Help! Sierra Is Chewing The Outdoor Furniture!
Dogsfevr replied to Zombie Bait's topic in Puppy Chat
cold weather doesnt mean no walking especially with a large breed active dog. It is very boring sitting there 24/7 so the backyard becomes there amusement park. Walking isnt just about exercise but mental stimulation from there daily routine. -
We are booked out till the start of October Canning Vale

Our vet crates the dogs. There is no way i wont my doppy dog slipping around to injure itself .I hate tethering due to the dangers.Having said that we would never leave the dog there that long if tethering was the only option.Having staff watch dogs that arent use to either plus work & do there job is alot to expect.

You can simply feed your dry & just add raw meat,You dont have to go extreme with Barf just do a happy in between. All mine get the dry raw mutton, chicken necks, barf patties but im not convinced complete raw is any better & not all dogs do well on it or are able to maintain there weight. I have a theory if it aint broken dont fix it

"A human hair dryer has heat but insufficient air flow to dry a dog's coat. " Depends on which human one you have. I actually have a great human one which i can dry my setters in the same time as the dog ones ,its just awkward to hold. Im presuming this is a pet owner who isnt going to spend hundreds to blow dry there cavie. In the old days all we had where human hand held

Also many vets are in burbs & also have to meet council requirements due to noise. A dog thats barks non stop is a pain & can set all the other dogs off, create unneeded stress. If your little one is inclined to bark now get on top of it because there is is no need for barking & this is the age you make or break habits whether they be good or bad

Depends what you call ages ;) Spending 2 hrs blow drying haireis is normal for me BUT you must make sure you remove as much water as possible with towels or magnet. The adult cavie i was showing for awhile took just over an hour to dry with a big dryers

Where not charitable anymore & it is working very well .You pay on pick up .No money then we send them off to the ATM machine. To many people just presume if your nice once it can happen again & again. We dont text, phone or anything else, they are handed a date sheet so they have no reason not to forget or phone. We have found the users dont bring business but the good clients are great with word of mouth & that is what its all about. If you have regular no shows you lose income & i very much doubt there handing your name out . Give them the flick & bring in a new clientale that stay & bring new with them

We are all breeds groomers & breeder/exhibitor of minis. Depends how quickly you want groomed though

We have a breed highly prone to pancreatitis & also had a dog suffer an attack . When the dog has an attack it is shocking they are in bad pain, bring up bile, vomit & very flat. This can be a killer & many dogs do die . It is generally created by a very poor diet or sneaking the wrong stuff. The worse situation for these attacks are BBQ when guests sneak the dog the fatty bits & after doing the rounds of many guests some simply cannot deal with the fat overload. It is very easy to reduce the weight.Dogs get fat because there over feed & people sneaking treats they shouldnt have. If it does have pan then you do need a diet low in fat & bland & no treats(schmackos, pig ears all these things help course issues when given too much)

No we dont take fees BUT if they phone to book in we dont squeeze them in or we do mention as you didnt turn up last time & didnt cancel could you do so in future. If we had a consistant client like the one you have we wouldnt do it anymore,it isnt worth the hassle. We often find the no shows are the firt timers or the one who sound suss over the phone which we will note in the book. The genuine ones will often call apologizing

How Do You Get Your Dog To Stand Still While You Brush?
Dogsfevr replied to pennyw74's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
"I have always trained my dogs to lie flat on their sides for general grooming" Great if you are grooming yourself. All my show yanks where taught to lay but as a professional groomer standing up is preferred Standing full stop would be great -

How Do You Get Your Dog To Stand Still While You Brush?
Dogsfevr replied to pennyw74's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
The dog doesnt tell you what it wants you tell it whats expected.Never brush when sleepy,on the floor, chair.lap . Place your pup on a high surface with a non slip matt & simply be firm but kind & tell the pup to "stand". Start brushing with minimal fuss, over talking & get on with the job.Pup will wiggle & move until it understands whats expected. When pup is brushed do so when awake & in learning mode, brushing a sleepy puppy doesnt teach it anything but to resent what is happening & will not be capable of standing at that time. We also don t use treats or bribery but our voice for all our showdogs who will stand on a table all day happily if allowed & most certainly put themselves on there with no fuss. It doesnt happen overnight BUT unless you stick to your guns it will never happen & it isnt that hard. If pup keeps wiggling then be a tad firmer with your stand command, when it bites at the brush & firm "NO" & your body language must match it.There is no point thinking its cute etc etc because the pup will feels what its doing impresses you by your reaction & play up more. Its like a child bad behaviour doesnt get rewarded .Good behaviour does but just use your voice & hands to praise at the right moment. Often people give treats but it doesnt determine the good from the bad just being a wiggle on the table gets food. -
I agree do it over a month.Go back to "whats normal" for its gut & the start slowly . I would also go to the chemist & buy some Flora max tablets to reline the gut .Yoghurt does work but i feel the tablets are better.

Bonnie working dog changed there ingredients quite awhile ago.We used it regularly through the kennels as a mid range for those dogs not use to premium. After the change we have switched to Coprice . Our personal dogs Mins get Euk Irish/english Pro plan salmon Gordon EP holistic

Dogs pull because owners enable it.So when walking dont just walk thinking isnt this great go for a walk & take great care in watching what you allow your dog to do & consider your reaction. Then think seriously about what is going wrong.Does the dog understand what you want.Even though a pup if nothing is encouraged but the undesireable then that is normal. I allow my dog to pull on walks under my terms BUT they also now what normal walking is & they are also showdogs that can be shown on losoe leads etc etc. Personally i find most who use harness do so because they feel when they pull it doesnt hurt as much & its just makes life easier but you have no control & end up with a dog doing just the same "what evers". I do believe for certain health issues etc etc then a harness is a great tool but as already said nothing beats training & that starts at 8 weeks. Use your voice, commands & be interesting & be smarter than your dog.MAke a point of knowing when to take the mind of a situation that is about to happen.

Hills is a waste of money & your dog is telling you that. I imagine your vet recommends it as thats what they sell & get a commission on.Its doesnt mean they feed it. You need to add to the dry like already said.Mutton, beef(although i dont use beef at all).chicken mince & mix the dry & raw. Add things as mentioned Tuna, sardines, egg, yoghurt. "I cooked him chicken breast once, he loved it and finished his food (inc. dry food) straight away. The thing is, my friend suggested not to feed him meat or a like, otherwise he won't eat the dry food if it doesn't come with meats." What is your freinds experience?? Your dog ate a full meal & was happy. At present your dog is refusing to eat, underweight not hard to figure out the direction to head. My dogs get premiun dry BUT it is always added to no one leaves there dry

Nearly all the dog range should be diluted & only used undiluted for stubborn stains or areas that need a tad more care(pee feathers etc etc). I hated the silk spray. I do use the mighty white on the english legs/feet. I did try the full range but it didnt agree with his coat but will try it on the new addition . I do use the Kelco range though

Go to dogshows & look. You need to decide what type of groomer you want to be & then take dogs within your abilities. Like already said dont clip a cavie unless asked & always double check that what you think & what they think are the same. Many dog owners dont use the right words to explain the outcome they want. Bormally with cavies all we will trim is there feet as many owners dont like the slippers & all the rest is hand stripped out.We have 3 that are clip offs but due to old age its the best option for them especially as the owners dont want to brush them

Those orange fruits actually killed our top winning show bitch & beloved pet .

To be honest at that age we wouldnt even go into in depth testing. At that age the little one has had a fantastic innings. As you say the dog is happy, healthy & content & Every day is a bonus & i would prefer it to be that way .
