat. Simply use a 8 blade or 7 if you want fuzz but not long. Looking at him i would be doing the head ,neck shorter & more shaped.
  3. Nope she will not eat satin balls, she did for the first day but after that wouldnt touch them. As long as you keep offering alternatives the dog will play the game. Fussy eaters are usually very smart BUT always consider some fussy eaters can be a result of dogs having bad tonsils
  4. Diet is very individual & what may be "labelled" great doesnt mean it will suit each dog. For example my boy doesnt do well on eagle pack hollistic, when i swapped all was perfect. Finding the right diet can be challenging for some dogs, others have a cast iron stomach. With my 2 slightly sensitive tummy boys both get different diets & i dont change it.It agrees & i stick too. You could give.gut lining flora tablets
  5. Maybe your partner can help in watching the way you approach things in relation to what he does. Whilst leadership is important the way one approaches a dog or there simple body language can create all sorts of mixed messages to a dog that certainly feels it holds more power than you. I say go back to basics & rebuild you order in the household. The thing is 2 days a week doesnt make any difference ,a dog that respects that human will do so if its only seen once a month. For example i handle dogs in the ring, some i may see once in a blue moon but communication & handling & treating the dog with total respect gains so much reward. Dont think you need to compensate for the lack of time it wont make the dog love you more, infact you simply confuse them with whats expected
  6. Where is she sleeping currently?? If your using a crate personnally i would bring her to your bedroom, When she starts sleeping through the nights & cans more confidience of the house & humans start to wean her to the desired area. Whilst im a believer in not running to every howl a pup howling due to being overwhelmed & afraid isnt for me either. For years with our pups new & old we have done it this way & they have settled easily within a few weeks & moved to there area. We also advise our pup owners to use this method until pup is confidient & content with being alone
  7. Going up & down stairs is very different to going to ground. There is w whole different type of pressure on the body Active lifestyle yes BUT one also has to appreciate the breeds unique structure & no matter what there are activities that will place them at higher risk & thats where precautions are taken. Stairs can affect manys breeds ,Giant breed in early development can havea an increase in joint issues from stairs.
  8. someone may have tried to break in?/ Personally i would go ask my neighbors if they recall any odd noises or happenings, they may be able to pin point an odd occurrence that could coincide with this odd behavior. We have never owned a mini that has gone through a fear stage, infact never owned a dog that has done it. I agree like others at present dont fuss,i would even go as far as not to make a big deal if pup is around you because over rewarding can sometimes be just as harmful.
  9. I have been associated through daccies in the ring for nearly 20 years. With my boy i put it down to being around entire girls . Whilst my boy took a long time to recover if he wasnt so fit the chances of him getting to where he did would have been zilch. Sadly in our case the unauthorized surgery was also stuffed up The problem isnt major as in breeding BUT the main problem is daccies who are overweight, not fit, jumping up & down things they shouldnt. You will find very few showies with daccies that go down but lots of pets do. The same applies to corgis aswell. To many overweight, not fit & things crash quickly. As there long in back they need to be fit so there back muscles are strong to carry them
  10. Have to agree, never meet a long chi that needed clipping off. They have very little coat as it is. Should also add panting is normal for a dog. That is how they cool them selfs & there is a big difference between sitting in the sun & getting warm & simply being to hot when it shouldnt be.
  11. My dachy had this surgery many years ago.It took 9 months for him to start rewalking. Her never fully regained full toilet control. We wrapped his back hocks to give more strength & did the physio & walked him as much as possible using a sheet made with leg cut outs.We did have a cart which he hated but it still exercised his front which he needed. Personally i would never have done the surgery & it was done without our permission(long story there)
  12. cavies ideally should never be clipped off. The coat needs regular brushing as they do shed alot The feet you can trim right back so they are neat, clean & dont pick up all the crap but that is optional but all the cavies we groom request this. Your breeder will be able to assist you in this area & what the best tools to buy are.Dont rush out & buy anything because not all products are good.
  13. There is a fine line between over exercise & lack of exercise. A young dog lacking in muscle condition is just as likely to suffer damage doing very little. Dogs still need condition whilst they are developing to hold there body etc etc. So exercise is very important providing its done correctly . 20 mins for a cavie at that age wouldnt be anything major if its a nice stroll. If the dog has alimp then that certainly needs to be addressed simply whether it be a an old injury ,hea;lth issue or what ever because an old injury can cause muscle loss
  14. our dogs get heartworm only. We have no fleas so we dont treat for what we dont have.We worm when required The only time i do use a spot on is when i travel east & thats due to the other animals on the flight. I use Advantix when i do.
  15. I too think it was case of getting the injection before the true reaction appeared . You where probably lucky to get the injection early & the reaction delayed.
  16. I just use the human "micro flora" with no issues at all & with great success
  17. I agree ask the breeder ,you have already had incorrect answers so surely you would want the right answers from the right person
  18. You dont have to pester your breeder simply email(if she has it) asking for a diet sheet so you can shop before pup comes home. All our puppy owners get there sheets a week before pup goes either by email or at there final visit. What diet to feed isnt pestering
  19. all my dogs from pups go on gluco but any lameness/soreness is investigated asap whether that be through bowen or the vet
  20. What diet did your breeder suggest?? Ditch the steak & the weetbix. Being apig can be due to many reason. Not being feed enough, having meals interupted or they are simply a pig. You can place a tennis ball or something large that they have to eat around. Everyone will suggest & feed something different so most likely you will still be confused & some diets arre more suited to certain breeds than others.
  21. Your pup should be feed the diet the breeder suggest & if you wish to change it discuss this with your breeder. Many of the breeder guarantees are based on you following the diet in there puppy packs & if you choice to not feed it & things go wrong you will the breeder will be annoyed. You also need to understand you cant just change the diet over night & this is for the pups benefit not yours.Extreme diet changes can cause upset tummies which will make the pups toilet training & transition into your home a very unsettling one. You also have to understand that not all foods are suitabel for all breeds & whilst one diet may sound great it can be totally inappropriate for that breed so i suggest you have a good talk with your breeder about the diet you would like to feed & whether down the track that would be suitable for a poodle
  22. "Just before he ran full pelt towards my 15mth old and snatched the dummy out of my sons mouth, knocking him flying in the process." is your 15 month old son trained fully?? No.You have a young pup that needs continual training ,repetition & boundaries. 7 month old pup is no different to your child. It does naughty things & it learns by what is it taught. Have you been to obedience?? Whats its daily learning ?? Whats its daily exercise/mental stimulation?? A bored Lab is a feral lab ,
  23. Poodlefan so true & sadly many owners end up so disappointed when things do go wrong. Diet is all about common sense & the individual dog & here we have dogs on different diets because they do better on there individual programme .Its a right royal pain but it isnt a case of one diet suits all
